9 4. SITE DESRITION 4.1. GENERAL SITE HARATER: Habitat classes % cover oniferous woodland 2,6 Alpine and sub-alpine grassland 2,05 Other land (including Towns, Villages, Roads, Waste places, Mines, 0,67 Industrial sites) Non-forest areas cultivated with woody plants (including Orchards, 6,38 groves, Vineyards, Dehesas) Mixed woodland 1,25 Extensive cereal cultures (including Rotation cultures with regular 3 fallowing) Heath, Scrub, Maquis and Garrigue, hygrana 21,24 Dry grassland, Steppes 26,49 Broad-leaved deciduous woodland 36,32 Total habitat cover 100 % Other site characteristics Mount Falakro is a high mountain, with dense forest coverage in the northern slopes, while scrubland and phrygana cover most of the southern part. onifer, mixed and broad-leaved woodland can be found in the forested area, while many cliffs are present QUALITY AND IMORTANE: Mount Falakro still supports a very good Rock artridge (Alectoris graeca) population, while is also very important for birds of prey like the Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus), the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) and the Booted Eagle (Hieraaetus pennatus). The southern part of the SA is ideal for species like the Roller (oracias garrulus) and the Stone urlew (Burhinus oedicnemus) VULNERABILITY Increased disturbance from vehicles may pose a serious threat for sensitive species, like birds of prey. oaching is not a serious threat, however expansion of installations (eg ski platforms) is. Quarries located inside the boundaries of the SA are also posing a threat. Urbanization of the southern slopes is still developing on a small scale SITE DESIGNATION: 4.5.
