Step 3 Hanging the Shade Step 4 Operating the Shade Hanging the Shade First, lower the middle and bottom rail about an inch. This will keep the fabric from getting caught between the brackets and the headrail. Position the headrail with the front lip (A) resting on the top hooks of all the brackets. Make sure that no fabric is pinched between the brackets and the headrail. Push the bottom of the headrail firmly upwards and toward the window until the groove at the bottom of the headrail snaps into place, (B) as shown. (A) Push up and toward the window (B) Operating the Shade To lower the shade, pull down on the handle(s) which are secured to the middle or bottom rail. To raise the shade, raise the middle rail, then raise the bottom rail at a moderate to slow steady speed. The shade will hold at any position when the middle or bottom handle is released. Use handle when raising and lowering shade for better support and smoother operation. Shades wider than 42" will automaticallly come with two handles. Removing the Shade To remove a shade, insert a screw-driver between the headrail and the bottom back of the bracket (tab which extends Insert screwdriver here and gently pry out slightly from each bracket). Gently pry the screwdriver to release the bracket from the headrail. Take care not to damage the painted finish of the headrail. As you release the brackets, support the headrail to keep it from falling. Lower the shade Raise the shade Hard to Reach Operation Expandable Pole For hard to reach Cordless shades use expandable pole to raise and lower shades. To Lower the shade, Insert the hook into the slot on the handle and pull gently. To Raise the shade simply center the poles end under the bottom rail. 7 smithandnoble.com
Leveling the Bottom Rail & Hold Down Bracket Troubleshooting Level the Bottom Rail Troubleshooting DualView Shades use a system that allows easy leveling of the bottom rail. It is designed to make slight adjustments (Less than 1") to level the moving rails ADJUSTMENT SCREWS Problem 1. Cordless Shade is unlevel when raised. Solution Cause: Vigorously running the shade up and down can temporarily cause rail to rest unlevel. of your shade. It is not designed to make length adjustments. Use a flat head screwdriver or a coin (a Repair: Pull the shade down to the full drop then raise at a moderate to slow pace to the top. quarter works best) to turn the adjustment screw in the bottom rail to raise or lower that side of the bottom rail. One quarter turn of the screw will move the bottom rail up or down approximately 1 4". Over-turning the adjustment screw (more than 1" of adjustment) can cause the cord to tangle or wedge inside the rail. The screw should turn easily - Do Not Force. 2. Shade will not stay down (Also see Leveling the Bottom Rail on pg 9) Cause: Because the shade was fabricated primarily in the closed position, the fabric may want to spring up. Repair: With clean hands, gently pull down on the section of shade to relax the pleats. Repeat with another section of pleats until the fabric is sufficiently relaxed. Do not tightly stack the shade for 24 hours. NOTE: If these suggestions don t work, then please give us a call or visit our website. Hold Down Bracket (optional) Optional Hold Down Brackets are mounted with the supplied screws. With the shade at its proper drop position, place the pin of each Hold Down bracket into the hole in each End Cap and make sure the pins are level and aligned. Mark the screw holes with a pencil. Raise the shade, then screw the Hold Down Bracket into the mounting surface. 9 smithandnoble.com

Push the bottom of the headrail firmly upwards and toward the window until the groove at the bottom of the headrail snaps into place, (B) as shown. (A) Push up and toward the window (B) Operating the Shade The Cord Tensioner MUST be installed to make the shade operational. Operate the shade by pulling down on either side of the continuous cord. The front of the cord raises the shade, the rear of the cord lowers the shade. Do not lift the bottom rail with your hands. Also, be careful not to place objects on the window sill that will interfere with operating the shade or cause it to hang unevenly. NOTE: Left hand cord raises the bottom, honeycomb section The right hand cord raises and lowers the middle rail, the sheer pleated section. 7 smithandnoble.com
Step 4 Removing the Shade Removing the Shade To remove the shade, insert a screwdriver between the headrail and the bottom back of the bracket (the tab which extends out slightly from each bracket). Insert screwdriver here and gently pry Gently pry the screwdriver to release the bracket from the headrail. Take care not to damage the painted finish of the headrail. As you release the brackets, support the headrail to keep It from falling
Optional Cord Tensioner Installation Your window shade has arrived with the cord tensioner positioned near the head rail to comply with current child safety standards. The cord tensioner must be mounted and secured before the window shade will operate correctly. OUTSIDE MOUNT The tension device reduces the hazards of strangulation and entanglement of young children by limiting access to the control cord. Please read the instructions included in the cord tensioner mounting hardware packet prior to installation. IMPORTANT Be sure to hold the cord tensioner firmly in place and check that the cord can move freely through it.
Optional ADJUSTMENT SCREWS Level the Bottom Rail DualView Shades use a system that allows easy leveling of the bottom rail. It is designed to make slight adjustments (Less than 1") to level the moving rails of your shade. It is not designed to make length adjustments. Use a flat head screwdriver or a coin (a quarter works best) to turn the adjustment screw in the bottom rail to raise or lower that side of the bottom rail. One quarter turn of the screw will move the bottom rail up or down approximately 1 4". Over-turning the adjustment screw (more than 1" of adjustment) can cause the cord to tangle or wedge inside the rail. The screw should turn easily - Do Not Force. Troubleshooting Problem 1. The shade will not stay down Solution The fabric may want to spring up because it was fabricated primarily in the closed position. With clean hands, gently pull down on a section of cells to relax the pleats. Repeat with another section of cells until the fabric is relaxed. Do not tightly stack the shade for 24 hours. 2. The pleats billow out when the shade is raised. Pleats may settle and stretch out when left in one position for extended periods of time. Raise the shade very slowly to allow the retraction mechanism to pull up the stretched fabric. Helpful Tip: Shades that are raised regularly will be less subject to pleat settling and will remain looking fresh and new. NOTE: If these suggestions don t work, then please give us a call or visit our website
Care & Cleaning /Safety Care & Cleaning Occasional light vacuuming with a soft bristle attachment or gentle feather dusting is all that is required to keep your shades looking fresh and neat. Safety is Everything Great style should never come at the cost of safety. Every Smith & Noble window treatment conforms strictly to today s safety standards, including permanent tie-down devices and builtin cord stops. To protect young children and pets, Loop Control works with a cord tensioner, which must be mounted to your window frame or wall. The shade or blind will not work if the cord tensioner is not mounted.
