Pennsylvania artist George William Sotter was part the New Hope School of American Impressionists. Born in Pittsburgh, Sotter first began painting his surroundings, including the rivers and buildings of his hometown. He first studied with New Hope School painter Edward W. Redfield, and then later with William Merritt Chase, Thomas Anshutz, and Henry G. Keller. He also attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Sotter set up a studio in his barn in Holicong, Pennsylvania, near Bucks County. He frequently painted dramatic landscapes filled with enormous clouds in which the skies transport the viewer into the scene, instantly conveying weather conditions and time of day. $30,000-50,

American Impressionist Robert Henry Logan was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, and as a young man, enrolled in Brown and Nichols School in Cambridge. Soon after, he studied with Frank Benson and Edmund Tarbell at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. After winning the school s top drawing prize in the early 1890s, Logan left to study in Paris at the Sorbonne and the Académie Julian. He painted while on trips to various European nations, including Spain, Germany, Morocco, England, Italy, and Belgium. In 1905, Logan received the Prix de Rome and exhibited at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Françaises in Paris. Logan eventually returned to Waltham where he continued to paint, in addition to teaching, woodworking, and ironworking. $900-1, Algerian Scene with Figures Unsigned.
