AAQIUS, a member of the Fondation Prospective et Innovation chaired by the former Prime Minister of France, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, took part in the One Belt One Road summit hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, on 14 and 15 May. The driving force behind the summit was the Chinese President s clear commitment to developing new trade routes, in partnership with international players keen to take part in this innovative project. AAQIUS has risen to the challenge, responding to a promise to inject new vitality into trade between Asia, Europe and Africa through the implementation of major economic, industrial, scientific and cultural projects.

Through OBOR, the world s second biggest economy hopes to revive the ancient Silk Road, a vast network of trade routes once used by the Middle Kingdom to trade with Europe via central Asia.

One Belt One Road: Forging ties that are good and not just for trade! At the summit, the AAQIUS delegation established links with various Chinese companies interested in the innovative new technologies developed by the Franco-Swiss firm, which specialises in clean energy sources (particularly hydrogen). Stéphane Aver, CEO of AAQIUS, stressed the benefits of President Xi s win-win strategy: «Both Europe and Africa must build up their trade with Asia. China is now one of the leading countries in Asia, and an essential partner. Intercontinental cooperation is not only good for economic development everywhere, but it is also vital to peace.»
