1 April 2012 Volume 1, Issue 4 Inside this issue: CCA Forged Closer Ties with China Exim Bank CCA Welcomed a Delegation from the Chinese Consulate General in New York Executive Director Linda Kellner of NJBAC Visited CCA CSCEC Vice President Kong Qingping visited CCA Corporate Headquarters CCA Forged Closer Ties with China Exim Bank In mid-april, CCA welcomed Vice President Zhu Xinqiang of the Export-Import Bank of China (Exim Bank) and his delegation into her offices in America and The Bahamas, furthering the close cooperation and partnership between the two parties. During his stay in America, Mr. Zhu represented the Exim Bank in signing the Memorandum of Understanding for the Premiere Central Park Hotel& Residences Development (the MOU) with Extell Development Company (Extell). As a key stakeholder who brought the deal together, CCA President Ning Yuan attended and witnessed this important moment. The MOU, which established CCA as Extell s exclusive financial advisor, indicated a critical step forward in this tri-partite partnership.

2 Accompanied by President Yuan and Vice President Tiger Wu, Mr. Zhu visited the Baha Mar project, including the jobsite, temporary offices, cafeteria, and workman s camp. He positively commented on the project s progress, reaffirming CCA s best-in-class management competency. While recognizing CCA s effort and expertise in exploring prime business opportunities in the U.S. market, Mr. Zhu expressed great interest and strong intention in enhancing cooperation with CCA on future projects. CCA Welcomed a Delegation from the Chinese Consulate General in New York On April 5, 2012, a delegation from the Chinese Consulate General in New York, led by Deputy Consul General Zhu Wanjin, visited CCA to learn about its successful stories and strategic development in America. Consisting of 25 representatives, it is the first government delegation CCA hosted at its new headquarters after the grand opening. President Ning Yuan, joined by Vice President Peter Wu, Carter Cao and Linsen Zhang, showed Mr. Zhu and the rest of the delegation around CCA s new office upon their arrival. In his welcome remarks, President Yuan shared his vision on how CCA has evolved into a successful company, pointing out that CCA s substantial development cannot be achieved without the guidance of and trust from the Consulate General. Vice President Cao took a step further in introducing CCA in more detail, including its development history and status quo. In conclusion, Mr. Zhu said that CCA stands out as a good example of entrepreneurship. He appreciated the opportunity to gain first-hand information on CCA s business in America, which serves as a practical reference and useful resource when facilitating communication and cooperation between the business communities of China and the U.S.

3 Executive Director Linda Kellner of NJBAC Visited CCA On April 20, 2012, Ms. Linda Kellner, Executive Director of New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC), paid a visit to CCA headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey. President Ning Yuan had met with and spoken to Ms. Kellner on various occasions, during which she repeatedly expressed her willingness to visit CCA and see for herself CCA s impressive development. Her visit to CCA was her last visit to companies before leaving the current role at NJBAC, indicating CCA s importance to the economic growth of New Jersey. When touring Ms. Kellner around CCA s new office, President Ning Yuan expressed his appreciation to her for squeezing time to visit CCA while showing his pride in CCA contributing to local employment. Michael Van Wanger, an executive from New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company, was tapped by Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno to serve as the new head of NJBAC. Ms. Kellner said she would be happy to introduce Mr. Van Wagner to CCA before she leaves. CSCEC Vice President Kong Qingping visited CCA Corporate Headquarters On April 24, 2012, CCA received, at its new corporate headquarters, a delegation headed by Mr. Kong Qingping, Vice President of CSCEC, and Vice Chairman & President of China Overseas Holding Ltd., a CSCEC subsidiary based in Hong Kong. After a brief tour of CCA s new office, President Ning Yuan, joined by Vice President Mike Mei, Vice President & CFO Linsen Zhang, and Senior Vice President Jie-tai Huang, had a meeting with the delegation. Mr. Hao Jianmin was also a member of the delegation, who is the Vice President of China Overseas Holding Ltd., and the Vice Chairman & CEO of China Overseas Land & Investment Ltd., which ranked No. 1 among Top 20 China Real Estate Enterprise Brand Value. Mr. Kong affirmed CCA s growth under the leadership of President Yuan, saying that he could simply see CCA s development through the difference between the new corporate headquarters and the previous one. It was agreed by Mr. Kong and President Yuan that China Overseas

