3 04 PEARL HOW TO APPLY PEARL You can achieve a variety of effects with Pearl finish by altering the application techniques of the second coat. Remember each brush stroke will reflect light differently, making it visible when it dries. This elegant finish captures the rich lustre of a natural pearl, creating a soft pearlescent finish. Experiment with Wattyl Interior Design Features & Effects Pearl techniques to create a number of different looks, whether its a subtle dragged finish, a modern circle feature wall or a stylishly painted piece of furniture. Cut in using a brush or a 10mm nap roller around the edges first. Carefully lay off the paint in one direction from top to bottom for an even finish. For a criss cross finish, apply your second coat with a 10mm roller. While the paint is still wet, use a dry brush to make criss cross patterns on the wall. If you want a more subtle dragged finish to your wall, use a wide 100mm brush or a household broom. While your second coat is drying, drag the brush lightly from the top to the bottom of the wall. Repeat this across the width of the wall ensuring that you maintain straight lines. 4 06 Gypsies Scarf STONE Wattyl Interior Design Features & Effects Stone is a uniquely formulated paint that has been designed to imitate the look of worn stone. Use it in feature areas to create impact or for a natural, textured effect. Soft Chalk HOW TO APPLY STONE Stone is easy to apply using a roller and brush combination. The finish will slowly bloom over the next 48 hours to achieve the final effect. The final finish will vary depending on the method of application you use. Use a roller on your first coat for a more textured finish, or a brush for a softer, suede finish. Elder Flower Cut into edges and corners using a generous amount of paint. Ensure you don t leave any thick edges. Apply Stone with a 10-12mm roller or a quality mm brush. Do not roll too quickly or overspread with a brush as this will give you a patchy result. Use a mm brush to work in sections across the wall. Do not use a roller for the second coat. Apply the paint using a random criss cross action. Blend new and previous sections as you move along the wall.

Use it to inspire creativity in a kid s room or for menu ideas and family schedules in your kitchen. It is available in a range of stunning designer colours. Lightly moisten your brush or roller prior to painting your chalkboard area. Carefully cut in using a brush. Use a short nap synthetic roller (6-9mm) to paint the surface. Apply two coats allowing for at least 2 hours between coats. It is important to wait 48 hours prior to using the chalkboard. Conditioning it gently by rubbing chalk across the whole surface and then dusting off before use. 7 12 HOW TO APPLY SPOTS PAINTING STRIPES Painting spots is a fun way to dress up your walls. They are great for a kid s room in a variety of bright colours. Alternatively, for a more elegant effect use a combination of gloss levels or finishes (such as Pearl and Matt paint) in similar shades of colour. Black Pearl Paint 2 coats of your base colour on the wall. Allow it to dry for 24 hours before you paint on your spots. Create a stencil or object to paint your circles. You can use an object such as a plate to draw the circle shapes on your wall. Alternatively, use a piece of contact paper or a plastic sheet. This will allow you to use it as a stencil. Always ensure that its firmly stuck to the wall. Paint in your spots on the wall being very careful to keep within the shape. Paint 2 coats for maximum coverage. HOW TO APPLY STRIPES Stripes are a classic and elegant way to decorate your room. Horizontal stripes will make a room appear more spacious while vertical stripes will make your ceiling appear higher. Experiment with alternate gloss levels in a similar colour with your stripes (such as Pearl and Matt paint) or use contrasting colours such as black and white. PAINTING SPOTS Silk Veil Paint a base coat in your chosen lighter stripe colour. Ensure that the paint is allowed to dry for at least 24 hours before you begin painting your stripes. Carefully measure the width of your wall, stripes should be anywhere between 10-30cm in width. Mark the stripes out with a pencil. Then mask off your walls where your stripes need to be placed. Paint the masked off striped area in your chose colour. Make sure that you cover the entire area. Apply 2 coats for maximum coverage. Remove the tape once you have completed painting.

8 14 CRYSTAL CLEAR HOW TO APPLY CRYSTAL CLEAR Wattyl Interior Design Features & Effects Crystal Clear is a transparent, water-based acrylic glaze designed to withstand a tough household environment and create striking interior decorative finishes. Use the product as a topcoat in areas that need extra protection such as doors, furniture and feature walls. Use with Wattyl Interior Design Features & Effects Gold or Silver Paint Crystals for a stunning shimmer effect on kid s walls or feature areas. Paint your walls or objects with 2 coats of your chosen base coat colour. Let your paint dry for at least 24 hours. Add your chosen gold or silver Paint Crystals to your Crystal Clear. Stir through slowly and thoroughly with a flat stirrer (use 1-2 sachets per 4L of paint). Use your paint within 5 days, otherwise the crystals may lose their sparkle. Lightly moisten your brush or roller before application. Use a short nap (6-9mm) synthetic roller to apply 2 coats of the clear. Spread the glaze quickly to an even film working in small sections laying off lightly. The effects of the Crystal Clear will be visible once the paint has dried. Use Wattyl Aqua Prep Primer Sealer Undercoat for most surfaces. Choose your finish and colour and apply 2 coats of Wattyl Aqua Trim Gloss or Silky Satin. Always paint from the legs up. Alternatively, Crystal Clear may be applied over Wattyl Interior Design Low Sheen or Silky Satin for improved durability. This will protect your piece from marks and every day wear and tear.
