1 Introduction The Omega D2V enlarger is a B&W enlarger equipped with lenses and negative carriers for the following film formats: Format Lens Condenser Position Max. Magnification Ratio Min.

2 1 Introduction The Omega D2V enlarger is a B&W enlarger equipped with lenses and negative carriers for the following film formats: Format Lens Condenser Position Max. Magnification Ratio Min. Magnification Ratio 35mm 50mm x 5.25x 6x6cm 75mm x 2x 4x5in 135mm x 1.5x The lenses are mounted on lens-mounts for easy interchangeability. The condenser is adjustable by moving an auxiliary lens to various positions within the condenser housing. 2 Changing The Lens When not in use please leave the 135mm lens/lens-mount in place, the other lens/ lensmount assemblies should be stored in the plastic boxes in the drawer below the enlarger (the 135mm lens is in a lens-mount too tall to fit in the below bench storage). The lens-mounts have circular flanges with two flats. To remove a lens-mount loosen the two knurled screws on the underside of the lens stage then support the lens-mount while turning a quarter turn. Then lower the lensmount and store properly. To install a lens-mount reverse the procedure making sure the knurled screws are retightened (do not over-tighten). 3 3 Adjusting the Condenser The auxiliary lens position in the condenser must match the lens being used; the appropriate positions are shown in the table above and on the inside of the housing trapdoor. To re-position the auxiliary lens open the trapdoor and carefully slide the lens out then replace in the desired position. Handle the lens with care to prevent it getting scratched or marked with fingerprints, with this design of enlarger such damage may show up on the print. 5 Inserting the Negative The negative holders are a two-piece design; the negative is sandwiched between the two halves.

Once the carrier is seated close the stage using the lifting lever.

The negative carrier is inserted such that the two notches on the rear engage with the two pins at the rear of the film stage. Once the carrier is seated close the stage using the lifting lever. Lifting lever (shown with film stage in closed position) Move lifting lever to this stop to hold film stage open 6 Adjusting Magnification Loosen the lock then adjust the enlarger head height by turning the crank on the right hand side of the enlarger. For focusing and composing the image on the easel the lamp can be turned on continuously using the focus switch.

5 7 Adjusting Focus The focus is adjusted by moving the lens stage up or down using the focus knob on the right hand side of the enlarger. Focus knob 8 Making the Exposure An electronic timer that allows exposure times to be pre-set in 0.1s increments controls the lamp. For focusing and composing the image on the easel the lamp can be turned on continuously using the focus switch. Caution: Do not leave the lamp operating using the focus switch for long periods of time. Leaving the lamp operating for a long period of time will shorten the working life of the lamp and cause heat build up in the lamp house. 9 Replacing the Lamp Caution: Switch off the power to the enlarger before replacing the lamp. The lamp is located in the lamp-house at the top of the enlarger. To replace the lamp loosen the securing screws then lift off the lamp-house. The old lamp can then be unscrewed and a new one fitted. Replace the lamp-house and tighten the securing screws (do not over-tighten). The lamp type is GE PH211 (75W). Lamp-house securing screws Omega D2V Operating Notes 5
