1 BESYSTEM PRACTCES A7&TCo Standard SECTON ssue 7, September 1980 SERVCE AND TYPE TEEPHONE SETS CONNECTONS AND MANTENANCE 1. GENERA 1.01 This section contains information for the 2630DA (MD), 26630DAM (MD), or 2630DAMS (18-button) and 2631DA (MD), 2631DAM (MD), or 2631DAMS1 (30-button) (Fig. 1, 2, and 3) telephone sets. These sets may be equipped with different modular key arrangements. The telephone sets will accommodate 63-type or 68A keys, 76A lamp sockets, and/or a 679A (MD) internal transmitter This section is reissued to Show the 2630DAM and 2631DAM telephone sets MD Add the 2630DAMS1 and 2631DAMS1 telephone sets Add new Fig. 1 Revise Tables A, B, C, and E Add new polarity guard $The new S coded telephone sets are similar to the previous type sets except they are equipped with a new line switch which breaks both the tip and ring side of the line. Previous t,ype sets only broke the ring side of the line.q 2. CONNECTONS 2.o1 The and 2631-type telephone sets were equipped with a 63AC (-line pickup and hold) or a 63ADC (-line pickup, cutoff, and hold) key in the first module position. $Current and 2631-type sets are only equipped with a 63AC key in the first module position.t Contact strip assemblies [required with sets equipped with a D120K (MD) or D200S (MD) mounting cord] differ between the two keys. f ordered for field replacement, the 63ADC is furnished with a piggy-back adapter in the cut-off key position, for storing the slate mounting cord plug associated with the fifth line. The necessary contact strip assemblies ( and ) will be shipped with the 63ADC and will replace the and assemblies supplied with the 63AC key. Note: Contact strips are not required with sets equipped with a D120M or D200AA mounting cord or sets equipped with a modified D120K or D200S mounting cord The 2630DAM (MD) and 2631 DAM (MD) modular telephone sets are similar to the 2630DA (MD) or 2631DA (MD), respectively, except the modular G1A handset with its associated HDU cord and 616E jack assembly are used in place of the hard wired G3A-type handset. OThe S coded sets also use the same modular handset, cord, and jack.t 2.03 Because of the physical arrangement of the 63-type key, the contact strips do not extend to the chaining switch. This requires a second tip and ring conductor to each module (except the last). See Fig., Sheets 1 through. 2.0 The line conductors of the mounting cords for these sets terminate in individual plugs on a per line basis and are connected to the rear of the keys. This permits rearrangement of line appearances either in the set or at the key equipment distribution point. 2.0 These sets can be used with 1A, la1, 1A2, 6A, or 6B KTS. Refer to Table A or B for key modular arrangements. NOTCE Not for use or disclosure outside the Bell System except under written agreement Printed in U.S.A. Page 1

2 SECTON Refer to Table C for connections when 63ADC cut off key is used in first module All line pickup key positions are convertible to signaling or common signaling arrangements by removing the (P-28E773) screw from key positions involved and making the necessary wiring changes per Table D A KS (10 volt ac only) buzzer is factory-installed for use as a second audible signal, when required. This arrangement uses (S-Y) and (Y-S) mounting cord conductors from (0) binder in the second module (Fig. ) These sets may be used with either the 3-type (MD) or A speakerphone systems Sets may be equipped for 3-type (MD) speakerphone by the addition of a 679A (MD) transmitter in the 3rd (2630-type) or th (2631-type) module (Fig. ). Refer to Section for necessary wiring changes and connections When the 3-type (MD) speakerphone control unit is located near the telephone set and an internal transmitter (679A) is used, an A2B connector cable should be plugged into the last mounting cord plug and terminated on the -type control unit terminal board To retain the maximum number of keys in the CA DRECTOR telephone sets and still have 3-type (MD) speakerphone feature, a 666A (MD) or 666B (MD) transmitter and 760A (MD) loudspeaker may be installed as adjuncts to the telephone set. Spare leads and hold key lamp leads from the first module are used to supply the external speakerphone function. When control unit and telephone set are at same location, an auxiliary mounting cord (D1OR) may be used. Refer to Section for complete connections to 3-type (MD) speakerphone Refer to Section for connections to the current A speakerphone system. 2.1 The hold key in the first module is used for normal hold functions or if required 1 Hold. An additional hold key can be installed in the second key module location for Priority HoM. The D Kit of Parts consisting of a 63AC key, two contact strip assemblies, and a pink plug assembly must be ordered separately for Priority Hold. (a) nstall as follows. (1) Unplug and remove existing 63GC key from second module. (2) nstall contact strips and associated leads if applicable (see note). Note: Contact strips are not required with sets equipped with a D120M or D200AA mounting cord or sets equipped with a modified D120K or D200S mounting cord. (3) Place the pink plug assembly from the kit of parts into the hold position on the 63AC key. nsulate and store the white set plug. Place the remaining set plugs into there proper positions on the key. () Make the necessary wiring connections and modifications as shown in Fig When required, these sets may be equipped with a polarity guard. Polarity guards should be installed only when specified by local instructions for end-to-end signaling purposes when battery and ground reversals are encountered. An guard assembly must be ordered separately and connected as shown in Table E For station busy lamp feature with 3-type (MD) or A speakerphone system, refer to Fig. 7 and 8, respectively. 3. MANTENANCE 3.10 Maintenance of these sets should be limited to replacement of items available through regular supply channels. Refer to the reference Section Maintenance of components of these sets such as dials, ringers, etc. is covered in sections pertaining to the particular component. Maintenance information common to CA DRECTOR sets can be found in Section Do not use sokents to clean plastic parts of these sets. Use a damp cloth only. f discolored, replace part. Page 2
