2 THE RHUE SERIES An exhibition of Photo painting by DOMINIQUE GAIS 26 Aug 31 Oct 2017 Dominique Gais is a French artist who spent time in Rhue in February. Her work is in response to the environment surrounding Rhue and the collaboration between her and Landscape painter James Hawkins. «I start my creative process with a photographic print of a natural detail that I have observed, this I extend to construct new imagined places. I use the various textures seen in landscapes ; such as geological traces left by water, wind and salt on rocks, and I play with the anthropomorphic elements of nature. As our ancestors from prehistory were using the roughness of the walls to emphasize the shoulder of a bison, I build on the natural elements that I have photographed to develop my compositions.»

After working in the studios of TV sets for two years, Dominique Gais, following training at IPEDEC, has worked as a professional Visual artist since 1986, and has conducted numerous murals for public places and individuals, while collaborating together on projects with other artists.
