2 Size Standards HOW TO USE THE SIZE STANDARDS CHARTS The Size Standards charts are designed to be a quick reference to size standards, price charts and where to find further product specifications. Price charts are referenced by chart number next to the fabric style and further product specifications are referenced by page number under the application. Additional information that may be needed is bulleted at the end of the charts. Important: shade dimensions must be equal to or less than the maximum dimensions (width, height and area) and equal to or greater than the minimum dimensions (width and height) to be within specification guidelines. There are two types of Size Standards charts for Vignette Modern Roman Shades. In the width-based charts, such as the chart for Traditional Style shades on page VI-5, maximum shade height varies with shade width. Round the measured width up to the nearest width on the chart and then follow that column down to find the maximum height for the desired fabric style. In the application-based charts, such as the chart for Tiered Style and Traversed Style shades on pages VI-8 and VI-9, maximum width and height do not vary. Simply find the desired application across the top row and then follow that column down to the correct fabric row. Horizontal patterns on fabric-covered headrails may not run perfectly horizontal; slight bias may occur. Horizontal shades are bottom registered to achieve the exact ordered height. As a result, the bottom fabric fold (attached to the bottom rail) may be shorter or longer than the other folds. This is a normal and inherent characteristic of the product and is not considered a defect. Some maximum width single panel horizontal shades may have a seam in the fabric covering the headrail due to the raw material width. With all Vignette shades, you may see some creasing in the fabric folds. A light steaming generally eliminates these creases; do not steam the fabric-covered headrail, mid-rail or bottom rail. With lighter weight fabrics on Tiered and Traversed Styles, you may see slight bumps at the top of the shade below the headrail (Tiered Style) or within the shade (Tiered and Traversed Styles). This is due to the inner cord attachment necessary to operate the shade. Variations in color or pattern imperfections are unique characteristics and should be considered as normal, acceptable quality. For maximum room darkening, order outside-mounted shades with a 4" overlap on each side. With Traditional Style shades, sometimes when a shade is fully raised one fold may not be completely concealed inside the headrail, which causes an uncaptured fold. This product characteristic is a result of a shade s height and can vary from fabric to fabric. For outside-mounted Traversed Style shades, overall shade height will equal ordered shade height. Shade height is measured from the top of headrail to the bottom of shade. Be sure to allow for adequate floor clearance. For inside-mounted Traversed Style shades, a 1 /2" deduction for floor clearance will be taken from the ordered height. The directional pattern on Traversed Style shades runs opposite the directional pattern on horizontal Vignette shades; the pattern runs vertically on the headrail and horizontally on the fabric panel(s) and return(s). 32 Traditional Manual Operating Systems Design and Operation LITERISE OPERATION Shades roll up inside the standard profile headrail when raised. The cordless operating system offers ease of operation combined with enhanced child safety. Note: Narrower, longer drop shades will have more spring action than standard size shades. To Lower the Shade Gently pull down on the bottom rail handle. The shade will retract slightly to the desired height. To Raise the Shade Gently pull down on the handle to engage the shade. Using the handle, steadily raise the shade into the headrail or retract the shade to the desired position. LITERISE CAUTION: Releasing the shade without the handle control may cause the fabric panel to retract suddenly, allowing the bottom rail inside the headrail. Lower ULTRAGLIDE OPERATION To Lower the Shade Pull the cord toward the center of the shade using long, even strokes. Allow the cord to retract between strokes. Continue until the shade is fully lowered and rotated back toward the window. To Raise the Shade Using long, even strokes, pull the cord straight down or to the outside of the shade. Allow the cord to retract between strokes. ULTRAGLIDE CAUTION: To avoid damage to the shade or personal injury, do not let go of the cord until it is fully retracted. Non-Operable Zone Lower Raise TOP-DOWN/BOTTOM-UP Shades can be operated from the top-down or bottom-up with the EasyRise continuous cord loop or UltraGlide single retractable cord systems. Available only with 4" full fold. Lift cords are concealed between the front and rear fabrics for a clean exterior appearance. Fabric-covered headrail conceals fabric when fully raised. Fabric folds stack neatly at the bottom when lowered top-down, maintaining the full fold shape. One full fold remains above the fabric stack when fully lowered. EasyRise Top-Down/Bottom-Up Operation Pull on the front of the cord loop to lower the