1 158 DEPARTMENT 23 4-H FAMILY LIVING PROJECTS Chairperson: Regina Pilewski, 9901 Old Route 99, Vice Chairman: Stephanie Wilhelm, Tryonville Rd., Centerville, PA 16404; Diana Householder, State Hwy. 86, Saegertown, PA To be eligible for premiums, exhibitors must be a member of an organized Crawford County 4-H Club and in good standing. All 4-H exhibitors must have completed the project since the last County Fair. A member must complete a project book per class they plan to enter unless otherwise noted. All classes listed by age are the member s age as of January 1 of the current year. A 4-H member may enter one item per class. All posters must be 14 X 22. All others will be disqualified. Each display type exhibit shall be similar in size, unless otherwise stated in the project book. All others will be displayed on a space available basis only. Posters will be judged on the basis of visual impact, creativity, neatness, accuracy and appropriateness of information. Entries will be received on Friday, August 18, 2017, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Saturday August 19, 2017, from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. All entries must be in place by 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2017 as the helpers must prepare for the Saturday afternoon judging. The building will be closed for judging Saturday afternoon. All entries must be removed between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM on Sunday, August 27, Doors will be closed at 2:30 PM. Crawford County Fair and Crawford County 4-H is not responsible for items/ribbons/premiums that are not picked up. SECTION 1 4-H TEXTILE SCIENCE Premiums will be awarded to the first 3 places in each class listed. 10 ANNUAL CRAWFORD COUNTY OUTSTANDING FAMILY LIVING 4-LEAF 4-H ER AWARD Grow It, Sew It, Make It, Do It Begun in 1995 the year of the 50th Anniversary of the Crawford County Fair. The Purpose to honor excellence as well as diversity among Crawford County 4-H ers with Family Living projects. Rules: 1. Applicant must be an active member of a recognized Crawford County 4-H Club H members are ineligible to win two consecutive years. 3. You must fill out an award application that accompanies your entries. a. You may choose up to three 4-H projects per category. b. You may enter other items at the Fair, but only the 12 you list on the application will be in the 4-Leaf competition. 4. You must enter at least one 4-H project that fits into each of the following catagories; a. Grow It: Department 20 Plant Science b. Sew It: Department 23 Family Living Section 1 c. Make It: Department 21 Food and Nutrition d. Do It: Department 22 Nature and Science, Department 23 Family Living Sections 2, 3, and In case of a tie, the entrant with the most blue ribbons in all categories will win. 6. Winner will decided by this point system: Blue 3, Red 2, White 1, Rosette 1 Bonus Point 7. Second and third place winners will be recognized with a ribbon. The Crawford County Outstanding Family Living 4-Leaf 4-H er will be awarded a plaque donated by a Freind of 4-H and their projects will be displayed at the Crawford County Fair. A $30 cash prize will be awarded to the winner by the Crawford County Fair Open Class Family Living Departments. 11 2017 FUN SAFETY ON THE FAIRGROUNDS POSTER CONTEST Chairperson: Wanda Braymer Participants must be from ages 8-18, and live in Pennsylvania. The poster s 2017 theme is Know Your Farmer Premiums: $5.00 $4.00 $3.00 Honorable Mention CRITERIA for State Contest: 1. There will be three competitions: ages 8-11, and Youth must be in one of these age groups as of June 1, 2017 to qualify. Only one poster may be submitted per student. 2. The poster size must be 14 x 22 inches or 14 ½ x 22 inches, equivalent to one half of a standard poster board. Other sizes will not be accepted. 3. The theme is Know Your Farmer. 4. Posters will be evaluated on use of the theme, visual appearance and creativity in relation to the exhibitor s age. To enter the County Contest - Posters will be received in the 4-H Plant Science section of Exhibit 1 Building, either Friday, 3:00 8:00 pm or Saturday, 8:30 10:30 am. On the back, add your name, address, phone number and AGE as of June 1st. The poster and entry form will be given to the Fair Fund Administrator at the Fall Zone meeting. Posters sent to the state level become the property of the PA Department of Agriculture. Fair Fund Administrator will take winning posters to Harrisburg for the PA State Farm Show competition in January, 2018, where you could win $50, $75 or even $
