6 6 7 the KBR Quality concept the KBR Quality Plus concet stands for safe and efficient energy management. the basis of this quality concet is a coherent system of comonents and solutions develoed and roduced in germany. more transarency through recise analysis and evaluation of energy data and consumer costs more efficiency through active management of the energy suly transarency Efficiency KBR Quality Plus concet safety more flexibility through individual KBR roduct and system configuration Flexibility more safety through standardized technologies and KBR's own safety concets

7 KBR EnergyManagement KBR Quality Plus concet more transarency control of energy data and consumer costs Energy costs make u a large art of oerating exenditure in comanies among other things, a consequence of ever-rising electricity rices and ever more comlex suly toologies in comanies. The dictates of the moment are about recognizing savings otentials, making recise forecasts and develoing the right strategies to reduce energy costs. A rerequirement for this is to create a maximum of transarency. Electricity rices for industrial customers in germany , in /MWh The comonents and solutions of KBR fulfill this task erfectly. For examle, high-quality measuring devices of the roduct series multimess record and document consumtion values recisely and comrehensively. The web-based analysis and visualization software visual energy 4 on the other hand recisely reresents the energy consumtion of technical networks and facilities. Purchasing electricity EEG, KWKG Network fee Stock exchange rice EEX Electricity tax Source: DESTATIS and calculations by EEFA more efficiency cost-effectiveness in energy consumtion and network utilization Using existing energy as efficiently as ossible is getting ever more significant for comanies. It is necessary to load energy networks equally, revent exensive load eaks and, as far as ossible, avoid energy costs resulting from reactive current. This is when contemorary energy management is called for. The KBR system does outstanding work in this field. Technically sohisticated comensation units hel to reduce energy costs from reactive current, hel to lower maintenance costs and minimize costs through oerating failure and facility breakdowns. The multimax load management system for examle monitors and otimizes the energy consumtion behavior of connected loads, thereby eliminating exensive load eaks.

8 8 9 more safety Reliability for rocesses and roduction sequences Where energy is concerned, safety is the to riority, as nothing is more exensive than a roduction stoage or even the destruction of equiment. For this reason, KBR erforms extensive develoment work and roduces many comonents itself. Long-term tests, exensive quality checks, zero error tolerance and comlying with all relevant standards are just some elements of the KBR quality rogram. Secial mention must be made of securec, a safety and maintenance concet from KBR, which ensures the maximum availability of comensation facilities even in networks that are loaded heavily with harmonics: by monitoring the resonance frequency, stage back-u fuse and relay contacts, as well as a secial temerature management system. more flexibility solutions for new requirements and tasks KBR offers more than just a few individual comonents. The roduct sectrum forms a coherent system which has evolved from ractical exerience. The flexibility of the KBR energy management system ensures that customersecific requirements can be quickly and easily imlemented. If the toology of the energy suly network is exanded or changed, the KBR system can be adjusted to the new situation without any roblems, due to its modularity. The web-based concet of visual energy 4 contributes just as much to this as does the reduced cabling exense, for examle, with which the multicom reactive ower controller can be exanded with temerature or safety and maintenance modules.

55 Signals and Energy Data multisio Signal recording and rocessing meter recording status recording: Recording the ulses of existing energy meters is not one of the tyical tasks of the digital inuts of the multisio system. In contrast to almost all other systems, the summation and storage does not take lace only as a continuous counter, but also at medium-secific intervals. These are then also available, along with the consumtion recording and later rating, for a load rofile analysis. With the multisio digital inuts, states can also be otionally recorded. Each change in state (oening/closing) is logged with date and time. A tyical alication is the monitoring of ower switches. Every switching action can be traced with this. signals and EnERgy data oerating hours measurement: There are several ways of determining the oerating time of a consumer. If an energy meter is already installed to measure the consumer, a threshold can be determined and if this is crossed, the time counting is started. The current oerating hours in each case can be retrieved or reset. Even more owerful is the time counting with a closed contact. The oerating times determined in this way are stored in a load rofile memory. This means that they can not only verify the overall oerating hours, but in addition the oerating time for each eriod retrosectively. Making a statement on how much time a machine has run in layer 1 and how much in layer 2 thus becomes child's lay. Recording analog values: Generating not only instantaneous values from analog signals, but also useful values for consumtion recording is a highlight of the multisio. The cumulated average values are available in the eriod memory as a load rofile. Recording temerature: The multisio family rovides several ways of rocessing standard commercial PT 1000 temerature signals. They can use instantaneous values for visualization and also store the rogress history. multisio thus becomes an autonomous data logger because of the internal load rofile memory. Recording heat quantities: When one ulse inut each and two PT 1000 temerature inuts are used, multisio can determine the quantity of heat indeendently. An exensive additional heat quantity meter can thus be avoided for many alications. The calculated heat quantities are also available in the load rofile memory, so that not only the sum, but in addition the cooling behavior can be determined.

