Note: Additional cost, sample size & TAT may be required if testing to 1 or more supplemental protocols is necessary. Please refer to the above referenced supplemental protocol(s) for additional information. 2 Fire safety warning ASTM F (R2014) section 6.3 modified 1 Shall meet the minimum size requirements, label placement requirements, and minimum safety language. Text only or text and pictograms warnings are permissible, but shall comply with the specific requirements for either option. Text Only Options: Shall consist of the safety alert symbol (Figure 1) followed immediately by the word WARNING in uppercase boldface letters. The following fire safety warning statements or practical equivalents shall appear in this order: Burn within sight Keep away from things that catch fire Keep away from Children These may appear in stacked format or paragraph form. Abbreviated text only fire safety warnings are permissible for candles with warning panels 21 cm² or less in size and for individually wrapped taper candles. The warning shall consist solely of the safety alert symbol followed by the burn within sight pictogram and the fire safety warning statement Burn within sight or its practical equivalent. 4 Cautionary labeling - accessories ASTM F a sec (3) 1 [If applicable] Report the presence of a following warning message or its practical equivalent: WARNING: Do not use a candle greater than X inches tall (where X is the maximum allowable height of the candle). The minimum height of the safety alert symbol ( ) and the warning message shall be 1.8 mm (0.07 in.) based on the height of an upper case letter. This warning shall be directly affixed, engraved or attached to the accessory in such a way that it is likely to remain on the item throughout its useful life (for example an adhesive label placed on the bottom or other surface of the item). If sold with external packaging, this warning shall also appear on the external packaging. Claim verification - level 2 CPSD-GB All Examine the retail packaging (or submitted artwork). Record each objective (factual) claim which can be substantiated by the testing within the protocols and rate accordingly. Record testing that extend beyond existing net quantity / dimensional testing on this protocol. Record all other objective (factual) and subjective (opinion) claims as NT and rate as DATA. 5 ANALYTICAL *Total lead content in surface coatings AOAC (modified) / CPSD-AN All accessible surface coatings in the as received state on items outside of the scope of 16 CFR 1303 shall not contain lead or lead components in which the lead content is in excess of 0.009% (90ppm) of the weight of the total content. Report actual results or include data table within report. Component testing is allowed. Compositing up to 3 like materials is allowed. FLAMMABILITY *Flammability of candle rings, shades, toppers or holders ASTM F a sec. 4.1 & 4.2 / CPSD-HL Flammability of solids 16 CFR (c) (6) (vi) / 16 CFR modified PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Dimensions H-1056 CPSD-GB Parts inventory WORKMANSHIP Sharp points and sharp edges 16 CFR / modified Client Requirement 3 A flame source is applied to each unique component on the candle ring for up to 60s. Three samples of each component shall be tested. Average burn time for each unique component shall not exceed 30 s. An individual component burn time shall not exceed 60 s. Any test for which the flame spreads over the entire candle ring constitutes a failure. 1 Shall not exceed the maximum allowable limit of no greater than 0.1 inches per second. All surfaces of each different material on candleholders shall be tested for flammability of solids. Modification = Test all surface of each material rather than test on major axis only 1 Report overall dimensions; shall meet label claims (If applicable) (-0% / +5%). 1 Shall meet label claims. 6 Defects Workmanship PERFORMANCE All * Moisture content - solid wood only Secondary ignition CPSD-GB ASTM F Sec. 4.2 All Shall have no discernible surface degradation, including crazing, shivering, denting, bubbles, cracks, stains, deformations, chips, fractures, heavy lines, waves, shear marks, scratches, scuff marks, indentations, / or blisters. Shall have no components missing, malformed, and / or fractured. 1 Shall be between 8-12%. Report the actual moisture value. 1 No secondary ignition shall occur during the candle burning performance test. Safety Requirements for Stability *Safety Requirements- Candle Burner and Potpourri Burner ASTM F a sec. 4.4 ASTM F a sec. 4.3 This test applies to all candles and ensembles, except all Easter, Paschal, sacramental candles, and non-freestanding birthday candles. 1 Shall not tip over when placed on a minimum 10 degree incline with the specified candle. If the accessory contains the warning statement specified within section (3) or its practical equivalent, and that warning is in compliance with the requirements specified, then the candle identified on the label shall be used for this stability test. If a warning statement is not present or if a warning statement is present but does not comply with the standard requirements, then the candle size specified within the standard will be used. 1 [Burning characteristics] A candle burner or potpourri burner shall pass the performance requirements if there is no secondary ignition, excessive flame height, or end-of-useful life problems as detailed in Specification F2417 and the burner does not ignite, crack, or break when the candle burner is tested with an appropriate candle. Three identical samples (burners) shall be tested using at least 8 candle burn cycles each. Note: One cycle = Tealight burner til end of useful life, 8 hr for gel candle, 4 hr for other candles. Three samples of each component shall be tested. Average burn time for each unique component shall not exceed 30 s. An individual component burn time shall not exceed 60 s. Any test for which the flame spreads over the entire candle ring constitutes a failure. 1 [Labeling] All candle burners which have the capability of accepting multiple types of candles shall be labeled for use with, quantities of candles, maximum candle size and the candle type(s), (including number of wicks if pertinent). The label must have the following warning message or its practical equivalent, WARNING: For use with quantity, size, # wicks, type candle(s) Example: WARNING: For use with one, single wick container candle up to 22 ounces. The minimum height of the safety alert symbol ( ) and the warning message shall be 1.8 mm (0.07 in.) based on the height of an upper case letter. This warning shall be directly affixed, engraved or attached to the accessory in such a way that it is likely to remain on the item throughout its useful life (for example an adhesive label placed on the bottom or other surface of the item). If sold with external packaging, this warning shall also appear on the external packaging. 1 Measure the entire outside container surface temperature. Report the material type, maximum temperature and location. Surface temperature shall not exceed listed material limits: Max. 8 ASTM F Section 5.2 modified/ CPSD-HL Burning Characteristics / Abnormalities 1 Report any abnormalities (for example but not limited to - any characteristic which would not be the normal and/or expected performance of the product, such as the ejection of component material, the creation of hazardous conditions, etc.) during burn performance testing. Shall not display any characteristic that may result in property damage or result in potential hazard. Shall not produce excessive wax dripping during normal use. * Effectiveness of annealing ASTM F Section 4.1 / CPSD-HL Modification = additional criteria not covered in ASTM F2417 Modification = Expanded scope to other products 3 [Glass holders only] With a Tungsten Carbide scribe, scratch once around the inside knuckle of the article. Then scratch an X across the entire inside bottom surface of the article. All scratches are to be made using sufficient pressure to penetrate the surface of the glass. Fill each article with water at the same room temperature as the glass. Wait 15 minutes, then empty the water and examine each piece for fractures. Report the number of fractures, if any, for each test. If no breakage occurs Break it to verify whether it s annealed or tempered glass. Page 8 of 9

9 * Thermal Shock ASTM F Section / ASTM C149 (Mod) 3 [Glass holders only] Shall not crack or break after tested per below - prepare cold-water bath temperature based on the available tap water temperature, - prepare hot bath at temperature hotter than cold bath by 50 ± 1.1 C (90 ± 2 F) - immerse the sample completely in hot water bath and allow to soak for 5 min ± 10 s. - transfer the sample to the cold bath, and immerse for 30 s, - remove the sample from the cold bath.
