1 7 Critical Steps to Succeed in Network Marketing

2 My Fellow Networker Are you looking to grow your network marketing business? YES, we do need to prospect, recruit and build teams. In fact, the process goes something like this. List/Prospect Invite Present Follow Up Start/Duplicate. But this report has nothing to do with those skills or mechanics I truly believe there are some simple key principles that are often overlooked when we get started in this industry which is why I m sharing this report with you. I ve boiled it down to 7 Critical Steps to Succeed in Network Marketing. I ve learned these from every coach, mentor and leader that I ve surrounded myself with along my network marketing journey. By adopting, developing, following and consistently living these steps, you can create extraordinary results in your network marketing business. BUT as with any other endeavor, the key is to act. In each of these steps, it is imperative that we take time to A.C.T A What action can you take, starting today, to develop in this area? C Are there any actions, beliefs, habits or anything you need to change, starting now? T Can you pay it forward? Are there any opportunities for you to teach others in this area? My hope is that this brief report adds value to your network marketing journey. 3 STEP 1: Develop Clarity The first step to succeed in your network marketing journey, supercharge your growth and create extraordinary results, is to develop clarity. In fact, I ve learned that having clarity is essential to focusing your mindset on the right things and moving up the ranks in any endeavor. This is especially true in network marketing. It seems simple enough, but many people do not have enough clarity about what it is they would like to accomplish. What are the top 3 priorities in your life over the next 90 days? Where do you see yourself in the next 6-12 months? What is the MAIN intention you have for your network marketing business over the next 12 months? If you re not absolutely clear about the answers to these questions, in writing then this is your first step. aligning your mindset to the results you desire in your network marketing business. The fact is, you can t hit a target you cannot see. Many people only have a fuzzy idea of what they want to accomplish or the success they would like to experience So, they are unable to align their daily activities with anything other than mundane tasks that keeps them busy, but not growing. If you want to change your results, know not only your path, but the destination. In the book As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, he shares that He who shares a beautiful vision, a lofty ideal in his heart, will one day realize it. While you may have some idea of what goals you want to accomplish or the kind of income you d like to generate this is not enough. What vision/ideal do you have for your business? Personal Purpose Mission Vision This is the foundation necessary for waking up every morning with passion. Goals are not enough

4 If your goals do not align to an overall purpose, a specific mission or a vision of yourself, those goals are not going to have enough meaning for you as you move forward in your network marketing business I believe we all have a common purpose to live an extraordinary life filled with joy and happiness. I also believe we all have a unique purpose. What s your unique purpose and how does your network marketing business help you achieve that purpose? Create a mission/purpose statement that defines YOU and the overall outcome you re seeking. Then, create a vision for yourself of what it will look like living your purpose and create goals that align to that vision! Now you re on your way! STEP 2: Work On Yourself Success in your network marketing business whatever it means to you, will largely be limited by your own level of thinking and personal growth. The solution? You must work on yourself, develop your mindset, and expand your thinking all of which (compounded) will translate into positive expectations, positive thinking, and ultimately positive results in your network marketing business. Average thinking produces average results. As you look to achieve above-average results in your network marketing business, one of your priorities must be focused on personal growth and feeding your mind material that sparks a different level of thinking a success level of thinking. Become growth-focused, and work on it daily. While many people focus on the how (the mechanics or technicalities of building the business), when you have clarity (Step 1) and focus on growth, the how generally works itself out.

5 Thankfully, this is colossal information I learned early-enough in life Following my time in the military, I was introduced to personal growth through a program by internationally renowned speaker Brian Tracy. Under Brian s mentorship, I learned the importance of developing yourself and creating your own luck so-to-speak. Working on my own personal growth has served me well in my network marketing journey and I have no doubt it will create exciting results for you, provided you remain consistent. How to Grow The truth is, we all have the same amount of time every single day. How we spend our time greatly separates those who keep growing vs. those who remain stagnant and doing the same things repeatedly. To continue to grow and strive for higher potentials, you must continuously build selfawareness, your character, skills, relationships and spirituality. Growth doesn t just happen. It is something that must be made a habit through certain activities you choose to do every single day. As John Maxwell puts it, If you focus on goals, you may hit the goals, but that doesn t guarantee growth. If you focus on growth, you will grow and always hit goals. This is the single most critical element in your network marketing journey. STEP 3: Build People Up The quality and quantity of your relationships with other people will determine your success as much or more than any other factor. ~ Brian Tracy The more people who know you and think of you in a positive way, the more success and opportunities you will have for your network marketing business. As you probably know, network marketing is all about relationships. Therefore, it is critical to continuously grow and develop positive relationships by connecting and adding value to people on a regular basis.

