19 Integration of data Off-line data integration Through combining files of different systems is not always easy. Common issues are: - Timing can be off - File formats have to be compatible - Cost a lot of time Live data integration Through Noldus Communication Framework (NCF): - Allows for live(real-time) exchange of data between systems. - Is used in a couple of projects like ADVICE and FOCOM to integrate the data of these systems in The Observer XT.

21 Drawing by Fabrizio Virtual Shop Simulator (under development) A F E C D B G A virtual reality system creates an immersive virtual supermarket (A) on 9 LCD screens, through which the test subject can navigate by moving the handle bar of the virtual shopping cart (B). A pointing gesture directed at a product causes packaging details to be displayed (C). A product can be added to the shopping cart by pressing a button on the cart screen (D). Two eye trackers (E) record the subject s eye movement and point-of-gaze. The subject wears a flexible cap with EEG and NIRS sensors (F), whilst heart rate and GSR are measured by sensors in the handle bar (G). The experiment is controlled by an operator from a remote computer console. All stimulus and response data are synchronized and logged in a central database for offline integrated analysis.
