1 GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TARS AND TRADE RESTRCTED COM.TEX/SB/208 3 March 1977 Special Distribution Textiles Surveillance Body Original: English ARRANGEMENT REGARDNG NTERNATONAL TRADE N TEXTLES Notification under Article 2 EEC/Japan Phase-Out Programme The TSB has received from the European Economic Community a notification of a programme for the elimination of pre-ma restrictions applied to imports of certain textile products from Japan. The TSB heard statements by representatives of the EEC and Japan to the effect that this phase-out programme had been bilaterally agreed. The programme is therefore circulated to the Textiles Committee for the information of participating countries.

2 COM.TEX/SB/208 Page 2 Please find herewith copies of the Community's programme for the elimination of existing quantitative restrictions vis-à-vis Japan. The tables containing the various elements of the Community's programme are largely self-explanatory. Nevertheless, it should be stressed that, with the exception of those products for which restraint has been agreed upon in the context of the bilateral agreement signed on 9 July 1976 and already notified to the TSB, in no case will quantitative restrictions on other products be maintained after 31 March 1977.
