2 About Instant Tours Instant Tours are sightseeing tours with vintage Polaroid cameras. An Instant Tour is a guided photo tour and a new way to experience a city. The attendees learn about the history of instant-photography and how to use the original, vintage Polaroid camera and new Polaroid Originals instant film. For the best experience the tours have no minimum number of participants and are usually capped at 8 attendees. The tours local photo guides help them in creating their own, personal and per definition unique Polaroid souvenirs.

3 The world s first Polaroid Photo Tour launched in 2013 in Vienna, Austria. Instant Tours is a registered European trademark owned by the Viennese company Sophort which was founded by Thomas Preyer and Gilbert Lechner. The first branch location was opened with a franchise partner in Warsaw, Poland in Later Sophort opened up branches in Graz and Salzburg in Austria, followed by their first foreign branch in Barcelona, Spain. In 2018 the expansion with franchise partners continued as six new destinations opened their doors: Paris, Florence, Hong Kong, Athens, Santiago de Chile and Washington, DC. Instant Tours are now present in 10 cities, 8 countries and 4 continents.

6 How it started? Thomas started shooting with Polaroid cameras back in 2010 when Polaroid discontinued the production of their instant film and The Impossible Project started with the production of new film for the millions of still existing and mostly perfectly fine working instant cameras. Soon he discovered that starting out with instant-photography was not as easy as one might think. It was a cumbersome process: Where do I buy a camera, what film do I need and how does it work? A lot of first time users lost their interest after being frustrated about the results they were getting.

7 He thought, that most of the problems they ran into could have been avoided if they would ve had access to a number of crucial pieces information and some hands-on tips. Therefore he started giving workshops for people who were interested in getting to know more about Polaroid. His cofounder Gilbert, they know each other from a start-up event, attended one of the first workshops. He discovered, that while learning about technical aspects and theoretical tips was crucial, the part that brought most joy to the attendees was the photo walk at the end of the workshop. After seeing Thomas vacation Polaroids the idea for Instant Tours was born: A city to explore, a local photo guide and a Polaroid camera to create unique souvenirs that one can take home with.
