1 Head Office: Main Road, Thalayolaparambu, Kottayam Dist., Kerala, India, PIN: : , : / 12 / 13, siit@siitonline.com, Eligibility : 10 th and Above Duration : 1 Year Timing: Morning Batch : 9.30 AM to 1.00 PM or Afternoon Batch : 1.30 PM to 5.00 PM 5 Months Timing: Full Time : 9.30 AM to 5.00 PM Certification : Certificate : Students can obtain certificates of 1. International Certificate [Advanced Diploma in Instrumentation Maintenance Technician - IVQ: Level 3] from City & Guilds Institute of London, UK. [Students joining to this course even with mere qualification of 10 th have the chance to obtain higher level International Certificates which are equivalent to the same certificates for Engineering Graduates. This facility helps them to get higher career opportunities at the starting level itself in International and National Companies.] 2. Certificate in Advanced Diploma in Instrumentation and Industrial Automation from Consortium of KITCO & ASSOCHAM. 3. Certificate of Advanced Diploma in Instrumentation and Industrial Automation form SIIT. 4. Choice to Students: Students have the choice to write examinations of MES of NCVT [National Council for Vocational Training, Ministry of Labour & Employment, GOVT OF INDIA] in the same syllabus according to the periodical notifications of NCVT.
2 Scope of Job of this course: In very huge and gigantic Process Industries to small plants also the machineries are working with fully Computerized and Automated Systems. All the computerized and automated systems are working for the Measurement & Control of Process Elements like Temperature, Pressure, Flow and level etc in Production Process. These Measurement and Control are achieved by Process Instruments like Transmitter, Transistor, Transducer, Control Valves, Solenoid Valves, and Micro Processors etc... There are plenty of vacancies arising every year to assist the Instrument Engineer to install Instruments. Apart from Instrument Installation there are many other jobs like Leak Test using Pneumatic and Hydraulic Supply, Plan Pipe System Layout Installation or repair according to specifications, Cut, Thread, or Hammer Pipes of specifications, using Tools such as Saws, Cutting Torches, Pipe Threads or pipe benders. SIIT planned this course as per the requirement of Industry needs. Type of Industries: Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Fertilizers, Plastics, Pulp and paper, Oil and Gas, Refineries, Aerospace, Alcoholic Beverages, Alternative Energy Production, Automobiles, Aviation, Beverage, Cement, Chemical & Related Manufacturing, Dairy, Electric power, Electronics Manufacturing, Energy, Food Industry, Natural Gas Pipelines, Renewable Energy, Semiconductor, Steel & Iron, Textiles etc.. Job Opportunities of this course: SIIT s Student s passing out with International Certificates can enter into career as Instrument Fitter and within 1.5 years can grow up into the hierarchy of Instrument Technician, Foreman and Supervisor in International Companies all over the world as well as National Companies. There remuneration and other perks may be in International Standard according to their individual skills.
3 SIIT s Uniqueness in this Course: Faculties a. SIIT Faculties have wide international experience and exposure to Process Control Instrumentation. b. SIIT Faculties have up-to-date exposure to the latest developments of Process Control Instrumentation. Most of them are retired after long service in modern Instrumentation Fields in India and Abroad. c. Some of SIIT Faculties teach in SIIT during their vacations, who work in companies abroad where they look after the Instrumentation Departments. d. SIIT Faculties not only teach the practical tests of Instrumentation, but also share with the students the situations faced by the Instrumentation Professionals in the fields. e. The Engineering Colleges have faculties with higher qualifications like M.Tech or PhD, but they are only teaching professional and have no Industrial or real plant experience. SIIT faculties have long years real plant experience, so they are able to train the students with real plant instruments and mini plants in SIIT Lab and also can share onsite experience with each Process Instruments and their Individual professional experienced events regarding Process Control Instrumentation. f. This makes the faculty in SIIT unique. Instrumentation Lab Instrumentation Lab in SIIT is capable of providing Practical Training in Pressure Gauge to modern Smart Transmitters. The Lab of SIIT is well equipped and capable of imparting training for the Operation and Maintenance of various Measurements & Control Systems of the Industrial Parameters like Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Level, Vibration, Conductivity etc. and the Final Control Systems like Control Valve, the Control Systems of DCS/PLC/SCADA etc.
4 Instruments The familiarity with the imported Instruments imparts the work experience equivalent to long term apprenticeship in modern industries, during the training period itself. Therefore the students become capable of working as experienced persons immediately on completion of the course. Difference from others Other institutes including Engineering Colleges use just mere Training Kits fitted in demonstration boards manufactured by companies in their practical labs and they have no live relation with real instruments using in Industrial Plants, but in SIIT we use only Real Plant Process Instruments for Practical Section to students, they are obtained from Real Industrial Working Plants, so they are real instruments than mere training kits. 1. This uniqueness makes SIIT s students also unique in Practical Knowledge. 2. This Uniqueness highly helps SIIT s students to score marks job interviews in both Theoretical ViVA and Practical Test, because they are familiar with Real Process Control Instruments. 3. This Uniqueness helps SIIT s students to easily be simulate with working atmosphere immediately on entering into job in any type of sophisticated plant without anybody s help, because they are already familiar with the Real Industrial Instruments in SIIT Lab and Operational Working Mini Plants of SIIT.
5 Two Operational Working Mini Plants The major attraction of SIIT Lab is the PLC Controlled Working Mini Plants [2 numbers] with Pressure, Temperature, Flow and Level Control Loops in operation. They are equipped with five Control Valves, seven Electronic Transmitters, Solenoid Valves and other Process Control /Measuring Instruments. Students use the facility for On-Site Calibration of Transmitters & Control Valves, Loop Checking, PID Control Tuning, Instrument Tubing Practice and Cable Glanding & Termination Practice and to have a Plant Overview in general.
