11 NGTC WP6 outcomes Preferred frequency range are different between Main Line and urban Migration Propagation conditions Main line Need to re use existing site (roughtly each 7km) Open space or large station : Use of omni antennas Long range possible (no blocking point) Urban Tunnels : possibility to avoid leaky cables when using higher frequencies directive antennas are preferred blocking trains less disturbing with high frequencies

Eligible (between 2,6GHz and 6 GHz?) p No Candidate in 5.9 GHz bands; but coexistence and possibly cooperation with ITS communications still into investigation SATCOM in L and S bands Assuming that there is a complementary atmospheric vector where satellite coverage is obstructed No (tunnels + latency issues)

Currently CBTC is more demanding Train control Voice Others (optional in NGTC study) Main line ERTMS is requesting low throughput, and admit holes Mandatory feature. Driver of the needs.. Not taken into account in NGTC study To be seen in FRMCS URS and S2Rail study Urban 128kb/s per train is requested Low latency and no holes are requested Requested but often covered by separate radio communication system Request for CCTV ask high throughput. Also currently covered by separate radio communication system