56 multimax Load management system Monitoring Otimizing The load management system multimax otimizes the energy consumtion behavior of loads connected to the system, thereby avoiding the occurrence of exensive ower eaks. The energy control system here functions as a central unit which by means of comlicated trend calculations determines the correct switch-off or switch-on time for the devices that need to be otimized. The intervention in the oeration sequence is made as carefully as ossible.

With this substation, u to two loads can be sensitively otimized when the ower threatens to be exceeded. The tye of otimization during the heating u hase is crucial. Deending on what thermal behavior is shown by the connected load, you can choose from three oerating modes. The standard oerating mode allows otimizing in the heating u hase. This ensures that the consumtion values are lausible. Tyical errors which occur in other systems, with multile, missing or incorrect measurement channels in the consumtion sums can therefore be ractically ruled out. In addition, recording and rocessing consumtion values itself ensures lausible values, since the status for each single measured value is recorded from the beginning to its evaluation. The viewer can therefore at any time recognize whether the sum contains missing or sulementary data. Formation of the sulementary data is done in accordance with the guidelines of the BDEW. For each measurement object (consumtion meters, section meters, billing meters), the existing information can also be dislayed in reort form and rinted out. 95 Power Quality securec Safety and maintenance concet ***securec is only available in Germany, Austria and for securec certified artners abroad*** how it works Attention! monitoring resonance frequency, stage backu fuse and relay contacts Because caacity during oeration is reduced by damaged caacitors in heavily loaded networks, the resonance frequency is continually changing. This means that a facility that was correctly set u can become a latent danger the longer it is in oeration. The unavoidable shifting of the resonance oints through caacity loss is accounted for by securec as it calculates the resulting new resonance frequency. Evaluating the resonance frequency is done taking into account the rogrammed reactor factor. If critical frequencies are reached, the dislay issues corresonding warnings which are logged in the event memory. If reviously defined resonance frequencies are exceeded, there is a switch-off, and if necessary, the stages involved are blocked. The securec concet also detects the setting off of individual fuses (no current increase when switching message»check fuse«) or»sticking«relay contacts (no dro in current when switching off message»contactor defect«). temerature management The securec concet furthermore contains a secial temerature management system. Conventional controllers simly switch off the entire facility if a limiting temerature is reached, and ut u with not only reactive current costs, but also very high aarent current, which can also trigger switches. The temerature management system of securec on the other hand ensures that such cases are avoided as far as ossible. As before, the fans are activated when the first temerature threshold is reached searately for each cabinet, of course. If this is not sufficient, and an equivalent stage is available in another cabinet (stage ower, detuning, thyristor/contactor), this is used as an alternative. Even if the emergency switch-off temerature is reached, desite these reventive switching oerations, not all stages are taken out simultaneously, but one after another, with a delay of two minutes. Error analysis with visual energy 4 visual energy 4 as the web-based information headquarters of the KBR system, comletes the securec concet. The analysis and visualization software rovides extensive functions for recording, monitoring, analyzing, and otimizing technical networks and facilities. Practical functions, a clearly laid out user interface, intuitive oerability and ease of adatability to secific situations make visual energy a genuine highlight. visual energy 4 rovides numerous otions for evaluating data and for assing these on to SAP or SQL databases. 108 Power caacitors multicond Monitoring Otimizing Recording multicond are 3-hase ower caacitors for reactive current comensation, develoed for networks with many harmonics. Aart from a long working life and high current and voltage load caacity, safety in case of overload (3-hase internal overressure disconnector) is a crucial advantage of the comact comonents, constructed according to dry safety concets. Other features: good thermal conduction, low build-u of heat as well as reliable erformance at high ambient temeratures.

110 multicond Rated voltage U n 280, 440, 480, 525 oder 690 V Rated frequency f 50/60 hz Power caacitor for reactive current comensation highlights Power from 1.5 to 37 kvar Caacitor rated voltage of 280, 440, 480, 525 or 690 v High level of safety through drying technology and 3-hase internal overressure disconnector Including comact discharge resistor Long working life An overall view of technical details can be found on age 115 A construction diagram can be found on age 114. multicond-uhpc ower caacitors stand out through their combined safety concet of a self-restoring effect and 3-hase internal overressure disconnector. In low voltage networks, inadmissibly high voltage eaks u to 3 times the rated voltage can occur through switching rocedures. If these loads lead to flashovers in the dielectric, the self-restoring effect comes into lay. The caacitor remains fully functional as this haens. The 3-hase internal overressure disconnector starts to function if the gas amount released by the many self-restoring rocedures causes a secific internal ressure. The lid of the aluminum casing bends slightly and the fuse disconnects the caacitor from the network. note: Deending on the network voltage and when used in detuned units, a corresondingly higher caacitor rated voltage must be selected.

