2 SCORPION STINGER WIRING Red +12Vdc Black Ground Orange Warning Mode 1 Blue Warning Mode 2 Orange & Blue Warning Mode 3 Red/White Left Arrow Brown/White Right Arrow Red/White & Brown/White Center Out Brown N/A Green Intensity Control PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS Entering Programming Mode: To activate the L-Stick programming mode, connect the BLACK Wire to ground then simultaneously attach the GREEN wire and the RED wire to +12 Vdc. Changing Warning Patterns and Flash Rates: Three unique warning patterns can be selected using the ORANGE and BLUE mode selection wires. See example below: ORANGE WIRE = Warning Mode 1 BLUE WIRE = Warning Mode 2 ORANGE & BLUE WIRE = Warning Mode 3 To change the warning mode, attach the wire(s) corresponding to the mode to be changed to +12Vdc. Tap the Red/WHITE wire to +12Vdc to advance the flash pattern. See the list of available flash patterns below. A unique flash rate can be assigned to each warning mode. To change the flash rates enter the programming mode as described above. Move the green wire from +12Vdc to Ground. Tap the BROWN/WHITE wire to +12Vdc to advance the flash rate. See the list of available flash rates below. Changing Traffic Direction Patterns and Flash Rates: To change the Traffic Direction pattern, activate the L-Stick programming mode by connecting the BLACK Wire to ground then simultaneously attach the GREEN wire, RED/WHITE wire and the RED wire to +12 Vdc. Tap the BROWN wire to +12Vdc to advance the flash pattern. See the list of available Traffic Direction patterns below. 2

3 A unique flash rate can be assigned to the Traffic Direction mode. To change the flash rates enter the programming mode as described above. Move the green wire from +12Vdc to Ground. Tap the BROWN wire to +12Vdc to advance the flash rate. See the list of available flash rates below. 4 Chevy Tahoe Installation Instructions TOOLS NEEDED 10 MM Nut Driver or Socket T25 Torx Hand Driver Hand Drill or Cordless Drill Phillips head screwdriver Measuring Tape or Ruler Grease Pencil Step Drill Bit 1/4 inch drill bit 3/32 inch drill bit Silicone or RTV Sealant Wafer head stinger screws 1/2 inch wire loom small tie wraps INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Remove the rear wing (spoiler) from the vehicle. 3 T25 Torx hold the wing to the glass, and 2 10MM nuts hold the wing to the hinges. (Fig 1) Unplug the 3rd brake light from the spoiler and remove the spoiler from the vehicle. Place the spoiler on a flat clean surface to install the Stinger. (Fig 1) (Fig 1a) 4

5 Drill a 5/8 inch size hole on each side of the spoiler using the step bit as shown in figure 2. (Fig 2) (Fig 2a) Drill a 5/8 inch hole using the step bit in each side of the center mounting plastic for the flasher module wire leads as shown in Fig 3. (Fig 3) (Fig 3) Locate the round indented area as shown in Fig 4 and drill a 5/8 hole for the flasher control cable. Mount the flasher as shown in Fig 5 using the supplied dual sided tape and/or provided screws. Drill 3/32 pilot holes for the screws. (Fig 4) (Fig 5) 5

6 Route the flasher control cable through the spoiler housing as shown in Fig 6, Fig 7 and Fig 8. (Fig 6) (Fig 7) (Fig 8) Separate module wire leads 01, 02 and 03 and route them through the center plastic as shown in Fig 9 and Fig 10. (Fig 3) (Fig 3) 6

7 Place the Stinger housing onto the spoiler and align the mounting holes as shown in Fig 11. Using a grease pencil, mark through the top of each side of the housing the hole locations to be drilled. Drill 5/8 inch holes where you have marked as shown in Fig 12 for both sides. (Fig 11) (Fig 12) Feed each module wire lead through the spoiler for each side as shown in Fig 13. We recommend using a tie wrap to make it easier to pull the wires through, as shown in Fig 14. (Fig 13) (Fig 14) After you have routed all of the module wire leads through the spoiler, carefully align the Stinger to the spoiler and route the module leads through the top of each side of the housing as shown in Fig 15. We recommend wire loom on the bundle of leads to keep the wires neat and make it easier to route the wires as shown in Fig 16. (Fig 15) (Fig 16) 7

8 Once the module leads have been routed into each side, align the Stinger to the spoiler by lining up the glass mounting hole locations to the Stinger housing as shown in Fig 17. (Fig 17) To make the spoiler and Stinger easier to handle at this point, we drill 4, 1/4 inch pilot holes spaced evenly across the bottom edge of the Stinger housing, and mount the Stinger to the spoiler with 4 stinger style 1/2 inch wafer head screws, as shown in Fig 18. (Fig 18) Once the Stinger is attached to the spoiler, flip it over as shown in Fig 19 to begin installing the LED modules using the hardware provided. (Fig 19) 8

9 Align the LED modules in the proper numerical order from left to right to insure the correct flash sequence for the Traffic Director function and connect the modules to their appropriate leads. Using the supplied Edge Clips and bolts,mount the LED modules into the Stinger housing with the supplied Allen Wrench. The wide Edge Clips hold the end modules down, and the narrow Edge Clips pair each end module to the center module. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! See Fig 20 and 21. (Fig 20) (Fig 21) You are now ready to re-install your Stinger spoiler onto the rear glass. Mark a location as shown in Fig 22 and carefully drill a hole using the step bit only large enough to accommodate the flasher control harness as shown in Fig 23. (Fig 22) (Fig 23) 9

10 Carefully remove the upper rear interior trim panel by gently prying and pulling it down with your hands. Lay the spoiler upside down on the roof and carefully route the flasher control harness through the drilled hole and into the vehicle, as shown in Fig 24, Fig 25 and Fig 26. (Fig 24) (Fig 25) (Fig 26) Once the flasher control harness is routed into the vehicle, flip the spoiler onto the rear glass, reconnect the third brake light, and line up the mounting holes on the glass and hinges, as shown in Fig 27 and 28. Feed any remaining slack from the flasher control harness through the hole and into the vehicle. (Fig 27) (Fig 28) 10

11 Clip the flasher control harness onto the spoiler along with the third brake light wire as shown in Fig 29 and tie wrap them together. Seal the flasher control harness to the vehicle with silicone or RTV sealant. Re-install the spoiler with the 3 25 TORX bolts and 2 10MM nuts, being careful not to over tighten the TORX bolts. See Fig 30. (Fig 29) (Fig 30) Congratulations! You have installed your 970 Stinger! Continue routing the flasher control cable through the vehicle and to your supplied switching. Follow the wiring and programming instructions, and test all functions. 11
