11 Turning the Mhine On/Off Turning the Mhine On/Off WARNING Use only regulr househol eletriity for the power soure. Using other power soures my result in fire, eletri shok, or mge to the mhine. 13 Wining/Instlling the Boin Ajusting input sensitivity for opertion keys You n just the sensitivity of the opertion keys to 5 levels. Disply the settings sreen to set esire level. Press to isply the settings sreen. Disply pge 5 y pressing /. Press [Strt]. Wining/Instlling the Boin Only use the plsti oin tht omes with this mhine or oins of the sme type (SA156/SFB: XA /SFB). The oin's height is 11.5 mm (pprox. 7/16 inh). Using other oins my use mge to the mhine. SA156 is Clss 15 type oin. Wining the oin This setion esries how to win thre onto oin. 1 The justing sreen is isplye. Ajust the [Input Sensitivity] y pressing /. The higher the setting, the more sensitive the keys will e. The efult setting is [3]. We reommen seleting the highest setting if n eletrostti touh pen is eing use. While justing the input sensitivity, press to hek whether the key respons. When the key respons, the setting vlue initing the sensitivity links. Memo When wining oin for emroiery, e sure to use the reommene 90 weight emroiery oin thre for this mhine. GETTING READY Press e to return to previous sreen. If the mhine oes not respon when n opertion key is presse Turn mhine off, then hol own (Thre utter utton) n turn on the mhine to reset [Input Sensitivity]. Disply the settings sreen, n then just the [Input Sensitivity] gin. Ple the oin on the oin winer shft so tht the noth in the oin ligns with the spring on the shft, n then slie the oin winer shft to the right until it snps into ple. The Strt/Stop utton lights up in ornge. 1 Noth 1 2 Boin winer shft spring 2 Remove the spool p n ple the spool of thre for the oin onto the spool pin. 14 Wining/Instlling the Boin Slie the spool p onto the spool pin. Slie the spool p s fr s possile to the right, s shown, with the roune sie on the left. If the spool or the spool p is not instlle orretly, the thre my eome tngle roun the spool pin, using the neele to rek. Three spool p sizes re ville, llowing you to hoose spool p tht est fits the size of spool eing use. If the spool p is too smll for the spool eing use, the thre my th on the slit in the spool or the mhine my e mge. When using mini king thre spool, use the thre spool insert (mini king thre spool). For etils on thre spool insert (mini king thre spool), refer to Memo on pge 12. Memo When using the spool s shown elow, use the smll spool p, n leve smll spe etween the p n the spool. 1 3 When using thre tht wins off quikly, suh s metlli thre, ple the spool net over the spool efore pling the spool of thre onto the spool pin. If the spool net is too long, fol it to fit the size of the spool. When the oin wining eomes slow, stop the mhine, otherwise the mhine my e mge. Cut the thre, slie the oin winer shft to the left until it snps into ple, n then remove the oin. Note Mke sure tht the thre is psse uner the pretension isk. f Win the thre lokwise roun the oin 5 or 6 times, pss the thre through the guie slit in the oin winer set, n then pull the thre to ut it. 1 Guie slit in oin winer set (with uilt-in utter) Note Be sure to win the thre lokwise roun the oin, otherwise the thre will eome wrppe roun the oin winer shft. Be sure to ut the thre s esrie. If the oin is woun without utting the thre using the utter uilt into the guie slit in the oin winer set, the thre my eome tngle in the oin or the neele my en or rek when the oin thre strts to run out. Turn on the mhine. g Press the Strt/Stop utton one to strt wining the h oin. k Remove the spool for the oin thre from the spool pin. Instlling the oin Instll the oin woun with thre. You n egin emroiering immeitely without pulling up the oin thre y simply inserting the oin in the oin se n guiing the thre through the slit in the neele plte over. Use oin tht hs een orretly woun with thre, otherwise the neele my rek or the thre tension will e inorret. Before inserting or hnging the oin, e sure to press on the opertion pnel to lok ll keys n uttons, otherwise injuries my our if the Strt/Stop utton or ny other utton is presse n the mhine strts. Turn on the mhine. Press (Neele position utton) one or twie to rise the neele. 1 GETTING READY Press. The sreen hnges, n ll keys n opertion uttons re loke (exept ). Rise the presser foot lever. 13

16 Wining/Instlling the Boin e Slie the oin over lth to the right n remove the oin over. i While lightly holing own the oin with your right hn (1), ontinue guiing the thre through the slit with your left hn (2). Then, ut the thre with the utter (3). f Insert the oin into the oin se so tht the thre unwins to the left. Memo Be sure to omplete the oin threing orretly oring to these instrutions. If the thre is simply ple in the slit in the neele plte over, the oin thre will not e orretly three, resulting in poor emroiery performne or inorret thre tension. g Lightly hol own the oin with your right hn (1), n then guie the en of the thre roun the t of the neele plte over with your left hn (2). 1 T Retth the oin over. j Insert the t of the oin over into the noth of the neele plte over, n then lightly press own on the right sie. Be sure to hol own the oin with your finger n unwin the oin thre orretly, otherwise the thre my rek or the thre tension will e inorret. While lightly holing own the oin with your right h hn (1), guie the thre through the slit in the neele plte over (2) n lightly pull it with your left hn (3). Press k to unlok ll keys n uttons. Memo By guiing the thre roun the t of the neele plte over, pssing the thre s shown y 2 in this illustrtion, then lightly pulling the thre t 3, the thre will enter the tension spring of the oin se to pply the pproprite tension to the oin thre uring emroiering. 14

17 Upper Threing Upper Threing When threing the upper thre, refully follow the instrutions. If the upper threing is not orret, the thre my eome tngle or the neele my en or rek. Remove the spool p n ple the spool of thre onto the spool pin. Slie the spool onto the spool pin so tht the thre unwins to the front from the ottom. Otherwise the thre my eome tngle roun the spool pin. 1 The thre unwins to the front from the ottom. 1 Threing the upper thre Note Refer to Emroiering pttern on pge 27, n prepre emroiery thres in the olors orresponing to those in the emroiery pttern. Slie the spool p onto the spool pin. e Slie the spool p s fr s possile to the right, s shown, with the roune sie on the left. Choose spool p tht est fits the size of spool eing use. For more informtion regring the hoie of spool ps for your thre hoie, refer to Memo on pge GETTING READY When threing the upper thre, refully follow the instrutions. Turn on the mhine. Rise the presser foot lever to rise the presser foot. f If the spool or the spool p is not positione orretly, the thre my eome tngle roun the spool pin or the neele my rek. Pss the thre uner the thre guie, then uner the thre guie over n to the front. Note If the presser foot is not rise, the mhine nnot e three. Press (Neele position utton) one or twie to rise the neele. The neele is orretly rise when the mrk on the hnwheel is t the top, s shown elow. Pss the thre through the thre hnnel in the orer h shown elow. l If the neele threer nnot e use, insert the thre through the eye of the neele from front to k y hn. At this time, e sure to lok ll keys n opertion uttons esrie in step g. Line the mrk on the fri up with the se line on the emroiery sheet. e Gently remove the fri from the frme without loosening the justment srew.
