2 instructions The artefact is a sealed resistive voltage divider of known ratio. The serial number of your test piece is on a label attached to your sample. The target standard of this program is IEC clauses 13 and 16. There are other standards to which this program are equally applicable, particularly IEC clause 5. 3 instructions Dielectric Strength Test This is a test of the high voltage test equipment used by the laboratory. Whilst based on IEC , any available equipment may be applied. As mains power is not required, the connection of fig 8 of the standard is not applicable and the device should be stabilised at normal laboratory temperature of 20 C±5K You are asked to apply the voltage generated by your normal High Voltage Test set, equivalent to test voltage for basic insulation. Please apply the test between High and Common (V1) and measuring the resultant voltage between Low and Common using a high input impedance (1Megohm or higher) volt meter (V2). The AC voltage to be applied for the electric strength test is 1000V. V2 should be measured by a true rms meter. Provision is given to specify the type of Voltmeter used for both V1 and V2 in the results sheet. The applied voltage (V1) is to be measured by the normal method for determining the electric strength voltage. If the laboratory uses a DC HV source as permitted in other standards, the measurement may also be made at DV. Measure the voltages at the stabilised value applied at the beginning of the test and one minute later at the end of the test. Record leakage current if available as part of the test rig. 8 Leakage Current Test The rated voltage for the purposes of this clause is 230 volts. You are asked to apply 1.06 times rated voltage between the High and Common connections with your normal leakage meter, complying with the requirements of IEC annex G, connected between Low and Common.
