You will explore different ideas associated with surrealist imagery. This level will introduce you to a number of key photographers and key photographic terms to help in your understanding of the technical language associated with photography. All the exercises and assignments that you complete should be presented in your e sketchbook ready for assessment. Level Aims The Level aims to: familiarise students with key photographic techniques associated with poster design. provide opportunity to practise camera technique in relation to view points and views through openings. explain how to enhance imagery using Photoshop and camera raw to emphasise texture. explore potential page layouts in InDesign relating to the theme. Learning Outcomes You will produce a series of e - sketchbook pages reflecting the exercises completed over the project. You will understand how to use InDesign to produce an e-sketchbook. You will understand how to make contact sheets. You will understand how to present contact sheets and edits in your e-sketchbook. You will develop your visual skills to assess what is effective in a photograph in terms of emotion and authenticity. You will gain knowledge about a key photographer s work
2 and how to analyse it. You will have experimented with a variety of visual display strategies and techniques. You will gain confidence in the use of Photoshop and InDesign. You will be able to explain how surrealist photography has developed over the last century. Assessment No. of hours of scheduled activity 10 hours No. of hours of independent study 4 hours Total 14 hours What is being assessed: i) Exercise presentations in your E-Sketchbook. ii) Practical response to the assignment brief in your E-Sketchbook. iii) The Learning log using the blog commentary. iv) Home study preparation and attitude towards learning. v) Peer support using blog commentary. Throughout this level you will receive i) Formative assessment comprising audio feedback from the teacher. ii) Summative assessment out of 80 marks using AQA assessment matrix.

Exercise 10d Analysis Movie Posters Find two movie posters from different decades or different cultures that are advertising the same film Compare what has changed and what has stayed the same. 6 Level 10 PHGCSE10 Photography10: FANTASTIC AND STRANGE Assignment Create a poster for a movie called FANTASTIC AND STRANGE which makes use of two of the exercises from Level 10 CHECKLIST YES / NO I have collected and presented lots of examples of movie poster designs. I have created pages for my E-Sketchbook using InDesign I have completed E - Sketchbook pages for all the exercises for this level I have photographed a wide range of content relating to the theme. I have edited the photographs using Camera Raw and Photoshop I have included TWO of the exercise techniques in my photographs for the assignment I have used at least one of the following techniques in my final assignment Bleaching the photograph Scratching into the photograph Tearing up the photograph Collaging the photographs Creating a joiner Stitching into the photographs Cropping some photographs I have included contact sheets in my E-Sketchbook I have included an evaluation in my E - Sketchbook I have used my blog to document my Learning Log
