ADS-B input CAT021 / CAT023 Supported update rate of 2Hz / target Data filters Detection of ADS-B duplicates (same measurement received from different ground stations) Target Report Filtering based upon black-lists (aircraft addresses to be filtered out) or white-lists (aircraft addresses to not filter out) Geographical target report filtering (only reports within a domain of interest are processed) Target report filtering based on emitter category (ES, VDL4, UAT) Target report filtering based on time-of-applicability, time-ofmessage-reception COMSOFT GmbH IAP and Quadrant Presentation May 2011 Page 4
ADS-B processing Usage and processing of ADS-B validation results as encoded in target reports (Position change/velocity Validation, Time of Arrival Validation, WAM Integration Validation, Angle of Arrival Validation, Power/Range Validation Ground station monitoring based upon CAT23 input Tracking based upon all surveillance data sources, incl. ADS-B: Data fusion: serve fused surveillance track updates to downstream systems (CWPs, etc.), based upon target reports and plots from classical radar, Mode S radar, ADS-B and WAM surveillance data sources Track updates contain position, velocity, status, SSR codes, emergency codes, DAPs, etc. obtained from onboard systems (Aircraft Derived Data) and surveillance ground sensors (Radars, WAM, etc.) Benefit from good ADS-B accuracy by means of equally good tracking accuracy Support of at least 1090 Extended Squitter MOPS DO-260, MOPS DO- 260A and MOPS DO-260-B, and corresponding decoding and usage of NUCp, NIC, NACp, SIL, PIC COMSOFT GmbH IAP and Quadrant Presentation May 2011 Page 5
ADS-B processing Quick track initiation on ADS-B reports Store and forward of Downlink Aircraft parameters Usage of DAPs (position, track angle, ground speed, etc.) for tracking Usage of ADS-B validation results for tracking: possibility to initiate new ADS-B only system track for doubtful reports (configurable), set track validation flag for track update based on received ADS-B validation flags Indication of discrepancies between ADS-B and radar-reported emergency codes (7500, 7600, 7700) Calculation of ADD biases and accuracies (aircraft dependent error characteristics, e.g. time bias, etc,) together with the error characteristics of the surveillance ground sensors ADS-B report to track association also for partial measurements (e.g. for reports containing only speed vector but not position) Geometric height tracking (GNSS height, 3D, height, etc.) in addition to barometric height tracking and credibility checking ADS-B blunder detection (blunders indicated by blunder bit in track update, or indicated as split track) COMSOFT GmbH IAP and Quadrant Presentation May 2011 Page 6
ADS-B processing ADS-B blunder monitoring (detect a sequence of position blunders with consistent aircraft behaviour and correct the track state vector accordingly) Track services including the ADS-B triggered track updates: Data format: CAT062 / CAT063 Service of DAPs (values and ages) Track update indicators incl. ADS-B updates Track service update rates of 1Hz to make full use of high input rates from ADS-B Track selectors including ADS-B update status and emitter category update status Sensor status service (CAT063) including status for ADS-B ground stations (as received with CAT 023) CWPs: Track visualisation incl. ADS-B Track symbols possible to indicate ADS-B update status Surveillance data source status incl. ADS-B ground station status COMSOFT GmbH IAP and Quadrant Presentation May 2011 Page 7
New ADS-B System requirements ED-129 or ED142 EUROCAE ED-129 system requirements being introduced in 2012 for ADS-B ground stations and processing systems like data fusion or ARTAS tracker. Suppliers needed over one year to adapt their existing ground stations and other processing systems. ATC system change takes much longer and we have the situation where surveillance equipment produces data formats that existing ATC systems may have problems with. Experience with existing installations have shown irregularities. COMSOFT GmbH IAP and Quadrant Presentation May 2011 Page 8
