6 Data Retention 6 ERCOT data retention consists of maintaining 400 days of full fidelity phasor data. ERCOT data retention of full fidelity phasor data gathered during system events extends indefinitely The NERC PRC Reliability Standard requires a minimum 10 calendar day data retention window. NERC MOD-026 and MOD-027 Reliability Standards require a minimum 3 year data retention window. ERCOT Nodal Operating Guide section 6 requires disturbance data retention for three years.

Adds functionality not provided by SCADA or State Estimator b. Addresses RC visibility for localized and Inter-area oscillations 2. Generator model validation a. Supports MOD Exciter model verification b. Supports MOD Turbine/governor model verification c. Addresses requirements for TP and GO 3. Post-disturbance analysis and reporting a. 17 Generator Parameter Determination Need: PMU data (Voltage Phasor, P & Q) can advise generator dynamic response following a nearby transient, compares results to simulated response (based on system planning models), and alerts if differences are significant (meaning that the generator response to the transient event was different from what was expected) EXAMPLE: PMU DATA USED TO VALIDATE AND CALIBRATE GENERATOR MODELS Possible Action: Advance Network Applications expert or System Planning dynamics expert reviews the event and the generator response differences, and if necessary, triggers the capture of the current grid state for further study System Planning dynamics expert coordinates with generator owner to investigate the reasons for unexpected generator response System Planning Dynamics Working Group utilizes the apparent unit parameters and system response data to tune/benchmark the dynamic model associated with the unit in the ERCOT DWG dynamic dataset
