5 1.1 Mogul Mindset To Become a Mogul, you must first learn about the mogul mindset. You must first commit to making a paradigm shift from the mindset you have currently to the limitless, positive, forward-looking mindset of a mogul. Why become a Mogul? Ask yourself why you want to become a mogul? Are you motivated by financial success, personal goals, or family? Take a moment to write down all of the things that are your driving factors. 6 1.2.1 Your Success You are the lead star and director in the movie of your life. Write down what success feels like to you. Use descriptive ive adjectives! 2 Major Mogul LLC
7 1.2.2 Movie of Success Thinking about your potential success, what do you envision? To reach the million dollar mark? To provide for your children s college tuition? Write down in one or two paragraphs what your movie of success would be. Major Mogul LLC 3
8 1.3 Own Your Own Business What is it that you really love to do? If you could do anything in the world, what would it be? 1.4 What Type of Business is Right for You? Brainstorm a list of ideas that you find interesting. Rank those from 1 to 10 in the order that you would pursue them. Opportunity Rank 4 Major Mogul LLC
9 1.5 Keep a Positive Self Image Becoming a mogul means being the best that you can be. Take a minute to think about yourself. Below list two sentences about how you perceive yourself. Next write down your strengths and weaknesses as you believe them to be. They can be from your social abilities to your technical skills and everything in between. By identifying these strengths and weaknesses, you can better determine the right fit of business for you. Strengths Weaknesses Major Mogul LLC 5
10 1.6 Sacrifices Success is not achieved without some form of sacrifice. In order to reach the top, what sacrifices would you be willing to make? List these below. I would sacrifice 6 Major Mogul LLC
11 1.7 Identify Negative Thinking Think back to a time when you had a situation that occurred in your life that caused negative thoughts. Were you turned down for a raise at work? Did your children receive bad grades at school? Identify that situation and your thoughts in the worksheet below. Thought Processes Worksheet 1. What's the situation? 2. What were my automatic thoughts in or leading up to the situation? 3. What told me the thought has a valid case? 4. What makes me think maybe the thoughts are misled? 5. What might be another way to look at this? 6. What's the worst that could really happen? What's the best? 7. What could happen if I accept the thought? 8. What could happen if I reject the thought and accept an alternate? 9. If this was someone else, what advice would I give? Major Mogul LLC 7
12 10. What three things would benefit me right now? Conclude the worksheet by choosing an affirmation to help you remember or trust yourself to remember any alternative reactions you might want to embrace next time a similar situation arises. 1.8 Never Become Stagnant Think about the goals that you would like to achieve in life. Below list five that would help you in achieving your dream of becoming a mogul. The five goals I will achieve in one year that will support me in realizing my vision are: Out of these five goals, pick one that would be the most attainable first: Identify the starting point for achieving your selected goal, from which you will mount your strategy. 8 Major Mogul LLC
13 List the resources you have available to you currently. Next list the resources needed to be successful. List the allies that would help you achieve your goal. Major Mogul LLC 9
14 1.9 When Not If Write down all of the negative thoughts, fears, worst case scenarios that stand in the way of your if becoming when. Next write down what will happen when you succeed. How will your life change? What will be different? Lifestyle, finances, stress level? 10 Major Mogul LLC
15 2.1 Create Your Blueprint Thinking about the future is one that scares many people. Isn t it ironic that many people have no trouble planning a road trip, but when it comes to their lives, they don t bother to plan out the journey? After all, this is the longest journey you are ever going to embark on. Priorities Ask yourself what your priorities are in life family first? Religion? Taking care of your health? Take a moment to write down 5 or 6 priorities in order from most important to least important. Major Mogul LLC 11
16 2.2 Dreaming Big Long-term Goals Thinking back to the short, one-year goals you defined in 1.8, use those goals to write down the long-term goals you want out of life. Use only present tense and remember to think positively and BIG! 2.3 Three-Month Breakdown Next write three-month mini-goals that pertain to each of the long-term goals. Be realistic and set achieve milestones for yourself. 12 Major Mogul LLC
17 2.4 Weekly Breakdown Long term complete, three month complete next write the weekly goals that you are able to accomplish to get you on the path of the long-term goals. Major Mogul LLC 13
18 2.5 Daily Breakdown You guessed it! Using your weekly goals, list the items daily that you will do to achieve those goals. 14 Major Mogul LLC
19 3.1 Effective Communication Communication is the very heart and soul of business, yet so few people know how to use its tools effectively and appropriately. Respect Name three things that you can change about yourself to respect other people s communication Major Mogul LLC 15
20 4.1 Personality Test On each horizontal line, put the number 4 next to the word that best describes you in that line. Then put a 3 next to the word that describes you next best, a 2 by the third-best word and a 1 by the word that least describes you. On each horizontal line of words you will then have one 4, one 3, one 2, and one 1. Do not put more than one of any number on any horizontal line of words. Example: Likes Having Authority 3 Enthusiastic 4 Sensitive feelings 2 Be Honest! Likes Instructions 1 S G T B Likes Having Enthusiastic Sensitive feelings Likes Instructions Authority Takes Charge Takes Risk Loyal Accurate Determined Visionary Calm, even keel Consistent Enterprising Likes Talking Enjoys Routine Predictable Competitive Promoter Dislikes Change Practical Problem Solver Enjoys popularity Gives Into Others Factual Productive Fun-loving Avoids Confrontation Conscientious Bold Likes Variety Sympathetic Perfectionist Decision Maker Spontaneous Nurturing Detail-oriented Persistent Inspirational Peacemaker Analytical Total S Total G Total N Total B Total After completing this test, total each of the four vertical columns. To make sure you added correctly, add the four totals together. The sum should be 100; if it is not, you have miscalculated one or more of the four columns. 21 After reading more about the various personality types described in the book, do you agree with the results? Why or why not? At first glance, what personality type, did you expect to be? Why did you feel that you were that type? Major Mogul LLC 17
