6 12:40 pm 1:30 pm TRADE AND INVESTMENT AGENDA: OUTLOOK AND CHALLENGES The Trump Administration has a series of mounting trade conflicts brewing around the globe. While the current and immediate focus is on China, U.S. friends and allies such as Canada, Mexico, and the EU have also been caught in the line of fire. Trade asymmetries certainly exist between the United States and some of its trading partners but there is no magic bullet to solve these problems, and many within Trump s own party disagree with his tactics. Thinking about the impacts of the Administration s policies in the MENA region specifically, many questions are unanswered: What are the consequences of U.S. sanctions policy on global and regional trade and investment? In what sectors do we expect to see major U.S. investments -- for example, in countries like Saudi Arabia -- the first country President Trump visited in the region?
