Digital Design Direct Surface - Backside (customized)based on Rx, lens material, frame and fit data) SFSV Blank with Spherical Front (Base) Curve Rx Power and Progressive Add Design Digitally Surfaced on Back Surface aka direct to surface, freeform or computer numeric controlled (CNC) or Freeform Digital Design Direct Surface - Backside (customized)based on Rx, lens material, frame and fit data) Precision of the process: 0.01 diopter. (10 times more precise) 3 axis diamond cutting tool creates complex aspheric and atoric surfaces that traditional wheel generators cannot achieve. For greater precision and fewer aberrations. At VISION EASE we manufacture the semi finished single vision lens blanks used with digital free form design. Our manufacturing standards are the highest. Our SFSV blanks adhere to very tight optical standards as it relates to front curve; which result in a better finished product 3

Usable Area Location of insets and power coincide with natural head and eye movement Power placed where we use it Binocularity See better near and intermediate WIDER NARROWER variable Inset better binocular vision wider more useable intermediate and near zones Functionality Lens optics prioritized in the area encompassed by typical eye rotation Central fovea - visual angle of around 10 Majority eye movement within 15 Remaining eye movement within 30 4

Slow introduction of astigmatism o wider more useable corridor Softness of a progressive lens design is measured by the slope or rate of change of astigmatic power away from the visual corridor of the lens Smoothness a gradual slope or rate of change in power as the eyes move through the lens corridor. Controlled power gain o Eliminate image jump The valuable feedback from wearer trials results in design improvements for optimizing versatility and comfort 5

Digital offerings by Vision Ease SPORTWRAP FEATURES Exceptionally soft design for immediate comfort and natural feel Backside progressive design for wide, clear viewing zones Digital precision for crisp vision and super-smooth power transitions Variable inset for optimal alignment of the progressive corridor Easy to fit no special tools or training required Digital offerings by Vision Ease SPORTWRAP o All the features of the Everywhere design, PLUS o Advanced POW customization for wearers who want or need it 6

3/31/2016 SPORTWRAP FEATURES Advanced position of wear customization Vertex distance Pantoscopic tilt Wrap angle These POW measurements are used by the lens design software technology to further refine the optimization of the lens surface creating a personalized lens design specific to the wearer. optimized SINGLE Digitally Optimized for each Rx as worn VISION and PAL designed to Accommodates high-base accommodate the active, wraps frames without outdoor lifestyle.acuity compromising 7

. Loss of visual acuity due to oblique aberrations Digital optimization eliminates oblique aberrations Two basic optimizations: Astigmatism optimization Power optimization 8

Free Form Lens Design System Design on the fly Freeform Lens Optimization Match the optics of each design exactly to the visual requirements of the wearer. A. well-designed progressive lens will reduce unwanted astigmatism and its associated effects to its mathematical limits. Important improvement to the optical quality of standard lenses Standard Measurements Power: Prescription and Addition Compensated Design = Compensated Rx Personal Parameters Power: Prescription and Addition Compensated design = Compensated Power = Compensated Rx for verification If power of lens is compensated; then lensometer readings won t be the same as the prescription. correct Add power in compensated lens reads smaller in a lensometer!!! 9

The main digital advantage Less distortion in the periphery for wider fields of view comfortable view near and intermediate no swim effect for easy adaptation power placed to coincide with natural head and eye movements for comfort Digital technology is a wonderful advancement in lens design and fabrication but even digital progressives have limits! Computer Use As the corridor length becomes shorter, the unwanted astigmatism grows more rapidly away from the umbilic. Lenses with shorter corridor lengths or higher Add powers will provide less intermediate vision and mid-range utility. What cannot be done by advanced ophthalmic design and FF technology Progressive lenses that violate Minkwitz s theorem (PALs with wider corridors for the same corridor length.) Lenses without aberrations PALs without adaptation period. Short PALs with intermediate wide enough for computer displays. 10

What can be done by advanced ophthalmic design and FF technology Optimize the lens for the power that the user perceives Optimize the lens for any position of use (tilts, distance to the eye, etc ) Optimize the lens for any base curve (the spherical base curves used with FF lenses) Optimize the lens for each prescription Better control of lens thickness Off-centering without losing optical quality Important improvement to the optical quality of standard lenses Precision starts with you millimeters count! Position of wear measurements: What are they? Why do we measure them? 11

Standard POW for Digital PAL s Frame Dimensions ( A, B and DBL) Monocular PD Monocular Height PAL measurements Ocular Center = Center Pupil + DBL + Centration errors reduce binocular vision the ability to fuse images from both eyes into one image. The wearer experiences this as a reduction in clear fields of vision in both near and intermediate zones. Centration errors reduce binocular vision; the ability to fuse images from both eyes into one image. The wearer experiences this as a reduction in clear fields of vision in both near and intermediate zones. Frame eyewire geometric center Fitting Height. 12

Note the different heights and need for monocular fitting heights.. Parallax Error. Height measurements must be taken with you positioned directly across from the patient and at EYE LEVEL to avoid Patient looking straight ahead Close one eye and have them look at your open eye Their 1 person left eye to person to your height right and difference vice a versus will equal a Dot each demo 1.2 mm lens fitting at the height center difference of the pupil Have them look away and back to double check. Avoid Parallax Error Confirm Cutout and Full Reading Before the patient leaves! 13

Pantoscopic Tilt Advanced POW Back Vertex Distance Frame Wrap Angle Angles and distance can produce power error, unwanted astigmatism and even induce prism. Pantoscopic Tilt Angle Frame tilt changes the position of the lens OC relative to the patients line of sight. The OC of the lens is dropped 1 mm for every 2 degrees of tilt to maintain the line of sight of the eye with the lens optical axis Back Vertex Distance Back of the lens to front of the eye 14
