Ju 5.1 NO OTOP News Taiwan Tea Life, Bring Delicate Gifts Home Since 1989, the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (SMEA, MOEA) has implemented the OTOP (i.e. One Town One Product) Counseling Project, mapped on the basis of villages, townships and cities, to promote local products with historical, cultural, exclusive or exceptional characteristics to be recognized at home and abroad, bringing precious Taiwanese local spirits sparkling on the world stage. In 2014, in order to share the enjoyment of the unique Taiwanese tea culture, the SMEA integrates renowned proprietors of quality tea, tea utensils and snacks to resent a whole new professional and in-depth Taiwan tea experience to Malaysian consumers. In cooperation with the China Airlines and the Reliance Travel, the SMEA will distribute the OTOP Taiwan Hot-Deal Passport in Malaysia, valid from July 15, 2014 to June 30, 2015, so as to invite Malaysian consumers to visit Taiwan and taste warm hospitality of delicate Taiwanese souvenirs. For passengers who take China Airlines from M a l a y s i a t o Ta i w a n, the Hot-Deal passports, with a limited edition of 30,000 copies, will 1

2 be available at the check-in counter. For tourists organized by the Reliance Travel to tour in Taiwan since this September, limited sets of exquisite OTOP amenities will be offered at the first day of their hotel stay. For this event, the SMEA specially selects the quality vendors who have been highly popular among international tourists who visit Taiwan: the Agricultural Oscar Award winner Yoshan Tea, triple awarded as King of Tea Eastern Tea, the century-old pastry brand Kuo Yuan Ye, the Gold Pin Design Award winner Anta Pottery, ecological bamboo crafts producer La-boos and so on. Through tea, tea utensils and snacks, a complete tea experience, along with good discounts from the Hot-Deal Passport, is presented here, encouraging Malaysian tourists to bring these favorable souvenirs back home to share with family and friends. 3 2014 OTOP GO!!Explore Fun Taiwan OTOP Inspection Tour and Press Conference To p r o m o t e t h e OTOP local shops, Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs held OTOP Inspection Tour and Press Conference at Kuo Tai Glass Park in Miaoli on June 24 and called on everyone based on GO!! Explore Fun to take a trip together and experience interesting and beautiful scenes everywhere in Taiwan as well as discover knowledge, culture and inspiration different from previous traveling experiences. This year, the OTOP travel agency alliance integrated OTOP shops and popular tourism attractions among people to plan OTOP tours and hold the online voting from May 12 to June 16. After the fervent participation of over 100,000 people in the voting, 10 routes were selected, including Miaoli, Changhua and Penghu, becoming local tours people want to join the most in These 10 routes as well as the limited Traveling Miaoli, Sightseeing, Tasting, Learning and Playing 3

4 without Exceeding NT$1,000 promotion for selected tours were announced in this OTOP tour press conference for encouraging everyone to jointly participate in OTOP local tours. This year, the OTOP local inspection tours based on the demonstrative itinerary started from Miaoli and went to Kuo Tai Glass Park, which has participated in the OTOP internationalized counseling plan and featured mouth-blown glass art craft shows, for holding the press conference. In the afternoon, they headed for Zhuoye Cottage and Shanbanciao Leisure Farm with simple style in the home of wood sculpture in Sanyi and guided visitors to enjoy strong Hakka style and natural scenery of countryside in the mountains, watch mouth-blown glass crafts and experience diverse cultural craft characteristics including plant indigo dyeing and facial mask paintings, hoping to bring everyone a vivid impression on OTOP tours through these field trips. This year, the 10 selected tours would be in association with EzTravel, Colatours and Phoenix Tours for the launch of OTOP package tours, including tours 4
