During this workshop, you ll have a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to photograph for an entire week in early Spring with NO TOURISTS present...private access! Imagine an explosive, Spring color palette consisting of tulips, daffodils, forget-me-nots, pansies, narcissus, flowering cherry and crabapple trees, and many other vibrant plants and flowers. In addition, treat your soul (and lenses) to magical abstract reflections in Monet s famous water lily pond. You ll gain daily private access to the world-famous Garden and Estate in the early mornings and early evenings, before the Garden opens and after it closes to the public, with magic hour light. Throughout the week, Charles will share special techniques he has developed for creating striking, abstract, painterly Impressionistic flower and garden images that express feeling and evoke emotion. Primary emphasis will be placed upon seeing and feeling and on learning how to express effectively what you see and feel, as well as the creative process itself. You ll receive lots of 1-on-1 personalized instruction from Charles and Freeman both in the Garden and classroom, and there will be plenty of lectures, assignments and supportive group image evaluations. TOUR LAND COST PER GUEST: $4,895 based on double occupancy and a minimum of 12 paying guests. A limited number of single supplements are also available for $750 each on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do our best to find a suitable roommate for you, if necessary. Submission of an online or printed Booking Form along with payment of required trip deposit indicates you have read and expressly agree to these Terms and Conditions. If there is something you do not understand, please ask us about it! Reservations and Payments A deposit of $2,000 per person is required at the time of booking. Early-bird registration deadline is October 31, We cannot guarantee your spot, or room type, until we receive your deposit check. Total package price increases to $5,495 (double occupancy) after October 31, Deposit payment must be postmarked before October 31, Written confirmation will be provided upon receipt of this deposit. The full remaining balance will be due no later than January 7, Final payment made after that date is subject to a $500 late fee, plus interest charges. We prefer payment by check; however, credit card payments can be made with a 4% surcharge. Number of Guests -- A maximum of 12 guests (plus the tour operator and assistant) can be accommodated. A minimum of 12 guests is required to operate the workshop at the quoted price. Purchase of non-refundable services outside of the trip itinerary (such as airline tickets) before the minimum number of guests have registered is at the sole risk and expense of the guest. Cancellations All cancellations must be made in writing. If you cancel before November 31, 2018, you will receive a full refund, minus a $500 processing fee. We apologize, no refunds for cancellations after November 31, As noted, final payment is due January 7, 2019 and is non-refundable. Accordingly we strongly recommended that you purchase appropriate trip cancellation insurance. We would be happy to provide you with a reputable third-party company in order to purchase cancellation insurance. Service Fees, Tips & Taxes Today there are frequently service charges and taxes imposed by hotels, suppliers, and governments. These fees and taxes are included to the extent possible, but where pre-payment is not possible, the amounts concerned must be paid locally by workshop attendees. Freeman Patterson lives at Shamper s Bluff, New Brunswick, near his childhood home and has been teaching week-long photography and visual design workshops there since In 1984, he co-founded the Namaqualand Photographic Workshops in South Africa. In addition, Freeman has given numerous workshops in the United States, Israel, New Zealand and Australia. Although Freeman does much of his photographic work at home, he travels widely to photograph and to teach. Since 1973 he has frequently presented half-day and all-day seminars to large groups (50 to 4000 persons) in the visual arts, music, education, and ecology across Canada, the United States, and in several other countries. Since 1977 he has written and illustrated four instructional books on photography and visual design and has co-authored a fifth. Also, he has written and illustrated six large cloth-edition books, and co-authored and illustrated two more. His first as solo author was Namaqualand: Garden of the Gods in 1984, which was followed by Portraits of Earth in In 1996 he authored ShadowLight: A Photographer s Life, a major retrospective book of text and photographs, followed by Odysseys: Meditations and Thoughts For A Life s Journey in 1998 and The Garden in In 1996 he produced a CD-ROM entitled Creating Pictures: A Visual Design Workshop. Freeman also has written for various magazines, CBC radio, and been featured on CBC television s Man Alive, Sunday Arts And Entertainment, and Adrienne Clarkson Presents. From September 2013 to mid January 2014 the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Fredericton, New Brunswick, mounted a large retrospective exhibition (115 prints) of Freeman s work, curated by Tom Smart. This exhibition, Embracing Creation, was accompanied by major publication with the same title (125 prints, 12 essays by Freeman and a major essay on Freeman s artistic career by the curator, Tom Smart). For six years Freeman was a national trustee of the Nature Conservancy of Canada and in 1997 donated his property on Shamper s Bluff to the conservancy for an ecological reserve and education area.