6 The fact is, everything we do is based on relationships and interacting with others. But here s the secret Once you begin to attract people into your network marketing business, your focus needs to be on building people up! The sales volume in your group will come and go. It will go up and down. However, leaders stick around. People who believe in you stick around. People who you add value to will stick around. Focus on building people up by locking arms with them, helping them build their success story, edifying them, recognizing them, encouraging them and giving them opportunities to develop their leadership. Two ways in which you can develop more relationships and put this step into action immediately is to: #1. Commit to connecting with 3-5 (or more!) NEW people every single day; and #2. Commit to adding value to people every single day. That is my own personal intention every single day. If you focus on these two activities, you ll be on your way to growing and developing relationships daily, much more than the average person. You cannot build people up if you re not connecting with new people and adding value to them. There is one book I must recommend for this step One of my favorite resources for continually learning and improving the way in which you connect with people and build relationships is Dale Carnegie s How to Win Friends and Influence People Study that book, commit to nurturing your relationships daily, building people up, and watch the exciting results materialize in your network marketing journey as you continue to develop relationships. STEP 4: Focus On Speed Momentum is the best friend of your network marketing business. There are 2 ways to build your network marketing business One way is to build it slow, and another (easier) way is to build it fast. Just think.

7 If you talk to 1-2 people per week about your business, enroll 1 or 2 people every few months, then a couple of those drop off every few months, do you see how it might take you several years before generating any momentum? When you focus on building FAST, you compress time by telling as many people as possible about your business in a short period of time. The result is momentum. In fact, many network marketing leaders will tell you how they work in a series of 90-day commitments. They do so to generate as much business as possible in a short period of time. When you work fast, you can then attract/find a high number of people for your business in a shorter amount of time. Yes, some may drop off. However, because you worked fast and enrolled more than 1, you can work with those who stick around, build people up, and they will lead you to more people in your organization. It is said that success in network marketing is in the numbers. It is also in the speed. You can contact 1,000 people in 10 years. Or you can contact 1,000 people in 3 months. How can you generate speed? Focus on people you have a relationship with Introduce your products/services and/or business opportunity to as many people you know as possible, in the shorter amount of time as possible. Forget about the outcome. Your initial job is to collect a decision and separate those who are not interested from those who can make a decision about becoming your customer or business partner. Take responsibility for your network When you find those who decide to get started in your network marketing business, your job is to help get them started quickly. The people who they know may bring you freedom. There may be someone in their network who could be responsible for thousands of dollars worth of sales volume!

8 The way to find those people is to take responsibility for getting to know who they know and helping them launch their own business quickly. Momentum is your friend. Speed generates momentum. STEP 5: Commit to Building a Legacy Are you just thinking about next month? This year? The next couple of years? Or when it comes to your network marketing business, are you thinking of building an empire? One of the most important concepts I ve learned is Law of Delayed Gratification. This law goes hand in hand with the Law of Sowing and Reaping, which is summed up in Whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap. Well, the key here is that the results of your sowing are going to be realized sometime in the future. If you plant a seed today, you will not have a tree by tomorrow, right? In other words, delayed gratification is the ability to wait for the results to materialize. What does that take? Self-discipline, self-control, will-power But more importantly, faith and belief. One way of planting seeds of greatness for your network marketing business is to commit to building a legacy. Understand the law of delayed gratification and become committed to long-term success. Commit to success and residual income that can benefit your spouse, kids, family, generations or causes that you re passionate about. To do so, you need to develop the clarity I referred to in step 1. Second, you need consistency.

9 If you commit to working your business only once a month, you may find yourself not building much of a legacy. Consistency in network marketing means doing something to work your business every single day. Because of residual income, there will come a time when you will not have to do much work to see your business continue to grow. Until that time, commit to working your business fast, hard and consistently on the way to building a legacy. STEP 6: Surround Yourself With Winners The people that we surround ourselves with have an enormous impact in our lives and our own level of thinking. You ve probably heard it said that You are the average of the 5 people you spend your time with the most. The more success minded people you surround yourself with, the more (and quicker) growth you will experience in your network marketing business. And it doesn t mean physically hanging out with others every day. You can surround yourself with successful people through phone calls, conferences, events, books, videos, networking meetings, etc. Unfortunately, many people get started with network marketing and never lose the negative mindsets and environments that surrounds them. If you hang with turkeys, you re going to act like a turkey. If you hang with eagles, you re going to fly high. One of the benefits of working in network marketing is the fact that you get to choose the people you want to work with. Yes, some negative people may find their way into your organization. However, you can always choose to develop other leaders who are willing, ready and coachable enough to eliminate negativity and focus on building success.

10 So, take a look at the people you are surrounding yourself with on a regular basis. Are they sucking up energy? Or are they filling you with inspiration, motivation and encouragement. STEP 7: Stick To An Action Plan The late motivational speaker Zig Ziglar often said You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want. And you can live out that quote by intentionally adding value to people every day. In fact, the more value you put out, the more you attract. As Jim Rohn put it we get paid for bringing value to the marketplace. Adding value adds profits. However, you can only add value by taking action daily. Adding value helps you stands out from the rest. Create an action plan and stick to it AKA, a DMO: Daily Method of Operation. In fact, your company likely already has one. In network marketing, we get paid for moving product. That s it. Hence, your DMO should consist of income producing activities related to moving product. Sharing your story, inviting, presenting, and following up. These activities are CORE to your action plan, and your company most likely has a system in place to help you do those activities follow a system. Develop an action plan and plan to work it daily. For me, dedicating a specific block of hours to work my business is extremely helpful. It works for me, and for anyone I know that sets aside time for their business. Your action plan should also be natural and a part of life What I mean is, as networkers, we shouldn t necessarily be out just to prospect or to get people, instead we should prospect while we are out. Always keeping an ear open to the opportunity of helping others.
