4 Hoffman Skylines Finished Size: 54 x 43 Assembling the Quilt Center Remove the selvages from the panel and square it up to 30 x 43 ¼. Making the Blocks Color 1 is the center. Sew the 1 ¼ x 1 ¼ Color 2 pieces to the top and bottom of the center square. Sew the 1 ¼ x 2 ¾ Color 2 pieces to the sides of the above unit. Sew the 1 ¼ x 2 ¾ Color 3 pieces to the top and bottom of the above unit. Sew the 1 ¼ x 4 ¼ Color 3 pieces to the sides of the above unit. Make (8) 4 ¼ blocks. (1) Med Blue Lt Green - Med Blue (1) Burst Multi - Purple Burst Multi (1) Med Blue - Lt Green - Lt Blue (1) Diamond Multi Med Green Light Green (1) Magenta - Orange Magenta (1) Purple - Blue - Purple (1) Orange Dk Blue Diamond Multi (1) Purple - Magenta Purple Building the Strata Refer to the diagram (at the end of the pattern) to cut and assemble the strata. Strata are NOT drawn to scale, but all dimensions are given. Begin by assembling all the strata into groups (either 21 or 24 long). Groups can be as few as 1 strata and as many as 5. NOTE: All of the groups that contain blocks are made from 21 long strata that is divided to accommodate the block. The strata is NOT 21 on one side with additional length on the other side as it may as it may be interpreted from the diagram. Add the blocks to each group of strata. o To insert a block you may need to add an additional piece of fabric to the block. This 1 x 4 ¼ information is reflected in the diagram on the next page. Add a 1 x 4 ¼ strip to the to bottom bottom of the block. This strip should be the same color as the bottom strata (if the additional fabric is added to the top, the color should match the top strata). 4 from left o Where to insert the block is also in the diagram. Cut the strata 4 from the left and reassemble with the block sewn in-between the two pieces of strata. Trim the block/strata groups to 24. Sew all of the strata groups together to form a single unit with a finished size of 24 x Assembling the Quilt Center Sew the strata unit to the right side of the quilt panel. Press to the panel. Completing the Quilt: Layer and quilt as desired. Sew the 2 ¼ strips into one long length, and use to bind the quilt.
