Cooling is accomplished by water. This tube is equipped with a removable water jacket. At frequencies above 50 MHz, filament voltage is reduced so that ratio of filament voltage to current becomes the same than without anode voltage. 3 Cooling characteristics To obtain optimum life, temperature of the seals and envelope, under normal operating conditions, should be kept below 220 C. It is recommended to use an additional cooling by an air flow rate of approximately 0.5 m 3 /mn channelled on tube terminal side. Absolute maximum inlet water-cooling pressure = 5 bars If tube is mounted in normal position (anode down), water in anode cooling jacket has to flow in arrow-marked direction. When using the tube in reverse position (anode up), input and output water connections should be reversed. Distilled, deionized or industrial water may be used for cooling. When using industrial water (minimum resistivity : 5 kω.cm), maximum temperature allowed at outlet is 60 C. Water flow rate and pressure drop required for a particular anode dissipation may be read off appropriate cooling curves (apply for industrial water). See page 4.
