2 I PINIPE ND EQUIEEN: he principle of the PI system is based on the ability to generate a single or dual infrared beam that can be segmented around the premises to be protected and provide individually identifiable detection all on a wire U. Up to 8 single or dual beam segments may be used. ypically, each segment comprises of a start unit and a receiver unit ll the units are wired in parallel on a two wire U which means that all positives are connected together and negatives are connected together in whatever form is suitable for that installation (ie. star or loop) second set of beams may be installed in parallel to any one in each segment to provide a dual beam feature, to reduce false alarms, which is wired all on the same two wire U. he two wire U is connected to the aster Unit he aster Unit provides both power and control to the x, x, x and x units. he aster unit In the aster unit the detection time of the segments may be individually programmed to allow for both fast and slow reaction to a breaking of the infrared beam. he master unit may also be programmed to activate an alarm either after a single break or after breaks. When selecting the three breaks you can further choose an alarm activation after the E beam has been broken three times or after any three breaks within one minute window. ny further breaks within that minute will extend the third break audio signal, extend the timeout by a further minute and resend the alarm. he master unit gives a single audio signal to indicate a single break option (see fig ) he master unit uses different audio signals to indicate the three breaks in multibreak mode(see fig ) continuous interruption of the same beam (in same beam operation) will sound as shown in fig uzzer output gives different sounds for different stages of the breaks. irst break ec rigger alarm ig uzzer output he aster unit can communicate the alarm conditions to either a I racer larm panel or a generic alarm panel with spare zones available. HE WO WIE U IE OH POWE ND D I U E UED O DIPY POWE O DEVIE OHE HN UNI EONGING O HE PI YE. he distance between the transmitting and receiving beams depends on the model used. he PI model has a suggested maximum range of m he PI0 model has a maximum range of 0m E: he maximum range is dependant on environmental conditions, alignment accuracy and adequate power supply and correct wiring uzzer Operation irst break econd break ec ec ec on ec off hree breaks within minute irst break econd break hird break urther breaks rigger alarm ig ig ll of the units used must be programmed to either eam or eam (or dual beam application) using the jumpers provided on the unit itself. ll x units must be programmed to represent a segment number ( to 8) using the jumpers provided on the unit itself In particular applications where the same segment needs to be extended or repeated, a special x and x pair is used. In this case the beam from an x unit is sent to an x unit which inturn forwards it via a x unit to an x unit. x units automatically repeat the beam they see and need no programming. When armed the master unit displays the segments which are armed with running EDs and those that are isolated with a steady light. he aster unit will only display the segments that were installed. o automatically assess which segments were installed and aligned you can press the earn utton for seconds. he master unit will scan and display all the working beams before memorizing the result. his function may be used to test which beam or segment is not aligned properly as the corresponding ED will flicker in sympathy with the alignment (ED ON = no alignment ED O = full alignment) he alarm is sent via the serial communication port ( to interface with the UPEE) and activates the corresponding output on the connector block. he output may be programmed to be active OW or active HIGH ( see options). single common output or individual outputs may also be selected as an option he aster unit may, as an option, send an alarm condition to a channel receiver or to the UPEE using a radio transmitter mounted on board. here are two formats available : 0 bit channel and 6 bit (smartcode) hese options are programmable using the instructions on page VD upply OUPU 8 OPEN OEO E UNI D K ED X X NIE E E W I UZ EN O EXEN UZZE (OPION) O, and UNI Generic alarm panel 8 available zones Power may be taken from the existing larm panel or directrly from the battery via a protecting fuse v 6. /H EY use (mp) Or D K X X NIE ED E E W I UZ EN IGH IVION EY VOGE EE ON X VD,P OUPU PUUP OPION 0000 his jumper, when inserted provides a pull up resistor to V on all outputs his may be used on equipment which does not have an end of line resistor requirement
