Spring 2015 SCARVES
DESIGN WITH A STORY Front Row Society is a unique fashion brand that gives everyone the chance to become a designer. Each month a new creative brief is set online at Anyone from around the world can submit a design inspired by that month s chosen theme. The designs are voted for by the public and the winning design is made into a Front Row Society scarf, bag or pair of leggings and sold around the world. This unique concept means that Front Row Society always produces fresh and diverse collections; keeping a close eye on trends but forever pushing boundaries with design.
FRS / SPRING 2015 / ARTISANAL BOTANIST ARTISANAL BOTANIST For the Artisanal Botanist challenge, we asked the design community to explore the darker side of botany, the side that scratches and stings. To think about the botanists of the past, bravely setting off into the unknown with their jars and notebooks, crawling through jungles and navigating deserts. The results, we re sure you ll agree, were breathtaking: a medley of nature s dark secrets.

FRS / SPRING 2015 / HOMESPUN WISDOM HOMESPUN WISDOM As a brand specializing in digital prints, we do get a little nostalgic every now and then for simpler times, when prints were made the old fashioned way: manually, through weaving or hand-dying. So for this challenge, we asked our designers to dive into traditional textile techniques like Shibori: an ancient Japanese dyeing method. We now present our selection in our Homespun Wisdom collection

FRS / SPRING 2015 /PORTRAITS PORTRAITS As the title suggests, for this challenge we asked the design community to delve into the centuries-old art of portraiture. From expressive pieces of delicate facial contouring, or studies of a particular feature; to abstract works using a range of mixed media that bring whole new aspects to the concept of portraiture; we feel our designers have shown their true artistic faces.

QUALITIES CASHMERE Cashmere is one of the finest and most luxurious materials in the world. The fibers are sourced from the undercoats of cashmere goats, which are what makes this fabric so warming despite its light weight, and gives it such a supremely soft texture. Front Row Society has invested years of research into finding the perfect blend of high quality cashmere for our scarves; reflecting the brilliant craftsmanship that goes into our artists designs, and displaying their colors at their finest. Our cashmere comes from experienced manufacturers in the Kashmir region in India, an area with a long-standing tradition of cashmere production. Their knowledge and skills with this fabric have been passed down from generation to generation, allowing us to develop our superior cashmere blend with them. In order to guarantee the longevity of our prints, we have added a little silk into the mix, up to 10% of the overall fabric. This enables the colors of our scarves to retain their luminosity, and means they remain soft and flexible after washing. CASHMERE MODAL VISCOSE MODAL With our viscose modal blend fabric, we wanted to bring together the best of both materials. So combine with our experienced producers, we developed this loosely woven, modern looking fabric, similar to cotton in terms of its lightness, but much softer. Both viscose and modal are formed through different methods of treating cellulose, an organic compound found in plants; this gives the fabric a breathable quality, keeping you warm without overheating. SILK COTTON The fibers of silk are sourced from the cocoon of the mulberry silkworm, and are considered some of the strongest, most durable natural fibers in the world. First developed in Ancient China over a thousand years ago, we knew this was the only place where we could find the quality of silk to meet our standards. The silk from China is in a class of its own: above-average elasticity, and excellent heat and moisture retention. To give our scarves a modern look and feel, we combine our luxurious silks with a light cotton blend. Our quality modal fabric is formed from cellulose, a natural component of wood and plants. It is also described as superior viscose, due to its higher strength, greater absorbency and breathability and improved heat retention. Combined with our fine cashmere wool, this quality material is the perfect fusion of luxury and functionality. Our cashmere modal scarves are extremely soft and feel wonderful on the skin.
