1 TOURNAMENTS AT COLD WARS 2017 NASAMW Ancient and Medieval Events Below is a short description of tournaments being put on by the North American Society of Ancient and Medieval Wargamers, the Renaissance Wargaming Society, the Northeast Wargaming Society and Flames of War. For more information, please go the the NASAMW registration desk. An entry fee of $5 for all players will grant you access to all NASAMW events for the weekend. You will also be a NASAMW member. The $5 fee helps provide trophies and other expenses for all NASAMW events. Sunday: DBA Events HotT Open Hordes of the Things! 9:00am Noon Rules: Hordes of the Things, 25/28mm, 3 rounds Bring out your 24 point armies for a punch up! Brute and Phalanx extended rules will be used. Loaner Armies Available! GM: David Schlanger DBM Events Version 3.2 rules and both editions of DBM and DBMM army list books will be used. Players using the DBMM lists must make sure to heed the DBM conversion rules on the last page of these books but may use any rear support specified in a list, whether normally allowed in DBM or not. Players need their own army, terrain and ground cloth. Sign up at least 15 minutes prior to the designated start time. Sign up for all events at the NASAMW registration desk. Hard stop scoring. Round 1: 9am; Round 2: 2pm; Round 3: 7pm. 15mm Open Team Tournament (2-4 players per team); Two versions of one list. 500 AP with 5x8 tables. Three 4-hour rounds. Please bring your down drop cloth and terrain. 400 AP army. Only 1 army list permitted no variations. Please army list to GM by 1 Mar Eligible armies must be from Roman armies from Tullian to Patrician Roman and the enemies listed for those armies in Books 1 and 2. No Byzantine Romans. Additional info at Thursday: The Battle of Kadesh (scenario game) 15mm, 8 players 1274 BC and Ramses II invades the Hittite Empire. Heading north he walks into a trap laid near the city of Kadesh by King Muwatalli II. What happens next is the biggest chariot battle in history. Rules will be taught by the GM as needed. Historical matches in the first round if possible but the intent is to allow anyone to field any army available. Simple point system for determining winners but emphasis will be on having fun. 3 10am-6pm Singles Tournament 25mm, 6x4 table, 2800pt list. Players can use any valid army from Armies of Antiquity 2. GMs: Alex White. Lists restricted to Italy, Normandy, Market Garden and Red Bear/Gray Wolf (including HG Digital) books. $10 entry fee. GMs: Kurt Reese Flames of War Events Mid-War Last Hurrah Doubles Tournament Start Time: 10:30am. Check-in time 10am or risk losing your spot. Three 2.5 hour rounds. Number of Players: 48 (paired into two-man teams) Lists from any of the Mid-War books but no Desert Forts or Fortified companies allowed. Teams make two 1,000 point companies but you can only have one tank, one mech, or one infantry company. Germans may ally with Romanians and Hungarians, and the US and British may combine. You can swing up to 200 points to either 1K company. One air purchase. Cost is $10 per team which goes toward prizes. Missions will be random and Domination missions are possible as well. Scoring will be based on wins, then points. Each player can bring a 2000 pt warband containing a harbinger with Ka 1 + d3 and following all other rules for warband construction. Warbands can be chosen from Aegyptus, Olympus and Wendego. Warbands will be allowed to develop throughout the conventions. 4 Please preregister with GM as space is limited to 20 players. You will get updates to army lists and allowances for unit specific info. Check-in starts at 9:00AM. Tables will represent European and Eastern theaters. Terrain density and type will vary. You may select a force of one reinforced infantry platoon (no theater selectors). This force may come from the Core 2 nd Edition rule book or from one of the Armies of books. Missions will come from the Core 2 nd Edition rule book. There will be NO special rules, the event will be played using the 2 nd Edition rules as written. There will be no painting requirement. If you are a new player, come with what you have. If you need an army, there will be one British and one German army available for loan. Prizes will be awarded for Best Allied, Axis and Minor Power Generals and Bad Day At War. Expect a creative scoring system to break ties of win/loss records. Campaign rules will be used so after each round players can roll for injuries, level up, count and spend treasure and even establish a base. Players will need models for their starting war band plus any new soldiers they hire during the campaign. The Random Encounters optional rule will be used. The Wounded and Transcendence optional rules will not be used. Painted war bands are preferred but not required. Players will be scored on the total value of treasure accumulated.