shade. When the shade is fully lowered, continuing to pull on the cord lowers the shade panel from the top-down. The fabric folds stack neatly at the bottom of the window when lowered from the top-down. To raise the shade, pull on the rear of the cord loop. If fully lowered top-down, the shade panel will first raise up to the headrail, and then the fabric will roll up to conceal itself inside the headrail. Raise First Pull Down Slightly Non-Operable Zone OR UltraGlide Top-Down/Bottom-Up Operation Basic operation is the same as bottom-up UltraGlide shades. Once the shade is completely lowered, continue to pull the cord toward the center to lower the mid-rail. Use long, even strokes and allow the cord to retract between strokes. EASYRISE OPERATION To Lower the Shade Pull on the front of the cord to lower and fully retract the shade. To Raise the Shade Pull on the rear of the cord to raise the shade. To raise the mid-rail, pull the cord straight down or to the outside of the shade. Once the mid-rail reaches the headrail, continue to pull the cord the same way to fully raise the shade. To Lower and Raise the Shade Use the handle to lower or raise the shade. An extension pole is available to operate hard-to-reach LiteRise shades. Allow the cord to retract after each downward stroke. Use multiple strokes until the shade reaches the desired position. ULTRAGLIDE CAUTION: To avoid damage to the shade or personal injury, do not let go of the cord until it is fully retracted. LiteRise Top-Down/ Bottom-Up Operation Handles are attached to both the bottom rail and the mid-rail. Use the handles to position the fabric as desired. LiteRise Top-Down/Bottom-Up Operation Lower and Raise Lower Pull cord toward center of shade at 45º angle, click and release. EASYRISE OPERATION To Lower and Raise the Shade Pull on the rear of the cord loop to lower the shade. Pull on the front of the cord loop to raise the shade. To stop the shade while lowering, move the cord back toward the vertical position and give a slight downward pull, until the locking mechanism engages. If a shade hits an obstruction as it is lowered it will stop. To Raise the Shade Pull the cord straight down or slightly toward the outside. With each stroke the shade partially raises. 35 Design and Operation SHADE ADJUSTABILITY Shades should wind evenly and not skew to one side. If skewing does occur: Ensure headrail was installed level; shim if necessary. Adjust placement of weight in bottom rail 1" at a time, toward side where fabric is gathering. With Top-Down/Bottom-Up shades, if the mid-rail is not level, you can adjust it by hand (Tiered stacking style) or use the self-leveling feature by rolling up the shade (Traditional rolling style) completely into the headrail. SIDE-BY-SIDE FOLD ALIGNMENT When horizontal shades are installed side by side, fold alignment can be guaranteed within 1 /4" only if: Shades are ordered at the same time and in the identical style, fabric, height, operating system and application. Shades that need to be aligned must be specified on the order form. Fold alignment cannot be guaranteed for different operating systems or applications combined on the same order. An Important Note About Textiles All Vignette fabrics consist of 100% polyester. Upon arrival and regular usage, shades may need to be dressed or steamed for best appearance. Slight creasing or wrinkles may appear in the fabric folds on all Vignette styles. A light steaming will generally eliminate the creases or wrinkles. Using a hand-held steamer four to six inches from the shade. For full fold styles, steam the face fabric from the bottom to the top, making sure to get steam under each fabric fold. For flat fold styles, steam across the fabric folds. Be careful not to saturate the fabric with steam. Allow the shade to dry completely before raising. Note: Do not steam the fabric on the headrail, mid-rail or bottom rail. For detailed steaming instructions, reference the Vignette Steaming video on YouTube or The Learning Center. As with all textiles, Vignette fabrics are subject to some variations in fabric weave. For example, the alignment of vertical stripe fabrics may not always match perfectly with the side edges or fabric-covered headrail of the finished shade. With all Vignette fabrics, the perpendicular orientation of the vertical and horizontal yarns may be slightly imperfect. These subtle variances fall within textile industry standards and should be considered as normal, acceptable quality. Consumer testing has indicated that these variations do not detract from the product s appeal. Variations in color or pattern irregularities are unique characteristics that contribute to the classic beauty of the product and should be considered as normal, acceptable quality. For lighter weight fabrics on Tiered and Traversed Style shades, you may see slight bumps within the shade. This is due to the inner cord attachment necessary to operate the shade. SHADE HEIGHT VARIANCE Shade height is adjusted at the bottom of the shade. The last fold may be longer or shorter than the others to achieve the ordered height. In shades of varying height, the length of the last fold may vary from shade to shade.
