1 4-H Fashion Show Department C, Division 410, 415 Superintendents B Cathy Kloch and Cristina Kloch General Rules A. Each entry must have 4@ x 6@ double spaced, typed (12 point font) narration beginning with the project, class number and 4-H members full name and age group on the top line. This card is due at the Extension Office with Fair Registrations. If your project is not complete enough at fair entry time to write your narrative please submit a card with the information pre-printed on the card which will allow the superintendents to schedule your place in the fashion show. When your card is complete you can exchange it. A template is available as a link in the fairbook. B. Number of projects 4-H members may model: BEYOND THE NEEDLE (formerly Decorate Your Duds) one garment. Clothing 1-SEWING FUNDAMENTALS (formerly Sewing For Fun & Clothing 1) two garments. Clothing 2-SIMPLY SEWING (formerly clothing 2) two garments. Clothing 3-A STITCH FURTHER (formerly Sewing for You & Tailoring) three garments. FIBER ARTS KNITTING AND CROCHETING one garment SHOPPING IN STYLE Purchased Outfit and Written Report SF184 one outfit. NOTE..When entering classes where you can model more than one garment, use the same class number for each project. Example.Clothing 1 2 garments if you are modeling 2 garments, put the number down twice. Example.Clothing 3 3 garments if you are modeling 3 garments, put the number down 3 times. A top stylist from each of the project areas will be chosen with a Champion Model and a Reserve Champion Model being named from the Senior age group and Junior Model being named from the Junior age group. C. Each contestant should choose or make accessories to complete the outfit modeled. D. All garments modeled must be entered for construction judging. Upon completion of modeling, remove the garment, place on hanger, and enter with other constructed garments for judging. E. To receive premium money, 4-Hers are required to model in the Public Modeling. Modeling garments may be checked out of the 4-H Exhibit Building between 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., with the participants ready to model by 7:00 p.m. Garments must be returned to the exhibit building immediately after the modeling. If a 4-Her cannot participate in the public modeling, the Extension Educator or the 4-H Coordinator should be notified prior to the Revue. It will be left to the discretion of the 4-H Council if the 4-Her will receive their premium. F. All garments must remain on display during the county fair. G. The following projects qualify for State Fair modeling: BEYOND THE NEEDLE (Decorate Your Duds) - STEAM Clothing 2- SIMPLY SEWING - STEAM Clothing 3-A STITCH FURTHER - Knitted or Crocheted Clothing - SHOPPING IN STYLE PURCHASED OUTFIT and WRITTEN REPORT SF-184 H. Upcycled Garments are not eligible for State Fair I. 4-H members must be age 10 or older as of January 1 of current year to be selected. 1
2 Division C410, FASHION SHOW CLASSES BEYOND THE NEEDLE (formerly Decorate Your Duds) Modeling Projects that can be modeled: (can model one garment) *Embellished Garment With An Original Design: Garment is created using intermediate or advanced techniques as defined in the project manual. Designs are the original idea of 4-H member using the elements and principles of design to make an original statement. *Garment Constructed from Original Designed Fabric. Fabric yardage is designed first, then a garment is constructed from that fabric. Other embellishments may be added. *Textile Arts Garment: Garment is constructed using new unconventional materials. Examples: rubber bands, plastic, duct tape. Embellished Garment (scoresheet SF27 Not eligible for State Fair) - any surface embellishment that is applied to a purchased or constructed garment such as ribbon, lace, embroidery, applique, braid, buttons or fabric pieces. May use patterns or ideas from magazines. Commercial Iron-on appliques or any prepackaged item where the materials are predetermined by the manufacturer will not be accepted. C SENIOR DIVISON: (age 12 and up as of January 1 of the current year) C JUNIOR DIVISON: (age 11 and under as of January 1 of the current year) Note Juniors (8-11) Only 4-H exhibitors 10 years and older, as of January 1 of current year are eligible for State Fair. C Juniors (Ages 8-11) Any wearable garment made in the Beginning Unit C Seniors (Ages 12-19) Any wearable garment made in the Beginning Unit C Other item to be modeled C410050* Knitted garment using pattern stitches such as diamond, block, twist or seed/moss stitches or advanced knitting stitches such as pass slip stitch over, double-pointed needle knitting, cable, Turkish, tamerna, plait, germaine, feather and fan or knitting with one or more patterns such as Aran or Fair Isle Crocheted garment using pattern stitches such as texture, shell, cluster or mesh stitches or advance crochet stitches such as afghan, broomstick, hairpin lace, design motifs or pattern stitches. Attention Shoppers Modeling (can model one outfit) This curriculum is developed and designed for youth (ages 8-9). Not eligible for State Fair C County only Modeling Option. Exhibitors who have entered Class Best Buy for your Buck in Consumer Management Clothing may model their garment. Narration Card must be turned in by fair registration deadline. Shopping in Style Purchased Outfit and Written Report SF184 Modeling This curriculum is developed and designed for youth age 10 and older. Participants must exhibit a Shopping In Style Consumer Management project Best Buy For Your Buck to be eligible to model. The curriculum is developed and designed for youth ages 10 and older to help them strengthen their consumer skills when purchasing clothing. Participants must model a complete outfit. All pieces of the garment must be purchased. A portion of your score is based on the Form SF184. It must be turned in with your narration card when fair registrations are due. Your score will not be complete without this form. It is part of your project. Form SF184 is linked in the clothing section of the fair book. Judges will select a top model (10 years or older) to represent Box Butte County at the State Fair Shopping In Style Fashion Show. 4