4 Holding should be more involved into the real estate development market in the U.S., leveraging on the platform built up by CCA. Earlier on April , Mr. Zhou Yong, Vice President of China Overseas Holding Ltd., and Vice Chairman& CEO of China State Construction International Holdings, Ltd., also visited CCA s new corporate headquarters. President Yuan, along with Vice President Jack Yang, had a great meeting with him, exploring potential cooperation opportunities in developing the U.S. market. CCA Civil Made Its Presence in Staten Island Community Event On April 12, 2012, CCA Civil was invited to attend a community event at the College of Staten Island in New York, which was hosted by the New York State Department of Transportation, or NYSDOT. The purpose of the event was to inform the residents of Staten Island about the Staten Island Expressway (SIE) reconstruction project. As the general contractor, CCA Civil attracted great attention from the local community. Joseph Catapano, Project Manager of SIE project attended the event to make introduction and respond to questions, representing the company. Also in attendance was Charles O Shea, Director of Government Relations for the NYSDOT, Linda Baran, President of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, and various representatives from several unions. Catapano explained how CCA Civil is widening lanes of SIE to increase the quality of life by decreasing the travel time for many local residents and commuters, to which the local residents responded positively. Ms. Linda Bara expressed satisfaction that CCA Civil is using many local businesses and presenting job opportunities to the community. Many attendants to the event, including students from the College of Staten Island and residents, expressed interest in working on the SIE project. Economic & Commercial Office of Chinese Consulate General in NY Visited CCA On April 17, 2012, CCA received Ms. Liu Yi, Counselor of the Economic & Commercial Office of the Chinese Consulate General in New York, and her entire office staff at CCA s headquarters in Jersey City, NJ. The primary goal of their visit was to learn about CCA s exceptional accomplishment in the infrastructure industry of the Greater New York Area, and explore what makes CCA successful.

5 President Ning Yuan toured Counselor Liu around CCA s new office, during which she held CCA in high regard that the company truly cares about its employees including providing them with such a spacious and comfortable working environment. During the meeting, President Yuan reviewed CCA s footprints of development in the U.S. with the Economic & Commercial Office. Senior Vice President Jie-tai Huang provided a comprehensive picture on America s infrastructure industry, including its characteristics, status quo, and development trend. When talking about CCA s strategies in making breakthroughs in the local infrastructure market, Counselor Liu positively commented that CCA has adopted a practical and down-to-the-earth attitude to realize its ambitions step by step. Counselor Liu concluded that while CCA has proved itself time and time again as a successful company running its business in the most competitive market in the world, it should assume the role of showcasing how to achieve win-win in going global to other Chinese companies. CCA Made Its Debut Campus Recruiting in Greater New York Area On April 19, 2012, CCA participated in the Spring Career Fair on the campus of Manhattan College, which is highly regarded by the construction industry in Greater New York as a birth place of quality engineers, rolling out CCA s 2012 campus recruiting program. In the 65 recruiters, CCA was absolutely the star in the spot light, attracting the most interest

6 among job applicants. During the two and a half hours, CCA representatives talked with nearly 50 students about who we are and what we do. Many students were amazed by CCA s projects and development in the U.S. over the past 26 years, saying that they were astonished that they had not even heard about such a great company. It was the first time that CCA was present at campus recruiting events in the region. While serving as an opportunity for CCA to gain more exposures locally, it also reflected CCA s growing role as a major player in the construction market in the U.S. Baha Mar Resort Project Achieved Another Milestone On April 21, 2012, the Baha Mar Resort Project achieved another milestone at 3 p.m. After 22 hours of hard work and 1,794 m3 of concrete poured, the project team finished the pouring of the PC178C-1 pile cap for the Hyatt Hotel. The project team encountered a rare rain of 7-hour long during the pouring, putting forward a severe test on the job. However, with the effective coordination and full support of all departments, a drainage solution was worked out promptly to ensure the on-schedule completion of concrete pouring. The completion of PC178 pile cap not only marks a significant step forward of the Baha Mar project, but demonstrated once again CCA s long-lasting tradition of hard work Annual 401 (k) Training Hosted On April 26, 2012, the annual 401 (k) training was hosted at CCA s corporate headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey. Nearly 20 employees attended the training session, including Mr. Carter Cao, Vice President and Human Resources Director of CCA. The broker representatives briefed the participants on the basics of 401 (k) and CCA s 401 (k) set-up in particular, after which

7 they also took questions from the floor. It is acknowledged that the training fulfilled its goal of educating CCA employees, both old and new, about 401 (k) and how to plan for retirement in general. Given the fact that a sizable number of employees are on the jobsites, especially the Staten Island Expressway project, similar trainings are considered to be held specifically for them as well later this year.
