Chapman, Sr. and Anna Y. Chapman. He married Kathy on May 10, Tommy and Kathy are the parents of two children: Katie Rendon and Chance Chapman. Katie is married to Timothy Rendon, who is also a member of Nederland Lodge. The Chapmans are members of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland, Texas. Following his graduation from Nederland High School in 1980 Tommy attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. We will also have a special program to present so please bring your spouse or significant other. Preparations are starting for Public Schools Week next month. Tommy was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on May 10, 1983 in Nederland Lodge No He served as Worshipful Master of Nederland Lodge in Tommy was presented with the Golden Trowel Award for Exceptional Service by Nederland Lodge in He currently holds a Class A Certificate which expires in 2019, giving him 23 total years. Tommy served as District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District No. 26-A in He served on the Grand Lodge Committee on Petitions in 1992 and served on the Grand Lodge Youth Activities Committee from 2005 until 2011, serving as Chairman in 2008, 2010, and 2011 and Vice-Chairman in Tommy served as Grand Master Conference Chairman in He served as Area Coordinator for the Grand Master in He also has served as Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Benin near the Grand Lodge of Texas since Tommy was appointed to the Texas Masonic Youth Foundation in 2007 and serves on the Grants Committee. Tommy is a member and served as Puissant Sovereign of the San Felipe Conclave Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine in He received the Red Cross of Constantine in Tommy received the Knight of York Cross of Honor in 2001 and is a member of Thomas H. Ridout Priory No. 75. He received the Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests in 2006 and is a member of Resurrection Tabernacle No. XXI. He became a member of Southeast Texas York Rite College in 2003 and is a Past Governor. He received the Order of the Purple Cross in He was appointed Deputy Grand Governor of Texas in Tommy is a member of the Galveston Scottish Rite Bodies. He is Degree Master of the 6th and 15th Degrees and Assistant Degree Master of the 28th Degree, and he has served as Assistant Degree Master of the 32 Degree. He served on the Reunion Staff and works on several Degree teams. He served on the Scholarship and Membership Committees. As an active DeMolay he served as Master Councilor of Nederland Chapter and was awarded the Past Master Councilor Meritorious Service Award. He also received the Representative DeMolay Award, Founders Membership Award, Blue Honor Key award, and the Lamp of Knowledge. He was knighted as a Sir Knight in the Houston Priory. He was elected and served as District Deputy State Master Councilor. He was also elected and served as South East Texas Area Master Councilor. He received the Degree of Chevalier in Tommy has served as Chairman of the Advisory Council of Nederland Chapter Order of DeMolay since He has received the Legion of Honor, Cross of Honor, and Advisor s Honor Key. He was made an Honorary State Master Councilor of the Texas DeMolay Association by his son during his term. He is currently serving as Grand Commander of the Texas State Court of Chevaliers. 4 WORHIPFUL MASTER JERRY HENDRICK From the East Well, the year is half over, but there are still, many things that we can accomplish. For those of you who missed the January meeting, we will be having a chili dinner on the 15th of February at 6:30pm, the proceeds from this event will go to support our scholarship program. We will also have a special program to present so please bring your spouse or significant other. they can offer a helping hand to increase our numbers, sometimes the ones we forget are the ones with the most to give if only asked. On another note, our number are shrinking, if you know of a Brother who has not attended in a while, please extend an invitation and a ride if needed, lets see if we can get a few Brothers to return, maybe SENIOR WARDEN HEATH MORGAN From the West Since we are in February and Valentine s Day draws near, lets discuss our actions and love pertaining to our work in Masonry and the Lodge. Let me define love first, I m talking about the verb, not the emotion. To love another, to act with respect, squaring our actions with the square of virtue if you will. We talk of brotherly love all the time. We go to great extremes to help our masonic family, as we should. However today I want to focus on the Lodge. If you remember the form of the symbolic lodge, and take our lessons to heart, we are reminded, obligated, and as all good men should, to love all from East to West and between North and South as we love our brothers. Just because others have not taken up our vows or use the same working tools as we do, that does not excuse them from our beneficent actions. Do not allow yourself to keep the lessons of masonry within the four walls of your physical lodge. Take our lessons aboard with you in your travels, love all of the Creators creations as you love yourself. Use the square, the plum, and level in all you do. Peace and Harmony be yours, JUNIOR WARDEN JUSTIN ROBBINS From the South I would like to continue our journey into Title V by looking at Chapter 17 art Some may notice this is quite a jump from last month (chapter 3). Chapters 4 through 15 deal specifically with disciplinary proceedings. While this information is extremely useful for all masons, I believe the detailed specifics of a disciplinary proceeding is beyond the scope of this article. Chapter 17 describes the process for appeals to Grand Lodge after a decision has been made by the Masonic Disciplinary Commission. Article 606. States that, Within thirty days after the decision of the Masonic Disciplinary Commission is rendered, or, if a motion for new proceeding is filed, within thirty days after the overruling of such motion, the accused, or the Junior Warden, or any member of the lodge shall have the right to appeal to the Grand Lodge from any final judgement of the Masonic Disciplinary Commission, or so do so upon order of the Worshipful Master. The remainder of Chapter 17 describes the specifics for filing an appeal to Grand Lodge. This section is important because it describes the rights of a mason after a decision has been made by a Masonic Disciplinary Commission. Without being familiar with this section of Title V, a mason may not even be aware that he has the right to appeal at all. 5 FROM THE SECRETARY HARROLD LOVELESS Taking Care of Business Dues notices were sent out in December As of this article, there are seventeen brothers who are in arrears. Please make arrangements to get them paid. I will be getting with the Committee on Members in Arrears and sending out notices. There will be a Chili cook-out to raise funds for scholarships. Date and time is still to be determine. On February 9th, besides our regular Stated Meeting, we will have the Lodge's Sweetheart program. All brethren are encouraged to attend and bring that someone special with you. FROM THE SENIOR DEACON BRANDON GOULD Visiting Brothers and Prospects We would like to thank the brothers and visitors that attended our stated meeting for the month of January. While I was not able to attend it is always great for brothers to come together and I am grateful for all in attendance. We hope to see you at our next stated meeting on Friday, February 9th at 7:30 pm (dinner at 6:30 pm) and encourage anyone interested in getting involved with the degree team to attend floor practice every Tuesday at 7:00 pm. Also, I would like to invite all existing brothers to reach out to other masons, whether from our lodge or others, and invite them out to visit our lodge at either a stated meeting or even floor practice. Masonry is about brotherhood and we should be meeting and getting to know other masons from around the area not just within our lodge and the occasional visitor. I look forward to seeing everyone at lodge this month and hope all are blessed throughout their journey in life.. FROM THE SENIOR STEWARD LUIS RAMOS Food, Flowers & Frolic Father God, show us the wisdom from the rite of discalceation, one shoe on and one shoe off, that not everything in life comes to us with great ease. Teach us from circumambulation that life is a pilgrimage with many starts and stops along the way. Remind us through the rite of destitution that we need to be charitable. Encourage us to learn from salutation the need for lawful authority, the importance that some should lead while others follow. Cause us to know from investiture that we should strive to keep our behavior upright so as not to soil our character and morality. Help us to live by these rites and thus to improve our lives.
