Station KFGT, kcs., 100 watts, Fremont, Nebraska takes pleasure in verifying your reception of this station on March 22nd, 1954, during our special DX program for the National Radio Club. We are indeed sorry for the delay, which was caused mainly by a change in personnel. KFGT operates with unlimited time and 100 watts on a frequency of 1340 kcs. The station has been on the air for many years, beginning with the call- letters of KORN and a power of 250 watts on 1400 kcs. IN March of the call -letters were changed to the present KFGT, and frequency went to 131E_0 kcs. with 100 watts, as the kcs. frequency was given to Lincoln, Nebr. The station was at this time bought by the Fremont Guide and Tribune, hence, the last three letters F -G -T. KF!GT operates from 6 am to 10 pm CST, and has no scheduled frequency check; instead it is mpasured during the regular programming by KOIL in Omaha, The station utilizes a Collins 300A transmitter running a p owwrer of 100 watts. Only 100 watts is authorized because of the proximity of stations in Estherville, Iowa and Kearney, Nebraska on the same frequency. The antenna is a uniform cross- section, guyed, vertical radiator 182 feet high and is located a mile and a half north -east of the center of Fremont, just east of highway #275. You might be interested to know that KFGT's 100 watts were reported by 53 DXers in 25 states and Cana-a. Leading states were Pa. with 8; N.Y. with 6, and Ohio and Illinois with 5 apiece. We were really pleasantly surprised to find that KJSK is reaching out into so many spots on the map during our test period. Radio Station KJSK is a new station and has thus far only conducted equipment tests. Our power is 1000 watts. The transmitter is Gates 1000 watts BC1E. A quarter wave 260 foot series fed Wincharger tower is our antenna. The response from the many listeners during the wee hours of the morning made it possible for the engineering department to know that the coverage was complete for the antenna used. We especially want to thank the members of the National Radio Club and other DX fans as well as occasional passing listeners which gave us such a complete report as to how the station was received at their listening point.
