2 I PINIPE N EQUIEMEN: he principle of the PI system is based on the ability to generate a single or dual infrared beam that can be segmented around the premises to be protected and provide individually identifiable detection all on a wire U. Up to single or dual beam segments may be used. ypically, each segment comprises of a start unit and a receiver unit ll the units are wired in parallel on a two wire U which means that all positives are connected together and negatives are connected together in whatever form is suitable for that installation (ie. star or loop) second set of beams may be installed in parallel to any one in each segment to provide a dual beam feature, to reduce false alarms, which is wired all on the same two wire U. he two wire U is connected to the PI Keypad he PI Keypad provides both power and control to the x, x, x and x units. In this case the beam from an x unit is sent to an x unit which in-turn forwards it via a x unit to an x unit. x units automatically repeat the beam they see and need no programming. 8 INING N IGNING HE PI YEM ( INEIGEN ME UNI/ INEE O M PNE) Please follow these steps for a trouble free installation: - Mount the devices using the appropriate brackets and ensure that the mounting is sturdy and secure - ilt and turn the lenses in each unit in the same segment to face each other (fig ) - onnect all the units in parallel as shown in fig, carefully observing the polarity - Program the segment I.. number in each x module using the provided jumpers - ensure that the E ENE jumper is in - onnect the positive and negative wires to the master unit / keypad from any unit as shown in fig. - onnect the external buzzer and power to the master unit / keypad (fig ) he voltage free contact of the light relay on board may be used to activate a power relay which in turn will switch the security lights on. - fter Power is applied check that all x units are flashing - slow rate (hort pulse every second) indicates that they are connected correctly but are not aligned - fast rate indicates that the unit is connected correctly and aligned but not necessarily optimized - Optimize the alignment by moving the lenses from left to right and up and down and find the centre between losing the alignment (fig) - Once all the beams are properly aligned, all the x units should be flashing at a fast rate. - asten the screws that hold the lenses (fig) - If the units are close together it is possible that one x unit will affect more than one x unit. In some cases this could be an advantage but if this effect is not required it is possible to adjust the power output of the x unit from high to medium to low (fig) - earn the segments on the Master unit / PI K (efer to installation instructions) - If necessary, program the sensitivity (detection time) or each segment (efer to installation instructions) NOE: If a receiver unit does not receive any signal from its corresponding transmitter unit for minutes it will enter an auto exclusion mode which is indicated by intermittent flashing ( sec on sec off) his is to prevent constant triggering in case an obstacle falls and breaks the beam permanently. ig (step ) PI- (mt range) ig (step and ) PI- (mt range) ig a (step and ) M

11 M PE WN M WN he PI Keypad In the PI Keypad the detection time of the segments may be individually programmed to allow for both fast and slow reaction to a breaking of the infrared beam. he PI Keypad may also be programmed to activate an alarm either after a single break or after breaks.
