PASKAL 3D SENSATIONAL EYE EXAMINATION K I D S & T E E N S
PASKAL 3D KIDS&TEENS Water balls, funny sand figures and sweet ducklings... all help to make the test of visual acuity an interesting experience for small children. IPRO-Project manager Stefanie Woehrle has a lot of experience with child optometry, she is responsible for PASKAL 3D and MyEyeTrainer. She has tackled a topic that will significantly advance PASKAL 3D: the special use of sight test for determining visual acuity in children from the age of six. For Behavioural Optometrists children with vision problems are in the centre of attention, explains Stefanie Woehrle. Undoubtedly, children have special individual needs and I have always been concerned with the topic. In order to attract a child s attention, the tests should include child-friendly motives; on the other hand, the optotypes should be relatively clear and simple in order to facilitate easy communication. This is the reason why optotypes are made visible in single rows. The PASKAL 3D Kids&Teens module uses Hazel Kay s special children s symbols. They are lovingly designed and are very suitable for communicating with children who do not know numbers yet. In addition, letters, numbers and landolt rings can be used. In the children s module, well-known colourful PASKAL 3D backgrounds with mountains or beaches are exchanged for images that are more suitable for children. The motives for the determination of the dominant eye remain; a dog can be seen in one, in the other a cat. Of course, that s what the kids like; in addition to the eye test they like the 2D and the 3D images. For phoria determination, the tests were broken down in to more detail. For example, in the angle-cross test according to Grolman, the PASKAL 3D children s module shows firstly the vertical lines and then the horizontal lines. In the Grolmann-cross test we ask when the vertical lines are on top of each other; in the next step we look at the horizontal lines separately and ask when they are at the same level. If you do not show the complete cross then communication is much easier, says Stefanie Woehrle. For the binocular fine-tuning, the PASKAL team came up with a typical everyday situation for children. A classroom is presented in 3D and different distances to the board are simulated. The improvements in the visibility of the blackboard, using glasses in this test, can be explained to the children.
KIDS&TEENS A VIEWING EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR LITTLE CUSTOMERS The module for Kids & Teens series includes new tests that are needed above all in functional optometry. For the retinoscopy or the cover test, a fixation on an object is necessary. It is simply amusing to observe our funny squirrel! The children s attention is captivated by the changing poses. Two further tests are available to support graphical analysis in which the optotypes are displayed in a vertical or horizontal line. We wish you and your little customer lots of fun with the new Kids&Teens tests. You can order the Kids&Teens module from your IPRO consultant. Contact details can be found on the IPRO homepage: IPRO EXPERTE Stefanie Wöhrle, the master optician has additional training as a non-medical practitioner. She has been working on Behavioural Optometry for many years. To date, she carries out visual analysis in her practice on two afternoons per week and organizes visual training for her clients. Her commitment as a project manager at IPRO is positively complimented by her on-going experience: She is a woman who brings practical experience.
GUIDED REFRACTION TESTING WITH THE STANDARD TEST SERIES The PASKAL 3D experiential refraction system offers a standard series of eight tests, each of which follows on from the previous one so that normally all requirements are met. In addition to values for a comfortable adjustment, the optician also gets information from about the patient s binocular and phorimetric status, stereopsis and dominance. All this is achieved against a 3-D background that turns the eye test into an agreeable experience for the customer. If required, other tests can be added. T U M F R A
3D Background Kids&Teens New background, suitable for children, so that the little ones have more fun during refraction. Beach ball-test Kids&Teens (Screening for stereopsis) At the beach, with beach balls... Dominance test Kids&Teens (Screening for stereopsis) Of course, the dominant eye is also of interest to children, so the proven cat/dog test is also part of this series. Optotype Series Presentation Kids&Teens The sequence of the tests is identical to the standard series, with the exception of single line view as standard, to ease communication with the children. Children optotypes are also included in the module! PASKAL Test Individual Series The PASKAL Test (monocular refraction under binocular stereoscopic conditions) also for children in a single series. Simplified test according Grolman (horizontal) The Grolman cross has also been simplified. It is now possible to check the horizontal phoria separately. This also helps to ease the communication with the children.
Simplified test according to Grolman (vertical) The Grolman cross has also been simplified. It is now possible to check the vertical phoria separately. This also helps to ease the communication with the children. Differentiated stereo test D6 Test for determining the critical stereo angle. the parallax is logarithmically graduated from 5 to.5, randomizable and can be displayed from the front/back using the Invert button. Optotypes, line-by-line (vertical) This test is specially designed for the functional optometry and the graphical analysis. The separation of the visual impressions is done with prisms. This test is meant to check the horizontal phoria. Optotypes, line-by-line (horizontal) This test is specially designed for the functional optometry and the graphical analysis. The separation of the visual impressions is done with prisms. This test is meant to check the vertical phoria. 2D Fixations Stimulus The squirrel serves as a fixation stimulus. The images change automatically. This test can be used for retinoscopy and/or at the distance cover test. Classroom The classroom is the new final test for children and youths. This test is meant to simulate the new vision situation in the classroom.
