RULES 1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) as published by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and amended by the US Sailing Prescriptions, the Notice of Race, and these Sailing Instructions. 1.2 The Organizing Authority is the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club ( DCYC ). 2. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS 2.1 Notices to competitors will be posted on the Official Regatta Notice Board located on the outside of the south wall of the clubhouse. 2.2 Competitors should monitor VHF channel 68 for on the water communications with the Race Committee during starting sequence. When competitors are nearing the finish line, they shall hail Race Committee on VHF channel 68 to announce their finish. In the event Race Committee does not respond to a finishing boat s hail, that finishing boat shall record their finishing time and present it to Race Committee at the first available opportunity. 3. CHANGES IN SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 3.1 Changes to these Sailing Instructions will be posted no later 10AM Saturday, December SIGNALS MADE ASHORE 4.1 Signals made ashore for the Cruising Fleet will be displayed near the gazebo located on the DCYC breakwater. 4.2 When AP is displayed ashore for the Cruising Fleet, further information will be conveyed on VHF channel 68. When AP is lowered on shore, this indicates the starting sequence shall begin in thirty (30) minutes. 5. SKIPPERS MEETING AND SCHEDULE OF RACES 5.1 A Competitor s Briefing will be held Saturday, December 15 at 10:00 AM at the crane pad. 5.2 Schedule of racing is as follows: Saturday, December 15: Starting sequence begins at 11:30 AM. 6. CLASS FLAGS 6.1 There will be no flags used for starting the Cruising Fleet. Each competitor is responsible for keeping track of their own starting time and starting accordingly. The official time is per the Radio-Controlled Clock located in the downstairs area of the clubhouse by the South entrance. Race Committee will assist with starts by sighting the starting line from shore and calling out over early boats on VHF channel 68. Failure to make or receive such broadcasts shall not be grounds for redress. This changes RRS 62.1(a). 7. COURSES

2 7.1 The Cruising Fleet course will be chosen from among the options listed in the attachment below. Competitors shall not at any time sail within five boat lengths of either starting line or the turning marks of the around-the-buoy course. Similarly, every effort should be made to avoid interfering with any boat actively racing on that course. 8. MARKS 8.1 Marks will be various permanent marks located throughout the lake as described in the Lake Map attachment below. All marks are to be rounded to port. For all courses, when sailing under the Lake Lewisville Toll Bridge, competitors mush sail through the center, arched span of the bridge. 9. CHECKING IN Upon leaving the harbor, each competitor should check in with Race Committee on VHF channel 68 by hailing its sail number (if it has one) and boat name. 10. THE START 10.1 Races will be started by using a reverse-handicap start based upon the course identified in the attachment below. Starting times are determined by the course selection and PHRF rating. Competitors may declare spinnaker or non-spinnaker. Non-spinnaker boats will add 18 to the base PHRF rating. Race Committee will make a final decision on the course no later than fifteen (15) minutes prior to the beginning of the starting sequence by announcing the Course Number on VHF channel The Starting line will be between the Red and Green permanent marks located southwest of the yacht club shoreline and as identified on the Lake Map Attachment below. 11. THE FINISH The finish line will be between the Red and Green permanent marks located southwest of the yacht club shoreline and as identified on the Lake Map Attachment below. Competitors shall finish by sailing straight through the line in the same direction as the current leg of the race without having to round either mark. 12. TIME LIMIT 12.1 The race shall end at 4:30 PM, or when the last yacht finishes, whichever is earlier. Boats that have not finished within the Time Limit will receive a DNF score. 13. SAFETY A boat that retires from a race prior to finishing shall notify the Race Committee on VHF channel 68 or immediately after arriving ashore. 14. SCORING 14.1 One (1) race constitutes a regatta. 15. PROTESTS 15.1 Protests shall be in accordance with Rule 61, as modified herein Protests shall be written using protest forms available from a representative of the protest committee at the Registrar s Desk and shall be submitted to the protest committee representative within the Protest Time, The Protest Time will be 5:30 PM on Saturday, December Notices of protests will be posted on the Official Notice Board within thirty (30) minutes after the Protest Time Limit to inform competitors of hearings in which they are parties or named as witnesses. Hearings will be held in the protest room located at upstairs at the west end of the clubhouse as soon as practical after a protest has been filed The protest committee will hear protests in approximately the order of receipt. 16. PRIZES The number of prizes awarded within a class will be dependent upon the number of entries as outlined in the Notice of Regatta.
