8 RIBBON CUTTING AT 9 A.M. Central Missouri Community Credit Union is getting ready to Party Like It Is 1961 by celebrating 55 years of service to our community! Members are invited to join us in voting for our favorite I Love Lucy Look- Alike on Facebook starting July 22nd. Better yet, join in the fun and check out the candidates yourself at any of the three branches in Warrensburg, Sedalia or Richmond. Employees will be recreating 1961 on July 22 to celebrate our 55 th Anniversary. To make this Double Golden Anniversary even more special, CMCCU employees are celebrating their documented 1,400 hours of community service. $16, was raised by 45 employees to help local causes in fighting hunger and fighting cancer. Many more hours were spent volunteering that went unrecorded, but not unappreciated. Some unusual fundraising methods were utilized that contributed to CMCCU s success: BRAS for a CAUSE raised money by members voting for a chance to win a Themed Bra decorated to catch someone s eye or put it out in the case of the Tool Chest Bra. (See picture). Some employees took a Pie in the Face, decorated pumpkins, created Summer Fun baskets, held bake sales, donated hundreds of pounds of food, or raffled baskets and Scentsy products. Other volunteers helped at the local feeding the hungry project, Relay for Life, and the senior citizen s center for the last two years. All these efforts were employee directed and driven, and they are to be congratulated. What a way to celebrate our 55 th Anniversary through community service! 8

11 WEEKLY POSITIVE NETWORKING TIP+ By GGOOD ADVICE, RARELY HEARD Tobias van Schneider, multidisciplinary designer & creative in a post entitled Two words of advice you rarely hear offers up a relationshipenriching perspective on work and life. He says the two words are: Be useful. Every time I feel a little lost or don't remember what I wanted to do, I go back to the basics. I just try to be useful. Being useful is so simple. It not only helps other people but also yourself. His top three ways to be useful are: 1. Share knowledge 2. Solve a small problem 3. It s not your job? Do it anyway! And, it s not just the act of being useful. Tobias puts it this way: I think being useful is a highly underestimated value that we rarely talk about. I love working with useful people because they ask the right questions rather than just trying to find the answers. (The bold is ours.) The Whiteman Base Community Council (BCC or Base Community Council) works to support the Airmen with fundraising to allow them to hold events on base for the Airmen and their families. This year, the Base Community Council will hold one fundraiser and that will be a vehicle giveaway. We have 12 Dealerships from the BCC Communities as sponsors this year, they are listed on the raffle ticket. Raffle tickets are available to purchase to enter and are $25 each or 5 for $100. We will be selling 2,000 tickets. When the raffle tickets are gone, we will hold an event on Base with a guest speaker and members of the communities and Airmen from Whiteman. They will enjoy a meal, guest speaker and one of the entrants will be drawn and win a car. The winner will choose from one of the 12 participating dealerships / brands to go and purchase the car. For More Information on how to purchase a raffle ticket visit 11

13 This year the Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Auxiliary Board awarded six $1,000 scholarships to local students for education needs. This year s recipients include La Toya Anderson, Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Central Missouri (UCM); Kaci English, a 2016 graduate of Warrensburg High School earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UCM; Jennifer Evert, Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Health Care Management at Ottawa University; Alicia Krug, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at UCM; Kathryn Smith, a 2016 graduate of Warrensburg High School earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC); and Allison Steelman, Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at UMKC. Each year, the WMMC Auxiliary sponsors the Health Care Career Scholarships for students who are pursuing or furthering their education in any health care field. Recipients are selected by the WMMC Auxiliary Scholarship Committee based on financial need, scholastic ability, work plans and a demonstrated interest in health care. As educational expenses are rapidly rising and the demand for health care workers increases, there is a continuing need for additional funds. Donations are encouraged and appreciated by the WMMC Auxiliary to ensure the opportunity to provide additional monetary assistance for our future health care providers. Donations can be made to the WMMC Auxiliary for the Health Care Career Scholarship Fund and sent to WMMC Auxiliary, 403 Burkarth Road, Warrensburg, MO For questions, contact: Tara Carlyle Director of Marketing and Business Development (660) tcarlyle@wmmc.com 13
