Eva Stæhr-Nielsen 1911-1976, Danish ceramicist, SAXBO In 1932, Eva Stæhr-Nielsen began her long career as a highly respected and innovative ceramicist at Saxbo stoneware.

Eva Stæhr-Nielsen was a woman of forceful character and a talented craftswoman. Her style was highly innovative.

17 Eva Stæhr-Nielsen , Danish ceramicist, SAXBO In 1932, Eva Stæhr-Nielsen began her long career as a highly respected and innovative ceramicist at Saxbo stoneware. She was soon appointed head designer and worked closely with Saxbo s co-founder, the ceramic glaze artist Nathalie Krebs, until the firm closed down in Eva Stæhr-Nielsen was a woman of forceful character and a talented craftswoman. Her style was highly innovative. She gained worldwide fame for work that was at once feminine, robust and functional, and together with Nathalie Krebs she rewrote Danish design history. During her career, Eva Stæhr-Nielsen was awarded numerous international design prizes in Milan, Paris, Tokyo and the United States, among many others. Today, her stoneware design is much sought after by collectors all over the world. Spring Copenhagen works closely with Eva Stæhr-Nielsen s family to relaunch some of the unique and timeless design pieces she created in the years from 1932 to 1968.

Poul M. Volther Poul M. Volther (1923-2001) is one of the great Danish designers, who developed his carrier alongside legends such as Børge Mogensen and Hans Wegner.

He was originally trained as a cabinet maker and proceeded to study furniture design at the Arts and Crafts School.

18 Poul M. Volther Poul M. Volther ( ) is one of the great Danish designers, who developed his carrier alongside legends such as Børge Mogensen and Hans Wegner. Volther designed from a strict functional point of view, staying true throughout his life to the concept of bettering peoples lives through simplistic and functional furniture. He was originally trained as a cabinet maker and proceeded to study furniture design at the Arts and Crafts School. At the young age of 27, he took over leadership of the FDB furniture design department and is responsible for several thousand classic pieces of furniture spread across Scandinavian homes to this date. Spring Copenhagen has discovered yet another one of his classic designs, the J115, which we now have the honour of putting into production for the first time. The chair is a flawless representation of Volther s style: Simplistic, Scandinavian functionality and knock-down approach to production. Coming 2019

20 Our responsibility When we develop and produce New Classics we work with some of the best suppliers in the world. Selection of supplier is important and sense of quality, CSR and craftsmanship is essential for us. We constantly seek sustainability and to reduce the carbon footprint of our products: We choose partners with a local focus and we try to minimise the use of packaging. We are thinking knock down and try to decrease shipping volume. In the selection of supplier we always focus on health and safety, wages, forced labour, child labour, discrimination and the use of harmful chemicals.
