1 Technical Information TI 002 N/08/en/02.02 Average Temperature Measuring Element for Tank Gauging System RCV-1000/1200 Multi-point average temperature with tank inventory management control Introduction In the average temperature sensor, temperature measuring elements are evenly installed inside the flexible tube. The system is designed to be installed vertically inside a tank. It measures the temperature of the fluid by averaging the temperature at all measuring elements. Platinum is utilized in temperature sensor. Inside of 0 ±25 C range, this device accurately measures the temperature within ±0.2 C error. Features at a Glance RCV temperature elements are used in conjunction with the TGM 4000 series of tank gauges and TMD data transmitter. They enable the net and normalized volume of the liquid to be calculated. This fulfills the exact demands of tank inventory managements RCV series are tank top mounted temperature element designed to measure the average temperature from the surface of the liquid to the tank bottom The RCV selects those temperature elements submerged in the liquid for evaluation. 2 Operation Principle (cont.) The RCV temperature series comprises up to 12 lines of elements, depending on the height of the tank. Each line consists of Pt 100 measuring point. Number of temperature measuring elements installed in a temperature tube is determined based on the height of the tank. The temperature of the fluid inside the tank is measured by taking an average temperature of all elements. Average temperature conversion unit is installed in the transmitter. The average temperature conversion unit installed in the transmitter selects the element that corresponds to the fluid level to measure the temperature. One pair of temperature measuring element is composed of 1 to 10 pieces of platinum bulb. The bulbs (elements) are installed inside the stainless flexible tube. The unit is fixed at the bottom using an anchor hook or weight.
