3 Chic, Sharp, and Unusual NOT... the same old thing stuck in a bright color scheme lots of fluff and frivolity YES... A Composition of Shape and Simplicity This defines the Loes Hinse s design and philosophy. Welcome to her world! People forget their head! Over and over, Loes sees customers enter her store wearing a confusing combination of garments. All you see is what the person is wearing. Entering the dressing room to try on some of her clothes, they emerge a different looking person. You see the person...not the clothing. Their head was obscured by all the clothing worn. That s what shape and simplicity are all about! Garments with classic lines and neutral colors form the background. Add a different top and accessories. Same garment looks completely different. 3

4 In this edition of The Look, you will find many old fabrics and patterns to enhance your wardrobe and add to your collection of timeless fashion. Moving into a warmer season, you might think the fabrics say, Winter! Most are great for transitioning into spring. In fact, many can be used year round. We have made some deals for you some fabric sale priced and some in remnants. We have lumped it all together in groups to make it easy for you to make some great choices. And if you don t want to use the fabric right away, you know they will work in the future! And of course, Loes is always creating. You will find some easy tweaks as we call them which change an existing pattern into a new look. Please note: You must have the original pattern to incorporate the Tweaks.4 Hoping the new year is off to a good start for you and yours. Confused about the amounts on your Casual Elegance Order Form? It is confusing. But as they say, It is the way it is. We ll blame our host company! On Sales Receipts listed under Quantity, a different amount appears from what was ordered. And the Price is different. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT?? For figuring shipping costs, fabric is broken down into 1/8 yard increments. Each 1/8 yard is weighed and assigned a weight. Items, such as patterns, are weighed per item. The website then figures how many 1/8 s there are in the yardage ordered. That is the number under Quantity on the Sales Receipt. As an example, if the Quantity is 16, that means there are 16 1/8 yards in the order or 2 yards. The Price per yard is also divided into eighths. Multiply the Price by 8, and you will have the price of the fabric ordered. Shipping on Remnants is figured per remnant. 4

Black Microfiber, SKU 0516 Black Microfiber with Lycra, SKU (more on order maybe a delay) All of the above make great travel pants (skirts.) Add a black jacket. No. But enlarge your face skin tone to include the neck. Combining face with neck becomes a larger color block. Black becomes a definition rather than just a color. This idea can also includes choice of necklines. A lower cut V neck will expose more skin making the skin tone more of a statement. This also gives you more area to introduce a becoming color as an accessory. Loes go-to garments: Black pant with a black long sleeve Bianca. She opts for a more open neckline as this affords a larger skin color block. Over that, she wears an off-white jacket with 3/4 sleeves making another color division. Black becomes a definition, not just a color. The skin tone plays a predominant role. These garments worn together make a statement! Are you seeing black or the red scarf? * You will need the Tuscan Shirt Pattern, Loes Hinse Design. * Follow fabric requirements and general instruction on pattern except for changes below. 1. Use longer version on pattern.

10 HOW TO GET A NEW LOOK FOR THE TUSCAN BLOUSE Those of you who recently attended a Carmel Seminar had the opportunity to copy a new, unpublished pattern for this new blouse. Due to several people asking about the new pattern, Loes made this tweak available (similar to new pattern) using the original Tuscan Blouse with the following changes. * You will need the Tuscan Shirt Pattern, Loes Hinse Design. * Follow fabric requirements and general instruction on pattern except for changes below. 1. Use longer version on pattern. Add 1 length at bottom. 2. Drop front neckline 1 1/2. 3. Use a 3 hem at bottom. Adjust cut lines to accommodate hem. This allows the hem allowance to lay flat. Finished hem 3 4. Instead of buttons and buttonholes, stitch front using photos below as a guide. Neckline can be higher or lower according to your preference. A basic cardigan pattern is best the Garbo, the Sweater Set cardigan (made a tad larger), or the tweaked Biarritz (no neckline insert).

It is an extra step but well worth it. Loes suggests using the selvage edges at center front. This eliminates bulk when fabric is folded under for front facing.

17 Was Leftover Seminar fabric. now priced at $14 yard Black/Blue/Gray Chunky Rib Knit formerly in Seminar Leftover Fabrics There is not a lot left. But there is enough for you! Hurry to get it. This vertical knitted fabric is black, gray, and a hint of denim blue. It is very stretchy, but a little stabilizing will take care of that. A basic cardigan pattern is best the Garbo, the Sweater Set cardigan (made a tad larger), or the tweaked Biarritz (no neckline insert). Cut the pattern allowing for larger seam allowances. Use your preferred method to stabilize around ALL cut edges before sewing jacket together. It is an extra step but well worth it. Loes suggests using the selvage edges at center front. This eliminates bulk when fabric is folded under for front facing. This is a beautiful jacket. Wear with black, gray, jeans, or the Black/Tan Wool Blend Tweed. Blends with knit jacket beautifully. This is one of those jackets you will grab frequently. Will be perfect transitioning into warmer weather. Wear with the Wool Blend Tweed, Black, Navy, Denim, and Gray. 17
