1 Keynote Speaker "What Canadians Really Think: About Practically Everything" Gain insight regarding useful concepts and information on the state of the economy, business in transition, technology and the future and what we should be doing to succeed in a changing business and social environment. John Wright is Senior Vice- President for Ipsos-Reid Wright is senior vice president and managing director for the Canadian Public Affairs Division of Ipsos. In addition to his client responsibilities, involving strategic and tactical communications research, he has been the company s go-to media spokesperson for many years on politics, policy and consumer trends. His inside knowledge, access to research and unique sense of playfulness gives audiences valuable concepts and information on the state of the economy, business in transition, technology, the future and what we should be doing to succeed in a changing business and social environment. John had his own radio show on CFRB Radio in Toronto for nearly 15 years with one of the top political commentary panels in the country, and he regularly co-hosts and anchors the daily market closing show SqueezePlay on Canada s business news network BNN. He s also appeared on every major news channel from CNN to Al Jazeera and has been quoted in print around the world. Wright gives cutting-edge solo presentations and sometimes teams up with fellow pollster Darrell Bricker, with whom he s co-authored best-selling books What Canadians Think About Almost Everything, We Know What You re Thinking, and Canuckology: From Dollars To Donuts Canada s Premier Pollsters. A patriot, he s the Honorary Colonel for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) 400 Squadron, is a member of the RCAF Air Board and the RCAF Commanders Council, has served as Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel for the Canadian Army Ontario Regiment (Armored Corps).

Jury Konga, Principal, egovfutures Jury Konga is an innovator and long-time advocate and international speaker on Open Government, Open Data, e-government, m-government, transformative/disruptive innovation and Smart Cities/Intelligent Communities. He is the Principal of egovfutures Group providing strategic and operational planning and research in a number of sectors including government, health and environment. Jury developed the Open Data Framework for Canada s G4 cities (Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa) in 2010 and has assisted numerous other municipalities in developing Open Data, Open Government, innovation and Community Engagement strategies, road maps and implementation plans. He is the Canada Ambassador for Open Knowledge, a global non-profit that is recognized internationally for their leadership in Open Government and Open Knowledge. He was appointed as an IPC Access by Design Ambassador by Dr. Ann Cavoukian, Ontario s former Information and Privacy Commissioner and Co-founder of the former Canadian Open Data Institute. 5 Municipal Law Update Richard Brookes, Regional Solicitor, The Regional Municipality of Waterloo Richard Brookes has been a Solicitor with the Region of Waterloo since 1998 practicing in various areas that include construction law, environmental law, expropriation law, by-laws and general municipal advice. Richard has a bachelor of arts from the University of Waterloo (1991) and a bachelor of laws from Western University (1994). The author of a number of articles on organizational effectiveness, Simon Farbrother has presented nationally and internationally on a range of municipal leadership topics. Simon has been recognized by the International City/County Managers Association (ICMA) with awards for Program Excellence for Innovation in Local Government (2001) and for Environmental Sustainability (2006). Simon recently completed a three-year term as International Vice President of the International City/County Managers Association (ICMA) board. He has also served as President of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) (2007) and as President of the Canadian Institute of Planners (1999). He is currently a member of the ICMA International Committee, a Director of the Alberta Emerald Foundation Board and a member of the Conference Board of Canada Public Sector Executives Network. Featured Speaker Simon Farbrother, Former CAO City of Edmonton and Past President ICMA Through a joint initiative of the Canadian International Development Agency and the Local Government Leadership Coach Program, Simon has acted as a coach to municipal leaders in the Philippines on effective municipal governance and leadership development. Education Simon has an undergraduate Degree in Economics and Geography from Portsmouth University in England (1982) and a Masters Degree in Geography from the University of Alberta (1985). Employment Simon joined the City of Edmonton in 2010 as City Manager. From 2005 to 2009, he served as City Manager of Waterloo, which was named the International Intelligent Community of the Year in 2007 by the Intelligent Community Forum. He has also served as City Manager of Spruce Grove, Alberta from 1997 to Simon began his career in municipal government with the City of Leduc, serving from 1988 to 1997.