134 thyroswitch 2P Current a 3-hase thyristor switch with two thyristors highlights Unlimited switching frequency without load on caacitors No eak inrush current when switching on caacitors Low oerating delay Comensation almost in real-time No oerating noise An overall view of technical details can be found on age 138. The housing dimensions are listed on age 140. The 3-hase thyristor switch thyroswitch 2P is a comact unit ready for connection and enables tuned and detuned caacitors to be connected and disconnected quickly and with no wear and tear. thyroswitch offers significant advantages over conventional standard rotections. Among other things, load on the caacitors is reduced by controlled switching, which increases their working life. When switched on, there is no eak inrush current, wear and tear on the switch contacts does not occur. The thyroswitch is controlled via the multicom reactive ower controller or directly via the machine control. The thyroswitch 2P has two thyristors which switch hases L1 and L3. Phase L2 is connected, but not switched on. If the switch-on rocedure is activated via a reactive ower controller or a control, there is a voltage comarison between the caacitor voltage and the mains voltage. If there is a slight difference, the stage is switched on.

The housing dimensions are listed on age 141. The thyristor switch thyroswitch 3P combines functional features already distinguished in the thyroswitch 2P: fast and wear and tear-free connecting and disconnecting of caacitors, unlimited switch frequency with low switch delay and comensation almost in real-time. The device generates no oerating noise whatsoever and has a comact construction ready for connection. thyroswitch 3P has three thyristors, each of which can switch alone or together. If the switch-on rocedure is activated via a reactive ower controller or a control, there is a voltage comarison between the caacitor voltage and the mains voltage. 180 Active harmonic filter BLUEwaVE Monitoring Otimizing Recording The active harmonic filter BLUEwaVE analyzes the measured consumer current in terms of the hase length and harmonic roortion. After this is calculated, an inverted current signal with the same sectrum is fed into the relevant current node oint. BLUEwaVE thereby controls the mains current in terms of minimal mains ollution and harmonics currents. This guarantees an otimal network quality without other consumers being imaired in their function.

181 Power Quality BluE wave Active harmonics filter BluEwaVE 200 a / 250 a / 300 a The largest model, for industrial uroses, rovides the highest ossible ower in a comact sace. The cabinet version contains interior air cooling and internal fluid cooling for the ower electronics. BluEwaVE 30 a / 50 a (3-wire) Sace-saving through comact construction and with a ower dissiation of only 1300 W, extremely economical. BluEwaVE 30 a / 60 a (4-wire) Comensates the harmonics occurring in the neutral conductor. Otimal for building engineering due to low noise develoment. BluEwaVE 100 a / 120 a The erfect standard solution in 3 and 4-wire networks with central couling to the consumer. PowER Quality

183 Power Quality BluE wave Active harmonics filter BLUEWAvE 100A / 120 A BLUEWAvE 200A / 250 A/ 300 A suitable roducts for every requirement BluEwaVE 30a / 50a (3-wire) Even the smallest version of BLUEWAvE guarantees comensation of harmonics u to the 50th harmonic, as well as reactive energy. Small dimensions and low weight enable a simle and sace-saving installation in every situation: both wall-mounted and switchgear cabinet are ossible u to rotection tye IP 54. With a ower dissiation of only 1300 W, this model is extremely economical. The reaction time of less than 300 μs in the UltraFast mode makes it ossible to otimally comensate even dynamic consumers. BluEwaVE 30a / 60a (4-wire) BLUEWAvE 30A / 60A also comensates the harmonics occurring in the neutral and is articularly suitable for comensating the third harmonic and all those above that dividable by three, u to the 50th harmonic. Due to its low noise develoment, this device is ideal for building technology e.g. for banks, comuter centers and hositals. BluEwaVE 100a / 120a Although hardly larger in weight and size than the comact versions of BLUEWAvE, this device is dimensioned for a current strength twice as high. This makes this filter at an excellent solution for all those who require more ower and are looking for a central couling to their consumers. The 3 and 4-wire technology enables it to be used in almost all surroundings. BluEwaVE 200a / 250a / 300a Dimensioned for a current strength u to 300 ams, this version of BLUEWAvE is suitable for the highest technical requirements as can be found in large roduction lants for examle in the automobile industry. So that it can work reliably even under extrem conditions, the filter in the cabinet version contains an interior air fan and in addition has an internal fluid cooling for the ower electronics, with an integrated water-air heat exchanger. 184 BluEwaVE the solution for better network quality situation: there is a quality roblem in the energy network of many comanies. % voltage distortion Safety and cost-effectiveness are central factors in comanies. One rerequisite of this is that technical infrastructures in the form of machines, roduction systems or office equiment function without trouble. This is often not the case: usually without a directly aarent reason, and desite UPS back-u and emergency generators. The consequences are: occasionally frequently acutely distribution lines and networks cannot be fully utilized high ercentage of energy losses in the networks increased wear and tear and limited availability of systems downtime for units and systems % use of ower electronics A clear global tendency: voltage distortion increases along with the growing use of ower electronics. Often the reason for breakdowns and remature wear and tear are ower quality roblems in the internal energy network. Measurements and network analyses can often detect the sources of the underlying roblem. solution: BluEwaVE eliminates harmonic and reduces the costs for reactive ower A clearly constructed and easily readable dislay reresents the values. Nearly all non-linear consumers in the industrial world cause massive voltage distortions of the original ure sinus curve. This is where BLUEWAvE is alied. Harmonic u to the 50th harmonic, as well as cost intensive reactive ower, are eliminated directly and reliably. This ensures a high network quality and reduces costs. Even saving reactive ower is reflected in lower oerating costs. Savings made as a consequence of lower equiment wear, fewer error searches or the revention of roduction stoages have a significantly higher imact. For this reason, BLUEWAvE ays for itself within a short time.

