2 June 2012 How To Teach A Bird To Talk Are you interested in learning How to Teach a Bird to Talk? It is best to start with small common words such as hi or bye and names or nicknames. Words that are used daily and easily will be the best starting point and will seem more natural. It is also best to use the words in context such as greetings and names when present. Talking birds will also vary in the type of speech they will be able to perform and some are better than others are. Some may simply mimic whatever is being said while others can understand and repeat basic commands and choose when to say or use the commands. Reinforcing your commands with treats and positive behavior will encourage your bird to repeat and talk more often. In order to learn How to Teach a Bird to Talk Understanding the importance of a first word for birds will help imprint the bird and encourage the bird to want to talk and keep talking. If the first word you try to train your bird is too hard, the bird can become confused, agitated and unresponsive. The bird understands at a point that if it does a command properly it will be rewarded and if it has problems trying to speak a word that is to hard it will become discouraged. Frustration can cause a bird to behave poorly and cause anxiety. An anxious or frustrated bird will respond in the only ways it can by biting or screaming, tearing and ripping its toys and destroying its environment, which will result in discipline, and a vicious cycle begins. How To Teach A Bird To Talk - When you are training a new bird its first word, speak to it softly and encourage it to say the specified word. Stick with words that are one syllable and has meaning in the birds daily life. If your chosen word is hi you can try these tricks to get your bird to speak. How To Teach A Bird To Talk Tips Have plenty of treats ready, and treats that you can eat as well as the bird like bread, whole grain muffins, apple bits, etc. Greet your bird and handle your bird while training. Say the word hi to your bird and reward yourself a treat. Watch your bird to see if it acknowledges the treat

If the bird is not recognizing the pattern give the bird a treat as you say hi a couple of times. It may at first take some time and not all birds will speak. In order to learn How to Teach a Bird to talk each bird will be different in how it responds to speech training. Once the bird does identify that it will be rewarded for speaking it should not take your bird long to say its first word. Make sure that you are prompt in rewarding your bird and once you have established the pattern, you can offer the bird the treat before it responds to initiate a command and desired behavior. When the repairman arrived at Wanda's apartment the following day, he discovered the biggest, meanest looking bulldog he had ever seen. Just as she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet watching the repairman go about his work. The parrot, however, drove him nuts the whole time with his incessant yelling, cursing and name calling. Finally the repairman couldn't contain himself any longer and yelled: 'Shut up, you stupid, ugly bird!' To which the parrot replied, 'Get him, Spike!' So, you see, men just don't listen!
