3 Call To Order 7-1 Welcome President Mark Radtke opened the meeting at 11:35am. 7-2 Minutes Linda Murdix made a motion to approve the meeting minutes of June 7, 2016; Christian Swiencki seconded the motion. Motion passed. 7-3 Treasurer s Report Linda Murdix reported as of May 31, 2016 we have cash of $102,825 of which $46,374 is in the checking account and $56,451 in savings. The prepaid expense of $783 is a deposit for the July 2016 Sox//Cubs game. Mark reported the final year-end financial report will be presented next month. Nancy Miller made a motion to approve the May 31, 2016 treasurers report. Nicole Satterly seconded the motion. Motion passed. Budget Mark Radtke shared the one change requested to be made to the budget is to add $2,680 F&B to the April tour under the Programs Budget. Questions and concerns were discussed and reviewed. Mark reiterated that this is a budget not set in stone. If a new event comes up that your committee would like to pursue, share a proposal summary any time throughout the year. President Mark Radtke made a motion to approve the budget with one correction to the April Tour date. All in favor. None were against. The budget is approved and will be submitted to National. The annual recertification is due August 17, All Murdix Murdix/Admin Old Business 7-4 Bank Signature Cards/Online Access Linda and Nicole reported that the account signature process is complete. Papers will be delivered this week to Bank of America. We will have online access completed this month via a conference call with the bank. Election Results 10% of the membership voted and the officers remain as is. Officers and Board Members will be reported to National by Michelle. Satterly/Murdix Radtke/Admin 3
4 President s Report 7-5 WOW Awards Mark Radtke awarded Christian Swiencki with a WOW Award for her amazing efforts throughout the year for the programs committee. Christian consistently has great topic ideas and speakers with minimal assistance. 990 Forms Read and complete the Conflict of Interest forms to Michelle by July 31. Welcome Mark announced there are three new board members for the coming year. Linda Murdix reported the new Career Services chair is Laurie Giller with Echo Global Logistics. Career Services vice chair Antonio Romero introduced himself. Antonio is with JLL and joined IFMA this year and recently received his FMP. Associates committee member Julie Turner of Interior Investments shared she will step up as the vice chair of the Associates Committee. Associates 7-6 Anna Koutoupis shared that in the Fall the committee would like to have a wine tour in the Michigan wineries. Julie Turner reported the event is priced out to about $100 pp with a bus ride and the tour and wine tastings. October 13 or 14 is the proposed date. Similar to a golf outing a 9-4pm day trip. Any surplus funds could go to our partner charity. Other options the committee considered are the City Winery, a happy hour, and a Saturday event. After board discussion, it was suggested the dates to be considered are September 22 or 23. Mark asked that the committee provide to Michelle an event budget summary and agenda outline to be included in the August board packet. Membership/Admin All/Admin Koutoupis/Turner Career Services 7-7 Linda reported she and the new chairs, Laurie and Antonio, had their first monthly call. They are working on promoting the mentorship program on Facebook and LinkedIn. Mark added that the committee should use the tools that IFMA National offers for career services. Giller/Romero 4
5 Communications 7-8 Tyler Ullrich reported that Drew is out on vacation the next two weeks. Please send requests to both Tyler and Drew so they can cover each other. Tyler stated the newsletter will be going out in the next month send newsletter information to both of them. Community Service 7-9 It was announced that Mike Joyce will be joining the committee. The role of chair and vice chair will be confirmed this month. Hospitality 7-10 Annual Meeting Nancy Miller reported the event plans are confirmed. Fall Member Appreciation Reception The date has been set for September 28 and will be held at OFS Brands in the Mart. OFS has also offered to be the F&B sponsor. World Workplace Nancy is collaborating with the Northern Illinois Chapter to plan the networking reception at WWP in San Diego. The date is October 6 from 5-7pm. Oktoberfest Russ Benson will research other options for a venue in lieu of Berghoffs. Possibly Haymarket. The goal is to have a venue selected by August. Holiday Party The holiday gathering will be held January 5, The venue research continues. Membership 7-11 Pamela Coan reported the committee is calling expired and dropped members. As of June 30, the membership has 332 members, up from 323 one year ago. The Chicago and NI chapters will make the annual donation to the Arbor Foundation this year. The donation is based on the number of new members from July 2015 to June Ten trees are planted for each new member. Bishop/Ullrich Couty/Joyce Coan/Lamboy Coan/Lamboy Professional Development & Education 7-12 Christian Swiencki confirmed the UI Labs tour is Swiencki Ongoing 5
6 set for April 19, Details are being worked on. Steelcase will present the November program, Generation Z is the topic. In October, Kate North will present Designing for the Experience; this may be a panel discussion. The committee would like to have a member survey to be shared at upcoming programs. The final version of the survey will be shared in the August board packet for approval with the plan to distribute it to the attendees at the August or September program. Swiencki Public Relations 7-13 Kevin Corrigan reported the committee would like to promote the chapter Facebook page at the annual meeting by hosting a photo contest. The idea would be to have each table take a photo and post it on Facebook. The committee will pick the winning picture at the event and award a prize. The suggested prize is a bottle of wine for each person at the table approximately $80 total. An idea was suggested to have FaceBook live on the screen during the reception to promote Facebook. Tyler will check wifi ability at WildFire and report back to the committee. After discussion, it was agreed the $80 expense is acceptable. The Board will acquire the wine prize and have it at the event. Mark noted that the budget includes an expense line to purchase a decent camera for the chapter s use. Ashely is charged with ordering the camera. Sponsorship 7-14 Mike Rich reported we have approximately $12,000 committed for medal sponsors. The budgeted goal is $19,000. The committee plans to reach the goal by the next board meeting. Bradarich/Corrigan Bradarich/Corrigan Rich/Finney Sustainability 7-15 Jerry DiCola reported there is no new information on the August tour at NRDC. He will report to the executive board in the next week after discussing with Shona. Potential alternate dates for the tour will be provided if needed. Volunteer Director 7-16 Deb Breclaw reported there are a few volunteers that have not responded to her . It was noted that Sustainability and Community Service O Dea Breclaw Ongoing 6
7 committees need volunteers. Sponsorship may be in need of a vice chair if Arica Finney steps down. New Business 7-17 Scholarship Submissions The Scholarship information will be shared soon with the full membership; the updated forms have been put on the website. We will announce this at the August program and via . Mark Radtkle reported the Northern Illinois Chapter has new executive officers. Laura Ingram is the NI president and Kevin Boyd is the vice president. Sox/Cubs Game 16 of the 30 tickets are available for purchase by the members. An eblast will be sent out today to complete the ticket sales. Linda Murdix made a motion to adjourn at 1:00pm. Nicole Satterly seconded the motion. Motion passed.
