1 J u l y 1 1, Economic Outlook Update Rick Wedell returned to his native Alabama in 2016 to become chief investment officer at the Birmingham-based RFG Advisory Group. Prior to his return to Alabama, Rick had a successful career with Bain Capital Credit in Boston. He gained 14 years of experience holding multiple management positions within the fixed income group where he helped Bain Capital Credit grow to a firm with approximately $30.4 billion in assets under management. Rick Wedell Prior to serving as executive vice president of Bain Capital Credit, Wedell was the head of fixed income consumer investments where he sourced private investments, led a research team and was responsible for underwriting and coverage of consumer products. Rick received his bachelor s degree in applied mathematics and economics from Harvard University where he graduated magna cum laude. Subsequently, he graduated from Stanford s School of Business with his MBA. At Stanford he was a Henry Ford Scholar, the number one student academically. 2 P a g e 2 Shreveport Aquarium July 18, 2017 Jake Wood Jake Wood is the marketing director for the new Shreveport Aquarium slated to open in late summer. This new aquarium is being built by Planet Aqua with the construction headed by Jon Whitehead who has been building aquariums for over 20 years. The old Barnwell Center is being transformed into a 21,000 square feet facility that will be only one of three LEED buildings in our area. LEED-certified buildings are resource efficient. They use less water and energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our new aquarium will host creatures from snails to sharks, all in an interactive, touch and feel environment. SALT is the restaurant they ll have on site. Only products grown and raised in Louisiana will be featured in the restaurant. KP Catering owners Paula Powell and Konstantin Plavnik will be at the helm of the restaurant.