185 Power Quality BluE wave Active harmonics filter the advantages As an active harmonic filter of the newest generation, BLUEWAvE offers many advantages over conventional technology. BLUEWAvE is owerful, comact and fully digital, reacts within microseconds and reliably comensates current harmonics and reactive ower. With these features, the active harmonic filter resents itself as an all-in-one device for excellent ower quality without BluEwaVE Harmonics and reactive ower load the network and lead to roblems. with BluEwaVE Harmonics and reactive ower are comensated actively, the network quality is safeguarded. comact models for every requirement Whether building technology or automation technology: with its extensive range of models, BLUEWAvE is ideal for the most diverse alications. versions of the devices range from 30 to 300 Amere and 380 to 480 volts and this in 3 or 4-wire technology. Raid comensation almost in real-time The faster an active harmonic filter reacts to disrutions in the network, the more exactly does it comensate them. Since BLUEWAvE is fully digital, a reaction time of less than 300 microseconds is ossible. This way, BLUEWAvE ensures an excellent ower quality and rotects network comonents, cables and machines. Resistant towards external influences In industrial environments, clean room atmosheres do not always revail. The high-tech comonents in BLUEWAvE are therefore rotected from external influences. The 30 and 50-Amere versions are equied by default with rotection tye IP20, and thus rotected from dust. The 300 Amere version also resists sray water, thanks to rotection class IP54. high-erformance in a confined sace In comarison with other active ower filters, BLUEWAvE requires little sace. In its 50-Amere version, the device has external dimensions of only 36 x 59 x 29 cm and weighs less than 50 kg. This makes wall assembly ossible without any roblems. PowER Quality

186 BluEwaVE areas of deloyment The number of comanies and institutions that could clearly otimize their network quality with BLUEWAvE is huge. An efficient use of the active harmonic filter and building technology, as well as in machine and automation technology, is highly recommended. It makes sense to include the device in the lanning and imlementation stages of new systems. Of course BLUEWAvE can be intelligently integrated into existing systems and lants in which ower quality roblems occur. Building technology lifts comuter centers machines and drives automobile industry oil and gas drilling rigs Paer industry shi engines welding equiment steel industry tunnel ventilation systems uninterrutible ower sulies (ups) water urification lants wind turbines cement industry

187 Power Quality BluE wave Active harmonics filter oerating comfort click-and-start configuration multilanguage menu and control via software BLUEWAvE demonstrates flexibility in the fact that it can be couled on the load or network side to the energy suly via a numerous of current transformers. Configured with just a few clicks, the existing network current is ermanently measured, and any harmonics or hase shifts that occur are actively comensated. Within microseconds, BLUEWAvE calculates the aroriate comensation currents, makes these available and feeds them into the network. Fully digitized controls make this ossible, along with a high level of comuter rocessing ower. 225 Power Quality assembly Recommendations for oerating comensation systems When installing modules in third arty cabinets, ensure that there is a articularly good heat dissiation. For owers greater than 100 kvar, KBR recommends the installation of a fan with thermostat control. In existing systems, regularly clean the filter mats. Detuned facilities may not be oerated with non-detuned caacitors on the same busbar, since there is a danger here of a arallel resonance. Detuned facilities need to be regularly checked, since overloads could occur through changes in caacity. Power caacitors are manufactured and tested in accordance with vde 0560 Part 46. The temerature class T40 (temerature of the surrounding air) alies for the deloyment: maximum briefly: 40 c highest average over 24 hours: 30 c highest average over 1 year: 20 c.
