David received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and continued his post graduate education at The Ohio State University and Michigan State University. He held the professional designation of Certified Public Accountant in Ohio and Michigan until his retirement. David held professional membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. David and Jill married in Upper Arlington, Ohio. David and Jill moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 1986 where they currently reside. David has been involved in many community organizations: Grosse Pointe Park Little League baseball coach, Grosse Pointe Neighborhood Club basketball coach, the Detroit Athletic Club Executives Club and currently the Senior Men s Club of Grosse Pointe. Boring was coroneted a Sovereign Grand Inspector General on August 31, David received the 32 in the Valley of Detroit. He received certification of witnessing all the Scottish Rite degrees, is a prepaid life member of the Valley of Detroit and serves as Treasurer of the Council of Deliberation and Treasurer of the Michigan Scottish Rite Fund. David served as Most Wise Master, Vice President and Treasurer Valley of Detroit Board of Trustees, and member of the Scholarship Committee. On June 11, 2016, David received the Kenneth O. Chandler Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Council of Deliberation. David received his three Craft degrees in Composite Lodge No David served as Worshipful Master and is a prepaid life member. David s father was raised to the sublime degree in Franklin Lodge No. 14 in Troy, Ohio in David currently serves as chairman of the Grand Lodge Finance Committee and has served on the Investment Committee, the Masonic Charitable Foundation Board of Trustees, Masonic Pathways Governance Committee, and Masonic Pathways Protocol Committee Task Force. David is a Platinum Presidential member of the George Washington Masonic Memorial Association. David is an active member of Michigan Lodge of Research No. 1, a life member of the Scottish Rite Research Society, the Michigan College S.R.I.C.F., Red Cross of Constantine, Allied Masonic Degrees and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. David currently serves as the Preeminent Governor of York Rite Sovereign College #8 and has served all three York Rite appendant bodies culminating in receiving the Knight York Grand Cross of Honor from Michigan Priory No. 22. David is an active member of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem. He has received the Pilgrims Medal and was promoted to Commandeur (KCTJ) in David is very active in the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. In July 2016, David received the Minuteman Medal, the highest award presented by the National Society and the Meritorious Service Medal. Standing committee service includes Chairman of the Finance Committee, National Trustee, Chapter President, Endowment Fund Board, Executive Committee, Strategic Planning, Vice Chairman of the Investment Committee, Capital Development Committee, Vice Chairman of the Protocol Committee and the Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest Adjudicator. David is a member of the War of 1812 lineage society, and First Families of Ohio.

5 Illustrious Brother David Rodney Bedwell, Sr., 33 Ill. Brother David was born the son of Rodney D. and Annie Bedwell on September 25, 1955, in Dearborn, Michigan. He graduated from Dearborn High School in 1973, and then attended Henry Ford Community College receiving an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology. He was employed by Ford Motor Company as an Engineering Design Technologist in the Powertrain Division and retired after 30 years in On July 26, 1980, he married Pauline Margaret Werth, who survives along with their son David Jr. (April), daughter Ashley, and two grandchildren. David was a member of the Boy Scouts, receiving the Eagle Scout Award at the age of 14. He later became a pack leader and committee chairman as his son David joined the Scouts in the Webelows. Raised in Dearborn Lodge No. 172 on February 20, 1989, served as Master in He was a charter member of Acacia Lodge No. 7 and held Honorary Membership in several Lodges. In 1997, he was elected to the moving line as Grand Marshal and installed as Grand Master of Masons in Michigan in He then went on to serve as Membership Development chairman and Lodge Renewal chairman. In 2003 until 2006, Ill. Bedwell chaired the Masonic Renewal Committee of North America. He was a member of several of the Masonic organizations including Royal Arch, Commandery, Shrine, Jesters, AMD, Red Cross of Constantine and Rosicrucians. He joined the Valley of Detroit in the Spring Class of David served on the Reception Committee, as President of the Board of Trustees and editor for the Valley Voice. In 2003, he was coroneted a 33, in 2007, an Active Member of the Supreme Council and in 2009, Deputy for Michigan. Illustrious David R. Bedwell Sr., 33 was a believer in Masonic Renewal and Leadership. On July 17, 2016, he was called by the Supreme Architect of the Universe to lay down his working tools. The Valley of Detroit is proud to dedicate in his memory, being named the Class Honoree for the 364th Fall Reunion. Rehearsals have started for the 2016 Fall Reunion. 6 SCOTTISH RITE DAY SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2016 NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN MASONIC JURISDICTIONS COME TOGETHER IN THE FIRST NATIONWIDE EVENT CELEBRATING OUR FRATERNITY On November 12, 2016, Michigan Valleys will come together to celebrate the Scottish Rite. It is the first time the fraternity has held such a nationwide day of honor. Commander McNaughton and Commander Seale are asking that everyone in both jurisdictions commemorate Scottish Rite Day. Our hope is that you see it as a chance to enjoy a fun, memorable occasion where you can reach out to and connect with your Brothers. Michigan is planning a statewide 32 conferral at the Bay City Scottish Rite Center. There will be entertainment for the ladies while the conferral is taking place. A social hour, banquet with entertainment, and dancing will round out the event. Thirty-third degree members will be asked to wear white tie and tails to the conferral and banquet and all others either a tuxedo or dark suit. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Bay City DoubleTree Riverfront Hotel ( ). Scottish Rite Day is meant to be an enjoyable, inspirational, and meaningful experience for our members. The event will also accord the 32 the recognition and prestige it deserves. A new jewel will be available in November 2016, to all who have been made a Scottish Rite Mason. Each candidate receiving his 32 will be presented this commemorative jewel free of charge; others may purchase this one-of-a-kind jewel for $25. There will be more information concerning the jewel and medallion in the months ahead. Registration information and schedule of events is available on the Michigan Council of Deliberation website.