22 4.2 Building Your Team Think of your team as the nails, the lumber, the wires, the materials needed to build your skyscraper. Building your mogul team is about having the right amount of role players and the right amount of star players so you get the job done. A Place for Everyone Now that you have read about the four personality types and their traits, think about what area(s) of your business each type would be best suited in. Understanding the different personality types helps when making decisions concerning hiring and placement. 23 5.1 The Art of Networking Networking is a key aspect of becoming a mogul and growing your business. Being able to share things about yourself and discover things about others will help get people to buy you before they buy your products or services. Avenues to Network Brainstorm about all the different places where you can network and get your business out to the world. Think both virtually and in person. List them below. Major Mogul LLC 19
24 Going Up! - Preparing Your Mogul Pitch 5.2a A mogul pitch is as essential as a business card. It enables you to say who you are, what you do, and what your business is. A mogul pitch describes and sells your business idea in 30 seconds or less. If you don t have an mogul pitch, people won t know what you really do or what your venture really is. Knowing Your Audience/Target Market Before writing any part of your mogul pitch, research your audience. Have the mogul pitch clearly targeted at the individuals you are interested in speaking to. Who is your audience? Who are all the different groups of people who use the kind of services or products you provide? Which of these groups do you most relate to or feel the most interest or excitement about working with? 1 20 Major Mogul LLC
25 5.2b Knowing Yourself Before you can convince anyone of your venture, you need to know exactly what it is. You need to define precisely what you are offering. Answer (Brainstorm) the following questions: 1. What are your product (or service) s key strengths? 2. What comes to mind to describe you and your product/service? 3. What is it you are trying to sell or let others know about you? 2 4. Why are you interested in the company or industry the person represents? 1 Major Mogul LLC 21
26 5.2c Knowing Audience s Needs List what your potential customers need. What is the demand? This is used to tailor your pitch to your audience s needs. Answer (Brainstorm) the following question: What are your customers needs? Think about the aspects of your customers lives where your products or products will be most influential Major Mogul LLC
27 5.2d Knowing Audience s Wants List what your potential customers want. What is the demand? This is used to tailor your speech to your audience s wants. Answer (Brainstorm) the following question: What are your customers wants? Think about the aspects of your customers lives where your products or products will make your customers happy and satisfied Major Mogul LLC 23
28 The Finished Product - Mogul Pitch 5.3 Now that you have brainstormed through each piece that makes up a mogul pitch, let s take those items and write a killer mogul pitch! The key to doing this is to expand on the notes you made by writing out each section in full. To help you do this, follow these guidelines: 1. Take each note you made and write a sentence about it. 2. Take each of the sentences and connect them together with additional phrases to make them flow. 3. Go through what you have written and change any long words or jargon into everyday language. 4. Go back through the re-written material and cut out unnecessary words. 5. Finalize your speech by making sure it is no longer than 90 words long. 6. Try to make memorable using humor or nicknames My Elevator Speech: 24 Major Mogul LLC
29 5.4 Your Business Card Business cards speak volumes about who you are, what you offer and how serious you are marketing your business. Take a moment to sketch out a possible business card for your business. Remember to make your card unique! Major Mogul LLC 25
30 6.1 Selling the Office Space You must master the art of salesmanship. In order to do so however, you must become fully aware of your product or service area. Determine your Niche Make a list of things you like to do, things you are good at, and things that you can make money doing. Determine what meets in the middle. Ideally, it should be something that you like to do and something that will make you money. Things I Like to Do Things I Am Good At Things That Make Money What is your niche? 26 Major Mogul LLC
31 6.2 Utilizing Public Relations List five media outlets in your target market area that you can utilize to spread the word of your business List five websites that you can use spread the word of your business Major Mogul LLC 27
32 Weatherproofing Your Building It can take a long time for some 7.1 people to recover from harsh criticism. Finding people who know how to provide useful criticism, instead of simply telling you all the things they think are wrong with you or whatever you ve made, is a challenge that business owners face. Handling Criticism Think back to the last time that you were criticized. How did it make you feel? Did you react negatively to the criticism or take it with stride? Jot down your thoughts. Who do you receive the best feedback from? 28 Major Mogul LLC
33 What made you choose the above response? Think about specific reasoning as to why their feedback is considered better than others. Major Mogul LLC 29
